How would you rate Saturday Morning Cafe?
Terrible unreal poor customer service. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and got a bagel with jelly. When I shared my displeasure I was not offered my money back and was told maybe she could get someone to go get cream cheese. Prices are ridiculous. I know its downtown but your prices should reflect your service and quality. I had short stack of pancakes yesterday and I got three tiny tiny pancakes that weren't even cooked right. If I could give it no star I would.
It took forever to get our meals. They were out of the salad trio, so my son ordered the turkey Reuben. They gave him 1/2 of a sandwich. Three of us were supposed to have toast that came with our meal. It came after our meal for two of us and the third person never did get their toast. Most places give you two pieces of toast with an omelet. Those of us lucky enough to get our toast, only got one piece. Also, sausage/bacon is usually two pieces... only one piece here. Big disappointment since the reviews that I read prior to our visit were so favorable.
Found this place through google and it was great! Little whole in the wall with great food and great staff. My kids thought this was the best place for breakfast!
Just left and loved loved loved every minute of our experience. We were clearly out of towners and the staff was so warm and inviting plus the atmosphere was fun! I had the Baltimore Benedict and it more than exceeded my expectations. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!
This place is amazing! Service was great, food phenomenal (I had the Saturday Morning Cafe special), and I loved the 'local' feel. Will absolutely return. Highly recommend.
This place is awful. They got our order completely wrong and only gave us one fork. The ice coffee was warm, no ice, and so much milk--and we didn't even ask for milk! Sure they were busy, but that's not an excuse to mess things up so thoroughly. I do not recommend going here unless you're starving and literally can't get anywhere else. Plus I called back to tell them (we were on the road and couldn't return) and their line was busy and still is.
We had a wonderful breakfast at Saturday Morning Cafe. My husband had the special and I had french toast with fresh fruit. Our food was delicious, the service was great. We would highly recommend this place.
Great place for breakfast if you skip it one morning. I was in a rush to get to work early, dying for something filling and sweet. Found this great place on yelp. Received a 10% discount off of my meal and for my next visit, as well as a discount for my birthday. Great atmosphere. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by my server. Very pleased with the beyond exceptional customer service and food. I cannot wait to visit here again.
Was there about a year ago. Food was great and service was exceptional. Staff was very friendly. Am going back for a visit to Baltimore in July and will definitely stop in again.
Super friendly service and a really great atmosphere and awesome food!
The worse experience we every had. We had two small children and explained we were attending the "O's" game". We were told it would be a 30 minute wait. When we checked with the 'Hostess' after 35 minutes we were told a table was being cleared and it would be 5 more minutes. After 15 minutes and locating the 'Hostess', we found our table had been given away, but it was not her fault. After another 5 minutes we were asked if wanted a counter seat, with no other alternatives we took the counter. Several minutes later a group of three, who arrived 30 minutes after we did, took seats at the counter. It took a long time, over 15 minutes and the person at the counter finally took our order, it seemed like no one remembered we were there to eat. We asked specially how long it would take to get our food since it was now almost 90 minutes since we arrived, and were told only a few minutes. The person who seemed to be in charge took a minute from visiting with some 'regulars' to tell us food was up next, this was after we had been waiting over 20 minutes. Finally food did arrive but it was for the three guys seated next to us that had arrived 30 minutes after we did and were seated after we were. The person at the counter apologized several times and indicated he would make it right. Another 5 minutes and our food finally arrived. We ate as fast as we could without really having an opportunity to taste it. The counter person discounted the bill by 50%, which was really nice, but did not really make up for our time and a wasted experience. The 'Hostess and In-Charge person disappeared and never apologized or acknowledged the poor service. Nice if your a regular maybe, but if not save your time and money and go somewhere else.
Great food, great service, and an amazing restaurant. I lived in Baltimore for five years, and this is the best breakfast I been to. Definitely stop by.
The atmosphere was cozy but the food was subpar. The bacon was wayyy too greasy. It also took a while to be served since I wasn't sitting at the counter. The staff was friendly, though. I wanted to like it, but it was just not great. Too bad, I enjoy visiting small cafés when I visit cities and recommending them to others.
Very disappointed! Just wanted two eggs over easy! Eggs were over done very small amount of potato! And two pieces of bacon! Left hungry!
Ate there last week. Both my dining partner and myself had the Baltimore Eggs Benedict. It was supposed to be topped with crabmeat, There was maybe a tablespoon per muffin half. The eggs were not cooked thoroughly. We both got food poisoning that ruined are weekend trip to the city. Within 2 hours we were struck with nausea, severe cramps and diarrhea that lasted 3 days. Our symptoms lasted through and ruined the weekend. The bathroom was filthy. My advice: eat at this place at your own risk!
I love Candace, she always takes great care of me and my family. The severice is out of the world and the staff are very friendly and caring. Great food, pricing is in my budget!
Just left the restaurant and it was by far the best cafe I've been to. My wife and I are from Philadelphia, from the moment we walked into the door we felt a warm feeling. The hospitality was nothing short of amazing. I look at the reviews and I have no idea whathat cafe they were at! The food was so good and it wasn't too heavy on our stomachs. It truly hit the spot! The coffee was extremely fresh, I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and family in or around Baltimore. Great service, smiling faces, excellent staff and good homenough style cooking. Can't beat it
The Saturday Morning Café has become one of my absolute favorite locations. I visted one day due to a Groupon a friend and I purchased. The Saturday Morning Cafe a great welcoming environment. The staff is very welcoming and has great customer service. I purchased the Southern Chicken and Waffles with a side of Breakfast Potatoes and Scambled Eggs with American cheese and hot chocolate. The meal was wonderful, well presented, timely, and well seasoned. The only thing I would change is that they serve their water in a disposable cup but that is a personal preference. Overall, this place is awesome. I love the food. I love the service. I will return again.
The food is delicious like a southern B&B I had the regular BLT and the shrimp and grits with the biscuits. Service is wonderful and pleasant! Join the Breakfast club! Amazing perks!
The food was great, but the service was terrible. I went with a group and we were attending a conference so we were from out of town. After we ordered, we waited over an hour for our food to be served. One of the people in our group ordered strawberries and vanilla waffles only to get caramel and blackberries since it was the only thing they had. After we finished the food, we were told by our server that they didn't seperate the orders and charge individuals. When we said we were out of town and didn't know. The person answered that it was on the website. I checked the website ahead of time and didn't see anything that said that. The servers and staff were nice. The manager was mean and kept on rushing to get us out since we had such a big group. Never again.
A+++ for cooking
And F for service
we waited an hour and a half for food... it was busy and the staff although stressed wasn't rude. they tried to make the best of it. the food was okay enough to try again under different circumstances.
Worst experience ever! My boyfriend and I decided to go after finding a deal on Groupon. We arrived at 11:30 am and waited 15 minutes before we were greeted. When the host finally came over and took our names he said it would be a 20-25 minute wait. We were seated at 1:00pm. After being seated it was an additional 15 minutes before the waitress greeted us. She approached the table, introduced herself and asked what drinks we'd like to order. Due to the amount of time we waited we placed both our food and drink orders at that time. I ordered hot tea and water. She only brought my tea. There were no utensils at the table and I had to request a spoon because she did not bring one when she brought the tea. I ordered the French Toast Dream with boiled eggs. When my food came my eggs were cold as if they had come right out of the refrigerator. The French Toast was room temp. My boyfriend's order was incorrect and he had to request that his eggs be cooked with cheese as previously indicated when the orders were placed. Additionally, the lady beside us who was basically sitting at our table because of the "cozy" atmosphere sent her food back three times. Lastly, there were at least two tables that arrived after us and were seated and done eating by the time our food even arrived to the table. I won't ever go back.
The food was really delicious. I was able to get fresh fruit salad instead of potatoes with my meal. The staff was really friendly and helpful as well. My favorite part of breakfast was their fruit infused water. It was really delicious!
Don't miss this little gem! All the flavor of Baltimore minus the touristy element. Hostess and wait staff (India) were knowlegable, pleasant and efficient. We were well cared for. And the food was excellent. Try the bananas foster pancakes-well worth the carbs!
Pleasant, unpretentious. Good fresh food and friendly service. I was in town for a conference and stopped in for breakfast. My order was taken quickly, but breakfast took a little time, I suspect because they were busy. I liked it, though, so I came back another day. They were a little less busy and my order came out very quickly.
Had breakfast here this morning. Everything was amazing. Great menu, Great food, warm and friendly atmosphere. Ghia greeted us and we had great service. Can't wait till tomorrow morning to come back!
Good diner type foods with hearty portions that will satisfy the hungry traveler. The seating area in the front is small with mostly countertop style seating as well as outside seating but I believe they have basement seating.
Service was quick and friendly here but I have a feeling by looking at some of the other staff it could get spotty.
Seems to be popular with locals and tourists so it gets busy. Their coffee is decent, as good as any others but nothing to brag about or that would win awards. But the food, good and cooked well. My omelette was served with delicious home style grilled potatoes and the omelette I ordered was light and fluffy. If I lived here and worked downtown I'd be coming to this place a couple times a week.
This cafe is a hidden gem in downtown Baltimore. It's a tiny place with a lot of charm and the food is incredible. I had the shrimp and grits- hot and delicious! Kristen, the waitress, is awesome! Eat here for breakfast, you'll be pleased.
The manager of this Cafe treated me with so much disrespect, I will never spend money here ever in life. Her name is Gia. I was staying at the Monaco after having proposed to my fiancé the night prior. We wanted to eat in the hotel so I called this restaurant to place an order. Gia answered my call and immediately placed me on hold when I indicated that I wanted to make a pick up order. She then placed the phone on the bar where she was stationed and went back to having a 10 minute conversation with folks seated at the bar. I sat on the phone and listened to her rant about all sorts of things, from the Ravens to Donald Trump, while she completely forgot about me and continued to hold court. After 5 minutes, the laughter and boisterous banter became too much for my patience and I left my hotel room, still holding on my cell, and walked the 3 blocks to the restaurant. Needless to say, Gia did not attempt to assist me until she heard her own voice on my cell phone speaker as I stood in front of her speechless. When she finally realized her grave error after being confronted, instead of being apologetic, she became defensive, she refused to give me her name, and refused to put me in contact with the owner of the establishment. She even had the nerve to question my frustration with the situation in general. I left my contact info with another employee for the owner but I haven't heard anything. This place obviously does not care about potential customers. If you are looking for professionalism and service, avoid this place like the plague.
We waited 30 minutes for a table, not unexpected during the Otakon convention. It is worth pointing out that they had three tables outside and we were told they did not have out door seating, though they had one of the outside tables seated and the other two unoccupied.
When we finally got seated we waited an hour for food that never came. Our server kept telling us the food was on its way but 4 tables that sat after us were served and finished with their meals.
We were not given any place settings, despite every other table having them and never saw our server outside the initial order and her occasional stopping by to let us know that the food we never got was on the way.
Horrible service, horrible place.
I was visiting Baltimore for business related things. I am young and stupid though. So the trip was pretty miserable for me. One morning I decided to escape the business scene and go for brunch/breakfast. Nothing in the area looked good until I found this literal hole-in-the-wall place in a fancy alleyway. At first I was just glad to find a place to eat. But as soon as I got inside I was welcomed heatedly by a cook and what seemed to be a manager. It was nice to talk to regular people away from the convention center. I was craving some french toast because it made me think of my childhood and how my mother would brighten my morning with her home made french toast. After ordering it and taking my first bite it really brought me back. It tasted just like my mom's. I was hundreds of miles away from home but the food and staff there made me feel a bit closer. Thanks.
Nice menu, not cage free eggs like I like, but the service was very attentive and there were healthy options. The place is very cute - nice local place
Outside guests and visitors new to town, take for your own word and following reviews below. I was truly hoping to write a good review on this place , because it was local and had some what decent reviews. But from the moment I sat down and waited 15 minutes before someone came up to me and said 'Hi would you like something to drink" I knew something wouldn't be right.
Food: I ordered chicken and red velvet waffles and I could almost bet you it was strawberry waffles that was given to me. Food was also mildly warm and soft as if someone warmed it in the microwave. When the chicken arrived I asked for hot sauce and was told that they didn't have any/ or they were out. Now it's 9 am in the morning what place doesn't have hot sauce for their breakfast. But after I questioned a few of the kitchen staff they went and found some.
Staff: Now I will say the server and hostess seemed to be very polite and honestly just seems like a lack of communication and process between management and staff. The employees all look drained and over worked which might attribute to everything else.
I write this review not because I'm an upset customer, but because you can turn this restaurant around with a few changes. So take it as constructive criticism
What a great little place! I got their breakfast special -- 2 eggs, meat, potatoes, and choice of home-made biscuits, corn bread, or pancakes (I got the pancakes), all for $10.79. I'm glad I searched on Google, because this is off the main streets, and I never would have found it just walking around.
Fabulous food, environment, and service. Will return if ever in Baltimore again. Definitely an amazing local find! A special thanks to our fab server for her great eggs benny recommendations
The food was great quality and it came out Very fast! The only issue we had is that they were out of several things we asked for. They were out of gravy for biscuits and croissants. For a breakfast place that sounds a little careless. If you want something that they have there you will be very satisfied with the quality of the food and service as long as you don't mind the super laid back atmosphere.
I love Saturday Morning Cafe!!! The owner is really cool, and I already have a favorite waitress, Gia. Who knows my name and order, and i only been there 3 times. The prices are great, and as a southerner I love a good home cooked breakfast and Saturday Morning Cafe hits the spot. Since I moved to the DMV this is the only place where the hospitality is as good as the food.
Great breakfast joint. Great service and food. When I am here, I come to this place for breakfast. Incredible food. Banana Fosters is fantastic.
Good value served by a great staff. Highly recommend for early mornings in the Inner Harbor away from the tourist.
We got a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. Chris was our server. She was friendly and attentive. Our meal was so delicious with a home cooked feel. The country fried steak and biscuits were a huge hit! We loved everything.
Excellent service. Excellent atmosphere. Excellent selection. Excellent food. Can't say I've enjoyed a breakfast meal more than here in the 45 of 50 states I've been to. Thank you SMC and the city of Baltimore.
The food here was very good, the one suggestion I would make would be to have more wait staff on the weekends. Our waitress did a good job but she was clearly overmatched by having way too many tables to wait on. The dining experience took longer than it should have because of it, but I would definitely go back again.
Fantastic little hole-in-the-wall cafe! Great fish and chips, great waffle, friendly service with an up-beat atmosphere.
In stead of eating breakfast or lunch at the hotel I found this little southern joint......they did not disappoint. Excellent excellent excellent. I came 2 days in a row, got the skillet and the benidict.
Delicious breakfast. Had the seafood benedict and grits. It was perfect. The coffee is good and strong, no frills. Kris is a master at handling the customers at the counter and a great hostess. I highly recommend stopping in for breakfast any time of the day.
We fell upon this lovely restaurant in Baltimore when we went to a cheer competion with our Daughters.
We went back the next day before we returned to CT!
Thank you so much for the exceptionally fresh and delicious food. Customer service is exceptional.
Looking forward to returning!
Fab local place w great people and good southern food. Nice place to eat outside or at the bar. Excellent coffee. Try the local scrapple and the Old Bay seasoned home fries.
Horrible experience for our one meal in Baltimore. Scrambled eggs were runny and raw, French toast ice cold, and she checked to see if they had chocolate chips for pancakes, which the waitress confirmed, then the cakes came out with chocolate syrup on them:no chips. Idk how this place has good yelp reviews? Maybe prior owners? Save your time money and frustration.
AMAZING food!!! Cool, casual atmosphere. Our server Kris was just Awesome! Great experience. Wish I lived closer because it would be a regular stop. Get the Chicken and Biscuits you won't be disappointed!!!
food was great, our waitress Chris, was very attentive and sweet. informed us of the most popular and her favorite meals. got the Saturday morning special and wasn't disappointed.
Excellent French toast and bananas foster pancakes. Very friendly service. Will definitely come back next time we're in Baltimore
Pretty small place so seating was limited, but the food was delicious. I got the chicken & waffles and they loaded the plate up. Also have pretty good coffee
I loved everything about this place!!! Great customer service from the moment I walked in the door...thanks Chris!!! The feel of the place & the music was a great start to my morning. The price was very reasonable & to top it off...the food was DELICIOUS!!!! A "must visit" if you're in Baltimore!!!
Atmosphere and service were four stars. I am in town for a week, I don't feel the urge to necessarily return there for a meal. It wasn't anything to rave about. Nice atmosphere, small café. A number of five stars on the menu. My eggs and pancakes were just average. Nothing wrong, just a good meal.
Me and a few friends took a trip from Philadelphia down to baltimore and stopped at this cafe for breakfast before heading to the aquarium. Instantly I was very comfortable, the atmosphere was very friendly. Our waitress, I believe Chris was her name, was nice and very attentive. My eggs were good and the bacon was some of the best I've ever had. Next trip to baltimore this place is definitely a do again 👍
THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND THE PEOPLE WERE SO FRIENDLY. AWESOME PLACE TO HAVE BREAKFAST AT AND LEAVE WITH A BIG SMILE & FULL STOMACH. I WILL BE BACK NO DOUBT....
Great southern style breakfast! A little hidden away on Water St. but worth seeking out. Might have to wait a few minutes to be seated. Support small businesses!
Hoorible experience! They didn't have anything that we ordered. No sausage for the gravy no chicken for the waffles......it was ridiculous. They started shutting down everything an hour before they actually closed so we were unable to eat outside and the waitress acted like we were forcing her to take our order! Ill never go back. I felt like we were inconveniencing them by trying to put an order in to eat.
Food was pretty good. Not too expensive, either. The atmosphere is charming as well. I thought the two-level setup was neat.
Waitress seemed annoyed with us and/or rushed. She also forgot to tell us about specials.
Waitress brought out one dish early so it "wouldn't get cold". Having been a server in the past myself, I understand where she was coming from and appreciate that she didn't one one dish waiting. It happens. However, it may say something further about kitchen management that a more complex omlette came out before plain over-easy eggs and bacon.
Would I go back? Probably.
Amazing food actually. I love that small diner feel. It always tastes so good. I ordered the Saturday sampler. They have specials. My friend ordered the fried chicken and waffles. We were there for Moonrise Festival. Others were there for BronyCon.
Great comfort food, fast & amazing service, nice environment.
The food is reasonably priced, similar to national chains. But, the servings are bigger.
The restaurant was very clean & the staff was cleaning during quieter periods.
Prices: $8-14/ per person for coffee & meal (eggs, potatoes, meat, & pancakes or French toast).
Accepts credit cards.
Best Time: Workweek mornings. The weekend it gets busy; very popular breakfast spot. Wait on weekends: 15 min.
The atmosphere at Saturday Morning Cafe had a very tranquil type of feeling. My wife and I joined our friends for a late breakfast on a gorgeous Sunday morning. I ordered the Seafood Omelette and to my surprise it was actually one of the best omelettes I've had.
Do not believe the reviews of 4 and 5 stars have to be workers no way that this food is good no way...
Horrible greasy watery egg whites raw turkey bacon toast was never toasted the grits were pasty
Never ever again worst food I would give it a 1/2 star. Because the creamer in the packet was good.
They made us wait 35 minutes that when we got downstairs they had 3 open tables made us stand upstairs like they were packed not cool
How do you mess up breakfast ;(
First of all, of you're out from out of town and taking Uber and Lyft, the address on Google doesn't drop you at the restaurant. Add 111 Mercer street and the restaurant is behind it.
Choose a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, potatoes and I subbed the pancakes for fruit at no extra charge.
This cafe is kind of a greasy spoon /care so all for less oil. I dined here before attending events at the convention center. It's convenient and the coffee is tasty. They brew their own coffee too and you can buy a bag to take home.
Check this place out. They have a variety of options from platters, to side dishes, to specialty eggs Benedict dishes.
This has been the worst experience ever. I will never come here again. When we first arrived, we asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar area, since there were 5 available sits, to our dismay, a manager by the name of Monica, informed the hostess that she was only taking parties of ones and two's and that we could not sit there. The hostess stated we may have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for downstairs seating. The hostess finally placed us (party of 4) down stairs, within 5 mins. The waitress, Jay, was extremely nice. We placed our order at 10:23am. A half an hour later, we still had not received our food. Other patrons that arrived after us, however, did receive their food. The waitress J and Chris, we're very apologetic. Our waitress, Jay, informed us that there was an issue with the printer and our order never went through, so she hand wrote the order and gave it to the kitchen staff. Another half an hour has passed ( now 11:36am) and still no food. We requested to speak with the manager, the manager did not acknowledge our request or even apologize. At 11:52am, the first plate arrived and the other food arrived individually and in 5-8minute increments. To further add insult to injury, the food was cold and one order was made incorrect. Once again the waitress, Jay and Chris, we're very apologetic. At 12:09PM, waitress Chris, informed us that the kitchen staff is currently redoing the French toast order that was incorrect. At 12:24, the hostess brought the food to us, the French toast arrived , incorrect again. When we informed the hostess that the order was once again wrong, she appeared agitated. This was that last straw, we decided it was time to leave. We took a chance on coming here, only to be disappointed with the kitchen staff and the horrific management staff, that clearly displayed that they could careless, if patrons are, at a minimum satisfied. Would not recommend this place to any one
The food was very good and the service was top notch. We really appreciated the time they took to help us with our order. They did alot to customize our order for our picky eaters. We love this place and will definitely come back again!
Overall, the Saturday Morning Cafe was a nice place to eat. The food was very good and the waitress was very attentive and nice ( Thanks Chris). It did take a little longer for the food come out then you would think for breakfast but, we were also told that they were short staffed. I would eat here again!!
This locally owned, quaint cafe/diner nestled off the beaten path offers a limited, but well-executed menu. Their smoked chicken Benedict was phenomenal. If they offered the smoked chicken by the piece, I would have ordered a plate for the road. Whether dining in or carrying out, give SMC an opportunity to serve you.
We really enjoyed our meal at Saturday Morning Cafe. Monica was an excellent waitress and very friendly. I ordered the Saturday Morning Special of French Toast, eggs, turkey bacon, and home fried potatoes. It was very tasty, came out fast, and looked great; the best turkey bacon I’ve had! Great brunch spot with a good quantity of food for the price.
Friendly great service. Second time here. Great food! This is our spot when we come to Bmore. Home cooked meals. Love it!
Amazing!! One of the best breakfast’s I’ve had in a while! The food was fresh and delicious! The honey biscuits and chicken are a must! Great vibes and a wonderful time!
My husband & I love this unique cafe! The food is outstanding & the service is great. My husband always gets the chicken & waffles while I've enjoyed something new each time (& have not been disappointed!). We will definitely return here whenever we're in Baltimore.
We had a great experience! Our server was excellent. We loved our food. Good coffee. The atmosphere is great. I highly recommend this place.
DO NOT GO HERE. Between waiting 20 min for what were actually empty tables and 20 min for drinks that never showed up and people who were mouthing to us to not bother staying and the group of 6 that got served drinks before us oh and the people telling us it's not worth it having one dish of hot food sitting on their table while 5 waited oh yeah and the waitress who was chatting it up with another table giving them local information and ignoring every other table in the place for 30 min we never got to try the food. We left and went to Starbucks around the corner.
All the reviews and review photos looked good. We arrived and were greeted by the woman attending the bar patrons. She said it would be a few min while they cleared a table downstairs. No problem.
After waiting 20 min I went downstairs and saw 3 tables. Two 4 seaters and one 2 seat completely empty. And a waitress chatting it up with one of the tables. When I passed a waiter along the way upstairs I asked if we were waiting in the wrong spot or if we were supposed to seat ourselves. He said he'll help us in just a second.
A min or two later he seated us and asked us our drink order.
20 min later.
The waitress is still chatting with that same table. One table finally got the rest of their food. And we still don't have drinks. As we were deciding to leave or stay the table which had just gotten the rest of their food overheard us. They told us to leave and that it wasn't worth it.
It's unfortunate. And maybe this isn't typical. But it was a complete waste of a morning for us.
Starbucks to the rescue.
Delicious breakfast and lovely local spot. You will leave full and want to come back more, so many great menu choices. Pricing is also reasonable for the inner harbor area.
Really nice little spot tucked away in a quiet walk way. Food was fast and delicious. The only issue was no sugar free syrup available which left just butter for my daughter's chicken and waffles.
Good food. Not too pricey. Varied menu with something for everyone. Need more waitresses but service was fine. Street parking is challenging.
Came here for a quick brunch during our visit to Baltimore and so glad we did. The southern style chicken and waffles were excellent - so much better than the white gravy PA Dutch version that I'm typically exposed to in Lancaster! Service was good and food was good.
I like this place. I occasionally come here for breakfast or brunch. The food is good and affordable. It can be busy on weekends, but on weekdays one usually get seated immediately. I prefer sitting in the main area. The basement has that wet (moist) outdoor.
This place was in the middle of a financial district but was tucked away on a cobble stone alley way. Great food, friendly service, would ave given 5 stars but I waited almost 45 minutes for breakfast! That is just way too long. Still great food though.
I came in happy from the start but things quickly turned into a nightmare. Had to wait to be seated however there was no waiting area for the customers that was waiting. Waited over an hour for eggs and pancakes. Food is extremely over priced for the portion of food they are serving. Water was leaking from the ceiling however they did completely to accommodate the inconvenience. I will not return back to this location. Service Sucked and their ability to problem solve was horrible.
Great place. Good food. Server did fantastic with a bunch of groups coming in at one time though they don't normally split checks.
The service was horrible, not because of the waiters or waitresses, yet the service time was overwhelmingly long. The ceiling was leaking over our table which was uncomfortably too close to the sole Television in the establishment. Our food arrived to us about 55 minutes or so after sitting and was cold not even Lupe warm. Had it been hot it would have been excellent, but the environment was not comforting. Hated it.
Very friendly server. I was visiting Baltimore. Maybe this is a locals historical area. Food was ok, nothing special. The location is at end of a short side street, almost like a wide alley, with another dining place across the way Still downtown prices, too much for quality and environment for only orange juice, 2eggs, bacon, 1 slice of toast, grits more like cream of wheat, served on a colored plate that had a large chip on the edge. Seated in basement area, not very appetizing. Small outdoor seating might have been better. Main floor has a bar and very few tables that I could see.
Got seated and ordered right away and then waited more than 40 minutes and had to leave with no food to get somewhere. Staff were friendly and the menu looked good but they didn't do well managing our time expectations. Only try if you have ample time or when it is less busy.
Friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food. I split both the chicken & waffle (banana fosters style) and seafood omelet with a friend. Both were excellent in quality and taste. Overall a great experience, highly recommend.
Enjoyed this place so much! The staff were so nice and welcoming. They went above and beyond. The blueberry pancakes were so good! Saturday Morning Cafe, thank you for a great breakfast!
Thanks.
My wife and I were in Baltimore for a quick stay. We were looking for somewhere simple but good for breakfast. This is the spot. Kris was polite, efficient and very helpful. The menu contained the staples, but also many Southern favorites as well. The service and food were both quick and the meal was delicious (Alabama loaded grits and bananas foster French toast are both worth a return trip.) This place definitely represents as one of Charm City's best!
Danny was friendly and accommodating to our (numerous) special requests. Dining with young children isn’t always a picnic, and his impeccable, polite service, combined with the casual, friendly, welcoming atmosphere, put everyone at ease.
The food was delicious - simple and plentiful - with everything prepared and served well. I will always be drawn to a “breakfast served all day” spot, and SMC did not disappoint.
This place was very hard to find. Small and we were lucky enough to get there before Saturday morning breakfast rush. Everything went quick there. portions for large and set us on track for a day of Adventure through downtown Baltimore. We had our bill and were instructed to pay at the counter. But for whatever reason we had a hard time tracking somebody down so we could pay and leave. Really enjoy that place
I had a phenomenal experience this morning. After speaking with Kris, I decided to try the Saturday Morning dish with scrambled eggs w/ cheese, turkey bacon, seasoned potatoes and french toast w/ banana foster. It came out very fast and was quite delectable. I was able to find a parking spot on the street instead of in a garage ($2 vs $6). Give them a go!
Cozy atmosphere, lots of cool vintage art, and fantastic food at reasonable prices and friendly staff. Some of the best chicken and waffles I've had! Definitely a great place to visit if you want to see what local Baltimore food and small business is like.
Yes, it's a bit of a "hole in the wall", and on humid days, sitting at the bar means dodging condensation dripping on you...but the food is fantastic!
It's not a coffee chop. So don't go looking for a latte, this is diner coffee.
But get yourself a serious breakfast, that is delicious, generously portioned, and well seasoned.
This was worth the walk from our hotel in the rain. I'd do it again!
Okay at best. Seafood omelet had plenty of crab meat, but it was over cooked, dry and tasteless. There were only two, yes two small over cooked shrimp in the omelet.
Bacon was over cooked.
Potatoes were excellent.
Very disappointed for an advertised all-day breakfast place.
Followup: So a few days later, I decide to walk the half mile and give them a second chance, knowing the hours that are posted on the window and online. When I arrive exactly at 2:30pm on a Saturday, It is clearly posted, as I show in my picture, that it they close on Saturday at 3:30pm. The door is locked and I'm told by a wait person just going back inside they are closed. As I take a picture of the hours posted on the window, the manager comes out, obviously wondering why I'm loitering outside taking a picture. He confirms that the hours posted are wrong, and when I tell him I'm writing a post, he invites me in to order. I don't think I would have been invited in otherwise. After my previous experience, and dealing with this inaccuracy, I think another, better managed resturant should get my money.
Small cafe with decent food. I got the chicken and waffles and they were good. My bf got the Benedict and there was barely any hollandaise on it.
Super delicious southern style food.
Popular spot. Be ready to wait for a table.
The service not as friendly but polite enough.
Great food, cool atmosphere. Tucked in an alley in the down town area. Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. The waitress was friendly and attentive even offering to make us some coffee to go. Wish I could take this place with me back home!
Food was good, though many menu items were not available during Sunday brunch. No alcohol. No coffee drinks like depicted online, only regular coffee. Service was terrible. The busboys provided better service than the server. Drink refills are charged, but good luck getting a refill. But you can guarantee they will be back quickly to pick up the check! Would not recommend.
It was a nice and cozy place. Food was great and servive wasn't bad at all. Yes, i would go there again.
My wife and I were in town from Atlanta for a wedding. We found grits in Baltimore! What a surprise and what a great breakfast. Check it out... You will not be disappointed.
First time in Baltimore.. this place is very cute.. staff is friendly.. food was divine! I dont understand how it only has 3.9 stars deserves more!
Me and two friends came into Saturday Morning Cafe for brunch before our football team (Go Chargers) played the Ravens. Immediately when I walked in I felt at home with the cafe atmosphere. We even chose to sit at the bar instead of a table because people were so friendly.
The ladies in front and the cook were incredibly welcoming, but still gave us a good couple of jabs joking around about the football rivalry. The staff was attentive to getting us drinks and recommending several of the food options. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked good, but I went with the Baltimore Benedict. It took awhile for the food to come out which is why I'm only giving 4 stars. The crab cakes weren't big, but they were good. The English muffin could have been more toasted, but it all went together nicely. The country potatoes were cooked well, but I personally would have liked more onion. My friends had eaten our free hotel breakfast, so one of them only got cheesy grits. He said they were awesome.
Next time I'm in Baltimore I would definitely come back. Convenient, unpretentious, solid food, and great staff.
Seems to be a local favorite in the Baltimore area. Several people at the hotel recommended this as a breakfast spot and I'm so glad we listened. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town!
The service here was outstanding. If you have India as your waitress, tell you she was highly recommended by a previous visitor. Everyone was very nice, but I was a little turned off by the hostess. At first she was very off-putting, like us walking into the restaurant while it was busy (although we were told it had been busy since 9:00AM and it was now 1:00PM) was a burden. After we waited for a table though, she seemed to brighten up and was very pleasant the rest of the time we were there. All of the staff were amazing, from India, to the other waitresses, to the cooks and even the runners. We were seated in the only table on the first floor and it was right behind the kitchen and also where the dishes were washed because every time the door would open is smelled horribly of syrup and dirty dish water. While India kept assuring us our food would be just a few more minutes, she actually had to come out after telling us a few times and ask what side my husband wanted, so either the fries were pre-made (they were lukewarm and soggy with oil) then I don't think the food was going to be a few more minutes. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his crab cake, but my fish was caked in grease. I don't think I'll be returning. The restaurant is cute, the area is a little hard to find (down some questionable alley ways), the service is great, but the food is sub-par.
Wonderful breakfast nook near Inner Harbor. We brought the kids here for some grub before making the 7 minute walk to Port Discovery. It was a great choice for both the youngsters and adults. The food is solid and notches above a regular breakfast place. We'd recommend chicken and waffles. The breakfast skillet was tasty but on the smaller side, while the French toast dream (see photo) had all sorts of sprinkles, whipped cream, etc. We will come back for the kind and attentive wait staff and an ambiance fitting for "charm city."
The staff is friendly and attentive, especially Monica at the counter. Mostly counter seating with a few tables. The coffee is fantastic. The French Toast Dream was excellent. The bread was the right thickness, not soggy, and e sliced was plenty. It was topped with fresh, ripe berries and just the right amount of whipped cream. It took a little longer than expected for the food to arrive, especially for another diner whose order was apparently missed in the kitchen. The cafe is a few blocks from Delta Hotel by Marriott as well as others. I'd definitely eat here again when staying in the Inner Harbor area.
This spot is small, but the food is Southern Style and it’s pretty good.. if you never been or eaten Southern Style you wouldn’t know the difference... but I would definitely come back
App says "open at 7am"...better wait til 7:30-8am to be safe. Food was good. Not sure if there's new owners or what, but not the same welcoming vibe from a few years back.
This was a great find for breakast. The place has a really eclectic and local feel, and the menu was really impressive. We tried the shrimp and grits and the apple pecan french toast. The food was unbelievably good and the service was fantastic. Amazing prices as well for large portions of food. We would definitely come again the next time we are in the city and would recommend it to others. If you like breakfast food, you don't want to miss this.
I really enjoyed my breakfast here! My food was perfectly portioned, the grits were perfectly prepared, my eggs were spot on, and my veggies were fresh. Everything was made to order and well prepared. I appreciate the fresh veggies; nothing was canned or frozen. The coffee was good, fresh, and robust.
The meal was great, yes, but the smiling faces and welcoming attitude really made my day. I had a bumpy introduction to Baltimore, and coming in to bright smiles and kind attitudes set my day up for greatness. I really appreciate the staff, the food, and my experience in this little gem. 10/10 would visit again.
This is the gem in Baltimore you been looking for at breakfast. Southern hospitality with just the right level of energy in the morning. Everyone here will strive to make your experience just right.
I love the Southern Biscuits in Sausage Gravy. The waffles also won’t disappoint. The Baltimore Benedict is a great go to if you need a little seafood touch to your morning.
Really great local place to get all day breakfast! Has a very local feel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The place is a little small when you walk in but there is also a downstairs and they seat you very quickly. I had the Maryland Benedict and my husband had the biscuits and gravy, both meals were very good. Unfortunately he already dug into his before I got a picture. The portions are a very nice size as well, I wasn't able to finish mine due to being so full.
Appreciated the feel of this place and especially the service on a weekday morning. Went in with two toddlers, they were willing to turn cartoons on for the kids (Curious George) and accommodate the additional that that come with kids (things like splitting an order of OJ, plastic utensils, etc). The food was great too, the pancakes were really good and so was the Benedict
Good food, excellent service. We were seated outside and Kris was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She came to check on us...read this and 913 more
