How would you rate Breaking Bread?
By chance, I found this nice eatery yesterday while discovering Pig Town/Baltimore. My chicken salad sandwich was very good but the kale soup was really wonderful. My server Jabril was very helpful. The owner Kimberly made me feel like an old friend.
Best food ever. Friendly staff, warm atmosphere. Everything I've tried there has been awesome. Go and see for yourself.
I came all the way from Richmond,Va to visit this place and the only thing I needed was somewhere to lay after I ate. Food was good, hot and well seasoned. I recommend this place to anyone! I plan on returning with more people next time.
Breaking Bread is a wonderful little spot in Pigtown. It opened appropriately on small business Saturday and it has proven itself ever since. The food is DELICIOUS, the famous sticky wings, the OMG Awesome fries, the everytime delicious potato kale soup, and the forgettaboutit burger with garlic parm fries. If all that did not make you hungry then go to McDonalds and enjoy the 2:1 menu because you will never appreciate great food!! Must go to place and everyone in the building is as nice as can be!!
I agree Mr. Ellis. I have yet to hear of any negative reviews from anyone who has visited this restaurant. I myself am a picky eater who is turned off by the simplest things when it comes to eating out.
Excellent service! Delicious food! Burgers, sticky wings...
You won't be disappointed!!
Went in on a Saturday night with two friends that were in town from Milwaukee. Since it was just the 3 of us we sat at the bar, this was a great idea and I'll come back to that. The food was amazing, just to be blunt. Two burgers were ordered, some sticky wings (get them) and oxtails. My one friend said "i haven't had oxtail this good since my friends grandma back home made it for me" My burger was....lets put it this way when I get great food, i stop talking. I went silent for like 15 minutes so I could enjoy the best burger I've had in 7 years. I ordered it medium well and it was juicy, flavorful, just perfect. The best part was the owners were there and they are a family. It felt like they welcomed us into their home to dine with them.
To recap: Food "better than your grandma makes" level 5 stars
Owners are nice and friendly and I'm so glad they chose Pigtown to open this place in.
While I appreciate the atmosphere and amazing friendly family service, the food is awful and quite bland. Ive been to this place twice and tried to give it a second chance since it had only opened, but i was disappointed again. The Turkey burger has no seasoning and was served luke warm, and the turkey kale soup was pretty luke warm as well. It tasted like milk and kale. No flavor at all! I also think the shredded lettuce served on the burger makes it look sloppy and not worth the$10/$11 I paid for when I could go to Abbey's for an amazing burger at the same price. I had the awesome fries which werent so awesome. The fries were soggy, the bbq pulled beef non existent and dry, and then cheese was poured over everything into one giant mess that really just made it all one glob. Lastly, the cupcakes are HORRENDOUS. If you like your hand to be covered in grease/butter, then I guess this is right up your alley but I was disappointed how heavy and greasy the cupcakes were despite how much the owner raved about it. Its weird they have so many "healthy" options but its all flavorless, and if I'm getting a Turkey Burger with a side salad, I would expect more than just a handful of mesculin greens without any cucumbers or tomatoes or onions for example.
The establishment has potential but they really need to taste their food, season it more, and make sure its HOT. The only consistent thing about this place is that the food is bad. Maybe their salvation is the wings, but I never tried it. I doubt Ill ever go back; at least not anytime soon. They definitely need to work out the kinks.
Only one single star compared to everyone else's five star...give me a break!!! Choose to listen to the one naysayer if you wish and you will miss out on one of the best places to eat in Baltimore! The sticky wings will be world known and the service and owners can't be beat. Please run, don't walk to enjoy the great food and wonderful atmosphere this establishment has to offer!
I asked the owner if there were any veggie options because I did not see any. ☹️ With out hesitation she said I can make a Veggie wrap...
It was one of the best veggie wraps I ever had... It was a worm Portabella mushroom with avocado, collard greens and veggies in a mouth watering wrap!!!! It was full of flavor!!! I will surly get it again.
Very friendly, family owned and operated establishment. The food is delicious here. The sticky wings are on point, and the Poblano & Potato soup was spicy and savory.
The wings are outstanding, the burgers are fantastic and the owner is an angel. Don't miss out! Make this a stop before any O's game.
Service is a little slow, but the food is absolutely amazing and tastes incredibly fresh. There are also some good vegan and vegetarian options, so you wont go hungry here.
Super nice people and service food delicous
Wings and burgers are wicked friggin good. Sticky wings are a must, never had better! Fries are perfect. Staff is very friendly. Got kids? No problem!
Super nice staff, fun atmosphere, amazing soul food. Why would you ask for more?
Great experience. Positive service.
The sticky wings are amazing! The menu is great...the atmosphere is laid back and the owner's are real down to earth.
If you're looking for a chill spot...this is it.
The food is INCREDIBLE! Sticky wings, Chipotle potato salad and the bread pudding are my favorites! The owner Kim is very inviting makes you feel like family 👍👍👍
The burgers are amazing and the family run vibe is great. The owner is a lovely lady!
Great burgers. Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend
Gotta try the sticky wings!! And you can BYOB. Breaking Bread is one of those neighborhood gems that keep you coming back for the people and the vibe as much as the food. The owners are wonderful and make sure you snag a cupcake on your way out!
Food is awesome and staff are super friendly
Pleasant &polite service, great food ,good prices!
Fantastic food and friendly, community oriented staff and owners.
Service was horrible, took 1 1/2 to get our food. No apologies from the waitstaff. Won't ever go again.
Most food here is delicious but the sticky wings and burgers are indeed my favorite and go to!
Love the food here. The owners and staff and great and friendly. Great wings, burger, specials, and breakfast
It's like eating at your southern grandma's house like LOVE
I had some of the most delicious wings EVER here. Chicken is my favorite thing to eat, therefore I am picky about it. I was in town for business and walked in here on a whim, and it was a good idea. I tried the "Stickywings," they were hot, seasoned well, fresh, and DELICIOUS. My only regret about the wings, was that I didn't have more. The catfish and Macaroni were also good. To top it off,my server was delightful, and the Chef came to ask me how I wanted my food, and asked me again if we were still friends later after I ate it,lol, and after those wings,we were friends for life!! It is a quaint little spot, you should go,and you should eat there without a doubt!!!! If i'm in Baltimore again,I wil go back, until I do,go and eat there for me,it's worth it!!!!
2 days in a row I make in and bad a wonderful time. They welcome you with peace and love. This a family affair that is beautiful.
The food is F R E S H! SEASONED(no high salt content here!)
I started off with the house soup, kale, Turkey sausage &potato...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The catfish was on point... but that turkey burger🤤🤤🤤 make you wanna slap yo momma!
But wait the fresh potata salad..... lawwwwddd!
And then I had the nerve to have bread pudding.... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😚
If you want to have a soulful experience without the bad attitude and good clean food.... break bread!💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎
The food was Superb...it was two of us. We had the Kale, turkey, potato soup (talking gooood and lite). The turkey burger sweet mother of Turkey burger it was heaven!!!! Cat fish and shrimp with potato salad OMG. Everything was freshly prepared and clean tasting to the patels. I REALLLLLY enjoyed All the the food. The dining area has the perfect vibe for Great Food. Jabril, just made me want to eat more, wonderful personality and I felt like I was at my Grandmother house.
Breaking Bread is a Most Eat dont miss out!
I will be back
My all american burger was perfect!!! Im a new customer for sure
Good food & great staff. They aim to please and they do just that. Parking may be little tough but the food will be worth it.
I discovered this gem in September while visiting a friend. The locals didn’t even know about it but I’m an explorer.
I had the burgers twice. I ordered the wings for a get together and they were a hit as we’re the fries. Now that I’m back in the area I can’t wait to order something- maybe another cheeseburger or lamb burger. Staff friendly attentive though can get a bit overwhelmed when busy.
Great food, great staff! As the sign reads, "Not fast food, but good food!" Everything is made to order and always, tastes delicious! Every single menu item is tasty, literally! The famous sticky wings will have you licking the bones! Geared toward family and community.
The jerk lamb and turkey burger is really, really good, but those awesome fries are my favorite thing on the menu. How can you go wrong with pulled chicken slathered over some already great tasting fries! Oh, I almost forgot to mention how good the sweet potato fries are! Turkey kale and potato soup... delicious! Great place to sit at the counter and meet new people or sit at the window and people watch.
This place is awesome the food is great. I had the soup of the day which was a creamy kale and turkey soup with some potatoes. My main was a jerk lamb and turkey burger it was the best burger I’ve had in years. To top it off the owner is so nice and came to spend time with my party even offered to hold our children while we ate and told us the back story of the restaurant and their charity. 10 our of 10 would go again.
Best burger I have ever had and best food in general. Service is great much hospitality. Would 200% reccomend you go here best food with great service and prices.
Burgers and wings joint that kicks it up several notches, has a real homey atmosphere, and the staff are super friendly.
This is a true family restaurant. Owned & operated by a family. You'll feel welcomed & right at home. And the food is quite good. Voted the BEST sticky wings in Baltimore!!!!
The sticky wings are delicious. I will definitely be back. You can tell that the food is made with love.
The food is always delicious but the customer service is on another level. Everyone makes you feel at home and that your business is appreciated. Simply amazing!!!
This place is amazing. The entire staff is super friendly. I think I was greeted by everyone working by the time I left. The staff is great, but the food is *stellar*. I've never had better lamb, their "Awesome Fries" are really excellent. Basically pulled pork/chicken nachos but fries instead of chips. Super great. And their burgers taste really great, but the other stuff is so much better. Stick with stuff you won't get at every other restaurant.
This hole in the wall place has the best wings in Baltimore. Decent service. If you are here on an slow night sit at the bar for some fun conversation with the friendly staff. Their daily specials are generally acceptional which I usually spring for those. Burgers and fries are okay but not the best.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE everything about this place... It's a great casual atmosphere, super friendly, wonderful and healthy menu, well priced... Love everything!
This restaurant has the feel and taste of home. My friends and I arrived on a Saturday night, ordered the awesome fries, the sticky wings, mac and cheese, and a turkey lamb burger.
The awesome fries were indeed awesome, the sticky wings lived up to the hype, the mac and cheese had the perfect taste of home, and the burger was set over the top by home made pickles.
The prices were reasonable and the service excellent. The timing of the meal was right, the awesome fries making their way to our table minutes after ordering, and the entree to follow. The entire experience took roughly an hour, but for food made in-house, I'd easily wait that again.
The vibe is so smooth! Small but beautiful design creates a nice feel. Neosoul playing in the background. Friendly staff. The food is upscale but comforting. A hidden gem.
This place is so great. Food is fantastic and the atmosphere is so comforting. I had the best carrot cake of my entire life here. Do yourself a favor and give this place a visit.
The food and the customer service is excellent. This was my first time eating here and I will definitely be back! I highly recommend you stop by and break bread here!
"Great food. Not fast food." That's what they tell you but I really want to emphasize that Kim's family owned and operated neighborhood restaurant is very much that: family operated. What it lacks in food Network style efficiency, it makes up for with the love and attention of a home cooked meal, served by a loving family member. If you need a quick bite before the game, get fast food. but if you have time, bring your friends and family, a bottle of wine, and spend some time with Kim and her family. Try the wings, turkey burger, Mac and cheese and the awesome fish basket.
Delicious soul food, super friendly staff. Long wait because they make everything to order (sooo worth the wait) and they have fun games to play while you wait
Incredible food, incredible atmosphere, incredibly kind and charming service. This place has so much character and is a gem. The service isn't always super fast but there's a lot of pride in their family-owned restaurant and in their food (did I mention the food is delicious?). If you don't drop by, you're missing out.
Awesome fries were great. The staff seemed to be polite and welcoming I'll definitely be back again
I'm sold! This is my new favorite place in Baltimore. They treated my daughter and me like family. We practically had dinner with the owners right at the alcohol-free bar. We ate great, homemade food, talked about music, watched videos, laughed... My daughter and I love wings. So their award winning "Sticky Wings" plus the "Hot Honey" were a fun combination.
We ordered from Breaking Bread for a corporate event and the food was amazing! I emailed asking for suggestions and Kimberly gave me reasonable suggestions and a reasonable quote! Ed delivered and set up the food and made sure we had everything we needed. I definitely would recommend using the company for catering.
There has to be something if you go to a restaurant 3 nights in a row in a 5-day vacation to Baltimore! The freshest wing I have ever had! Great music, incredible people! Do not miss this place and their wings!
I finally made it out to Breaking Bread as I've been marked it on my "places to go" list. Glad I was able to! The Jerk/turkey lamb burger was very enjoyable. They also offer self proclaimed Famous Sticky Wings that I also tried. I was more impressed with the burger than the wings. Not saying they were bad, just average wings, nothing special. I'm willing to give them another shot at a later visit. I did take them to go as I finished my burger and didnt have room for the rest. The atmosphere is welcoming. Cool spot for a quick lunch. I will say, their Red Velvet cake looked wonderful. I was being the good husband and didnt partake, but WHEN you do please enjoy it for me.
I'm so glad we found this place while visiting Baltimore. The staff was so friendly and helpful, it was more like eating at a friends house than a restaurant. They put kids songs on the TV when my family walked in, we played board games while they made our food and the food was excellent. Everything seemed handmade and fresh, my 5 year old said it was better than McDonlds, which is the standard of all good food (for him, clearly). I had their famous sticky wings, which were crispy and sweet, made with some kind of savory honey sauce with a little spice. I cant recommend this place highly enough!
The food was phenomenal
I had the Mac & Cheese and sticky wings 😋
The staff was friendly and courteous, great vibe. Will definitely be returning
I don't normally write reviews but i will for this restaurant. The food was amazing. The best wings I ever had and there sweet tea was perfect. But the best part of my dining experience was the customer service. I felt like i was visiting my family and you can't get that from other restaurants. 1,000,000/10 stars.
It’s a beautiful spring Saturday, my girlfriend and I came to Baltimore for some furnishing shopping and found this place on google maps with a 4.7 star review. We got here before 12pm and there was one table only with a couple drinking tea. We ordered right away after asking for water and coffee. When the coffee arrived I knew I was in for a “great time”. Rancid, cold, thick dark and biter coffee. I asked for cream, as you can see in the picture, but couldn’t do it more than a couple of sips. The waitress brought only one water and no stirrer to mix the coffee with the cream. Now, it’s 12:50 and we haven’t seen our food yet. Actually just came and the oil coming out of it it’s just insane. Food missed on every point, service very poor. Really needs some cleaning and dusting, can only imagine the kitchen...
Kim gives you the best vibe you could ever get.. She makes sure you feel welcome, & that this is the place you where meant to eat at.. The food is mind blowing.. Everything taste freshly made.. Burgers are a banger.. Garlic Parm french fries 😍.. & the wings, OMG! Nothing like supporting black owned businesses!
Great place! Our server Jabril was the best: he was very attentive, he helped us with the menu, and he suggested his amazing sweet tea. The Awesome fries will pulled BBQ beef were amazing!!! Also the bartender and chef personally came out the check on us too. The whole restaurant was a vibe, especially the art. Definitely will be back before we head home.
WOW -delicious, beautiful and perfectly prepared food - we loved the salmon salad (jerk seasoning), mushroom burger, mac & cheese, BREAD PUDDING, turkey kale soup, fries - everything! We love this restaurant and looking forward to future visits!
I loved the staff! The food was amazing too. The whole feel of the restaurant was cookout at grandma's. It just felt comfortable and homey. Will definitely go back!
I cannot imagine why anyone would give Breaking Bread anything but 5 stars! We had the Awesome fries. Name fits!
Food may take awhile because it is NOT frozen food dropped in a frier. If you have to wait a bit, chill. Food is worth the wait. Owners and staff are so nice, friendly. They told us empty plates were happy plates. Ours definitely were happy. This was our first time to visit. It will not be our last.
A really cool spot that I absolutely have fallen in love with. Good people and great good. Their menu is a mix of classic and new. Try that jerked Burnie and their lemonade!
The food is amazing but what I really love is that sexy waiter named Jabriel! Such a charismatic, charming, and personable person and he never leaves you unchecked; always coming to you and asking if you're okay and if the food was done and prepared in the way that you ordered. Truly, in all of my years of eating on this Earth, I have NEVER seen someone as spot-on and amazing as he is.
He made the food (which is already at 10 stars,) 10 times the more awesome. Thank you for hosting me and hopefully, this becomes a recurring thing!
Food was delicious. Lost a star b/c of initial Interaction. We weren't greeted, the restaurant was empty and two people of the three standing behind the bar looked at us and turned heading into the kitchen. So we stood at the bar and asked the 3rd gentleman on the phone, do we seat ourselves or wait... We decided to sit at bar.
Besides the not so great first impression, everything else was good. Customer service was much better and we will be back.
For my first experience it was not a good one. I had a one hr lunch break and in 30 mins I was not even asked for my order. Maybe I will try again. It looks like a cool place nice vibe.
Taking back or should I say off my feet by the great creation of sticky wings. Friendly surrounding and great hosts. A must repeat.
We were back home and decided to head to Baltimore to spend the weekend with our friend. As we were walking we saw The Breaking Bread restaurant and decided to stop in. Thank GOD we did!! The food was absolutely amazing!! Fresh, made from scratch, down home cooking. The owners(husband and wife) were such great, friendly people. The ambiance is very welcoming. We appreciate ALL the hospitality and love!! See you guys soon!!
Visited Breaking Bread for the first time. I enjoyed their delicious sticky wings and we had a yummy hamburger. The bread pudding was great as was the chocolate cake. I liked the vibe and hospitality of this restaurant
The food was excellent as well as the service. I can't wait to visit again for breakfast! One of the best restaurant meals I've had in quite some time.
Sticky wings and burger were both delicious. The service was great, the staff is very friendly. I would definitely come back if I am in the area again
The atmosphere and service of break bread is a whole vibe. If I had time to dine in I definitely would have. The menu gives you just enough options and the staff is knowledgeable of the items. The actual food itself was AMAAAAZING!!! I can’t wait to come back.
Love the story behind how this restaurant came to be and the food is just as amazing. I'll continue to go back every chance I get. This day I had the savory waffle with shrimp.
We have a sign in our window that says Caution great food not fast food .All our food is made fresh. We are not a fast food restaurant. So if you want to...read this and 76 more
