How would you rate Sweet Auburn Seafood?
Went here yesterday around 4pm with my good friend and daughter. We valet parked for $5. Very nice atmosphere and ambience upon entering. Was immediately greeted by the hostess and even the bartender made eye contact and smiled which was very inviting. I had the beef short ribs with lobster mash potatoes and it was delicious and I wanted more of it. My friend had the shrimp and grits and ate all of it. My daughter had the fried catfish, truffle fries and red beans and rice. She said the catfish was good but the truffle fries and red beans and rice were not good at all. I ate a few of her fries and felt that smash burger truffle fries where way better. We also ordered the 4 way martini which was delicious. We had a great waitress who gave us recommendations and was very attentive. Cant remember her name. Overall a great experience and I will be returning.
I brought my mother and her friends here for her birthday and the experience people are raving about was just alright for us. The environment is great although it was a little warm but it's 100 in Atlanta today. I can accept that. When my drink finally came, it was declined although some of my party didn't like theirs at all. We waited awhile for our appetizers(over 30 min), and of course longer for our food. I ordered the seafood burger to play it safe with sweet potato fries and steamed spinach. The spinach was cold, flavorless, and staged and the burger was decent at best. The sauce as the sweet potato fries were awesome! My mother ordered the crab and was satisfied. That was my main corcern but the experience as a whole rubbed me the wrong way. A few other is our party ordered the crab cakes which are more of crab croquettes. The lobster mashed potatoes does not have lobster in it and were like warm. One person in our party was so displeased with her food, she didn't order anything again and walked to grab some pizza. She originally ordered the pasta and it came soaked in oil. We sent several items back. Our server was Yasmine, she wasn't friendly nor did she look happy to be at work. When she delivered the wrong drinks the first time, we were okay. Mistakes happen. The second time, she didn't even acknowledge her mistake. She disappeared for long periods of time after her very short appearances. Upon delivering out food, she slid it on the table, almost spilling on our clothes. She just lacked customer service. We spoke to the manager 2 times and the sorry we got just wasn't enough. I appreciate him for listening and even saying sorry but it wasn't enough.. I like to give people and things a second shot but I doubt if I return.
Dined at location twice this week, food was excellent, service was delightful; only to attempt to make reservations for a party of 27 with no callback from events coordinator Taylor Marshall. Message was left for her 4 times in one day. I called the location to speak with manager who then instructed the receptionist to give me the events coordinator assistants phone number???? I thought to myself...WOW, why? This experience had soured my view greatly and I decided that I was not going to patronize this location again. BUT.......
The manger Rick was called and he accommodated my party! He was very apologetic and simply put HE HANDLED business.
Business owners please sir and ma'am make sure your customer service experience in every area operates with a SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE! Words, whether good or bad travel and some of us have good names where people take our recommendations to heart.
I've indulged here for brunch TWICE and loved every single bit of it. I highly recommend the shrimp & grits, truly an amazing flavor and appropriate portion. Not too much, not too little. I'm excited to go back and try some of the regular menu items!
Great little late night spot, that I'm surprised that I didn't know about. The food was delicious and the presentation was unique and fun. I had the fried red snapper with sweet chili sauce, lobster mashed potatoes, and the garlicky spinach. The only thing i would complain about is the scarcity of lobster in my mashed potatoes. I only treated a couple pieces of small lobster in there, which didn't quite give it a lobster taste. I read the reviews beforehand, so I didn't order any drinks. I also wasn't concerned with the price as it really is on par with other seafood restaurants in the area. Also the portions were great. Overall a nice restaurant with great vibes and a sexy atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon :)
The customer service is not the best. I have been trying to make reservations for almost a week.
I spoke to someone last week and they told me due the size of my party that the event coordinator would have to handle this. So I waited for them to contact me. It never happen. So I call several days later. To follow up. Than I was told to pick another time because they already had 2 parties scheduled for around the time I wanted. I was put on hold for them to check with the kitchen manager to see if they could handle one more party being added which they reply they could. Then I was told they would email a form to me to fill out to reserve to spot. It's been 24 hours and I have yet to receive this email of the form to fill out.
What an impression this staff is making and it's not a good one. Now I see why your reviews are so bad.
Customer service like this is why so many places have to close their doors
Met a group of friends for a late lunch. First mistake I made.....I reviewed the menu but neglected to look at the reviews. Ordered the Sweet Auburn She Crab Soup.....it came to the table lukewarm and I doubt if this was lump crabmeat!.....at this point I really should have cancelled my order but noooo....I waited and waited until finally the rest of my meal was served.....a crab cake sandwich....just looking at the sandwich....I knew it was a mistake...the lite color was a dead give away.....no crispy frying here!. The crabmeat was obviously "not" lump crabmeat and it was bland and tasteless....and finally the hand cut truffle-parmesan fries were served with (I SWEATER-GAWD) 3 or 4 slivers of parmesan.....the cheese was sooo sparse I finally complained. They gave me another serving with a generous serving of parmesan. All of my friends complained about their weak drinks....but my son, a recent college graduate had the good sense to order Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and it was ok......Oh and I also ordered the bang bang shrimp....they were fine.....grand total $60 including tip! Bottom line.....not at all worth the price and certainly not worth the hassle of driving way downtown! Nope won't be going back!
I had heard great things about this place and booked a reservation for my husband's birthday. I was TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. First they sat us behie a large, loud group. The tables are TOO close together. Food wasn't good. Lobster shed potatoes should have more than one little piece of lobster. Crab cakes didn't taste like crab. TOTALLY OVERPAID. WASNT WORTH IT. AND WE HAD DRIVEN UP FROM MACON. HAD A BETTER TIME AT THE PARISH ON CHERRY ST. WOULD.NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.
Went here and although the food was delicious they were quite skimpy with the amount. Ordered shrimp and grits as an entree. There were a total of 4 shrimp(with the tails STILL ON) and about 5oz of grits with 3 pieces of chicken sausage. For over $24 for an entree that doesn't even come with sides they should be ashamed of themselves. Not even bread. As far as drinks go I got a margarita on the rocks and barely tasted agave or sweet sour. Tasted like a plastic cup concoction you would get at a club. We brought a cake with us and the kitchen said it would cost a whopping $25 for them to simply slice it for us! Would t allow us to slice it ourselves at the table. We had made reservations a couple of days previously for 9:30. Didn't get seated for over an hour.
The manager of the place is a smiling joke. I didn't witness him manage anything but walk around smiling like he was a celebrity instead of making sure things are done correctly.
Have to say the only reason I would ever return to this place is if I happen to be trapped on auburn street and starving. Nope not even then.
The live music is the only reason they got stars at all. The band that performed last night did an awesome job and made me forget what joke my meal had been
Good food, horrible customer service! They make you feel like your presence is unwanted.
I dont quite understand 1 star reviews over minor things when the food is still good and customer service is about average. Anywho, if you are on the fence about whether to eat here you should. Their menu is diverse, atmosphere is nice, and customer service is nice.
They arent a 2 for $15 type restaurant so prepared to spend a little money but it's not $100 dining either but it's worth the money you pay. Go now!
I was taken here tonight for my birthday dinner by 2 of my friends. Prior to coming, I viewed the menu online and was taken by the photos. Once I ordered my entree, The Red Snapper and garlic mashed potatoes and a side of vegetable medley, and it came to the table, I was like wow this looks really good. It was better than good, it was excellent, our server Pinto came to check on us for about the 3rd time and I had the bone in my mouth, he asked how was everything, I said I can't talk right now...LOL, I was eating the meat on the bone that's how good it was. We all enjoyed what we ordered and tasted each others dish, one had shrimp and grits, the other had the sea bass with spinach, now that one you have to order another side with it was on the light side. But we were already planning our next visit, this time we will stay longer to indulge in the live band. Thanks to our server Pinto who was very informative on the menu suggestions!
We had the fish tacos and we love it. My wife had the shrimp and grits, with extra shrimp and I had the red snapper and green beans, we loved the food and beverage were very happy with the Waiter - Mark Pinto was awesome!!!
The evening was great. Seated almost as soon as we removed our coats. The Band was smooth and not too loud. The dinner was Great. Georgia Mountain Trout. Melts in your mouth and seasoned just right. I'll be back no doubt.
Service was very slow. Food was good but not great. For the prices I expected much better. Bonefish Grill is much better tasting.
We werent impressed... the dishes we ordered were oilier than we would have liked. However, our waitress was really friendly and the atmosphere was really fun... so maybe we'll give this place a second chance one day?
I thoroughly enjoyed this establishment. I loved the food, the music and the service. My waitress came to my table to apologize to my friends and I for the wait for our food. We were enjoying the music and atmosphere so much we didn't notice. It was worth the wait. Everything was amazing. Perfect spot for girls/guys night out, birthday, date, or family outings.
We reserve the vip booth for my cousin birthday at 6:30 it's 8:15 and everyone haven't received their food. The first order we placed. They came out 30mins later and said the food is not available. This is very disappointing! Horrible -Deseree and Julius really did try ! They are awesome servers. But this is the worst. Poor service !!
My first visit was great! Second The atmosphere was good, server great but I ordered crab legs and for $36 I could have gotten better out at Publix. It was the driest crab legs I've ever had. For the entertainment great but inconsistent food service.
Ordered the $27 lobster pot pie and it was so salty it was inedible. The good thing is the waitress noticed I hadn't eaten it and kindly offered to remove from my bill. Tasted my friend's brioche french toast and it wasn't good either. The atmosphere is nice and it's location is easy to get to so I may give it another try in the future.
Best Shirmp and Grits EVER!! The bottomless mimosas were delicious. Great service! Best believe I will be back
Worse customer service I have ever experienced. I brought my family from out of town here, in hopes of enjoying a great meal and good entertainment. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Upon arrival to the restaurant, we were told that there would be a hour and fifteen minute wait. We were ok with this wait time, so we paid for valet parking and headed across the street to another bar to wait for our table. About a hour twenty minutes later, we still had not received a call about our table. So naturally we went to the restaurant to ask about our reservation. We were met by a hostess who seemed unaware that we even had a reservation and then proceeded to tell us that we would have to wait an additional 45 minutes for a table. Disappointed in this response and customer service, we asked to speak to a manager. The manager told us this was the way the establishment works and there was nothing she could do about it. I will never return this establishment again.
My coworkers and I visited there for the first time, celebrating my going away dinner. I must say the food was geat. I had the beef short ribs and my side dish wash the spinach with garlic OMG.. So delicious, and my friends enjoyed their meal as well. The atmosphere was great along with the live music. I will definitely be visiting again, when I am in the Atlanta area.
This is one of the best establishments on Auburn. The bartender is awesome and beautiful. The wait staff is nice and considerate. They make you feel like family while here. Not to mention the food is amazing. Tastes great from appetizer to dessert. I recommend top shelf drinks at this establishment cause they are always in stock. Enjoy!
Came for brunch. Waiter knew my drink taste just from telling him 1 drink I like. Exceptional service and care. Cant believe this is a real restaurant... Music classy and jamming setting the perfect atmosphere for our anniversary. Once they found out, they invited us back for live Jazz, brought us an anniversary desert, and 2 glasses of champagne...And to think we randomly found this place! Icing on top: Its our people, but everyone can come and enjoy themselves. Coming back tonight to celebrate! Shout out to music operator. lol
Loving the live music. I love that it's unapologetically black. The food came out quickly. My food was wonderful. My only suggestion would be more portions. I've brought several groups of people here that were visiting from various cities. Both times, my guest left hungry.....after2- 3 courses.
I had my 30th birthday party here with a large party and the staff was so accommodating! Shawn was our waitress and she seemed so comfortable with us and taking our orders. She had a method to her process and it all worked out in the end when it was time for our checks. Food was amazing and we all had a great time with no stress or confusion with having a big party! I will be back to try so many of their other food items.
It was our first time here and we loved it. We had a party of ten for a birthday celebration and we had excellent service. Mark our server talked to us before the rest of our party arrived. He was very kind and accommodating. The food was excellent. We didn't have one compliant from our large party. Thank You Mark. We will definitely return.
Awful service! 5pm reservations and we can't start to get food until 6:45 at the earliest(maybe)? What about the Fox Theater tickets I have for 7pm? Don't book reservations at 5 when your kitchen closes at 4 for brunch. Drinks come out 1 at a time (several drink orders were wrong. Including my simple margarita). Apps came out one at a time. So not satisfied. They didn't have part of the menu. I guess we ate allunch going to this stage play hungry.
Best pancakes I've ever had (brunch). Awesome service & and welcoming staff. Highly recommended
Ambience is really nice and quiet. Service is friendly and welcoming. Food is amazing! The monitor shots at the beginning of the meal are very refreshing. My favorite appetizer was the salmon cracker.
Brought my daughter here for her birthday. Our first time.We give it a thumbs up. Ordered the chicken alfredo delicious. Shrimp nachos delicious. And the lobster the pot pie everything was great. Great waitress great service and great band can't complain
Really great food and our waitress was very polite. Comfy atmosphere and the whole layout is aesthetically pleasing. Lastly, the band was awesome.
By far the best place to eat downtown. We ordered several appetizers which were all amazing. After a tough decision I chose the Sweet Auburn Seafood Burger and was not disappointed. Paired with sweet potato fries I was in heaven. This is my new go to place for lunch downtown.
We had a reservation, but still waited nearly an hour to be seated. While we were waiting to be seated, one of the hostess told us our table was being cleared off. We waited another 20 minutes after that. The place was packed with people, but the space and arrangement of the restaurant is not suited for it. So you're constantly sliding past and bumping people. The owner did notice we'd been waiting and took initiative to assist us with being seated. Our server, Derek, was professional, however, not very friendly. He did get our orders correct. We did get an excellent table near the band. The live band, Trey Daniels, was fantastic and helped the experience. I was impressed that our server did know the name of the band when I asked him. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. It tasted fantastic. I do think it was overpriced for the portion size I received and was not pleased that I left still hungry. The overall ambience is very nice and well decor. The bathrooms were still neat and clean, even though it was near the end of the night. I did like seeing security monitoring outside when we left. This was my first time here and I came as a recommend from a friend that loved the place. Don't see myself returning. Definitely would steer clear on a Friday or Saturday night.
The turkey ribs were horrible. The service was great. A real and friendly APD officer is outside and kind enough to escort you to your car. They do have valet parking which I recommend. We had a table for a celebration party of 8. They held our cake, brought it out with candles lit. However, there are only 2 toilets in the entire place, unisex, so everyone may have peed their pants on the way home not willing to stand in the 10 person wait line for the 2 toilets. We quickly said good bye to make it home or to stop at a restroom nearby. Don't drink unless you're going to give yourself at least a 10 minute head start to wait in line. Where's the fun in that? When you get back to your party after about 15 minutes, then you've got to get caught up from a second hand perspective. Never knew how important being about to go to the restroom and quickly return to your table is.
Love the food! Love the live music! Absolutely adore the owner and his incredible family/staff 😍 🍷Personally curated wine list that shows off a developed palate. An extremely Top Notch environment to impress clients, give out-of-towners a taste of Atlanta History, and have some good ole family & friends fun! We always see local celebrities and politicians in there when we go. TIP: Call ahead and make a reservation for the seats next to the musician's area. 👌🏽🥂
I used to go to this restaurant at least once a month. Now I will never go here again. I visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon about 6 weeks ago. It wasn't too busy and my party of 4 was seated after a short wait. We were greeted by a very nice gentleman and he took our drink orders. After he returned with our drinks he took our appetizer and food orders. We ordered the crab soup and calamari. After waiting for about 30 minutes he finally brings out the order. I should have known then that the service was going to go down hill. We waited quite some time for our food. We kept asking the waiterand we said it's coming. After an hour and a half of worrying for our entrees we finally speak to management and the apologize and mentioned some issue in the kitchen. However speaking with management did not make me feel better about waiting so long. Just when we are about to cancel and go somewhere else they finally bring the food. At that point I had such a sour taste in my mouth from the service I just had them box it up and we left. I will NEVER go here again. Even though I used to be a regular the poor service let's me know my money is not appreciated. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if you want an enjoyable experience.
You don't always get what you pay for. Sweet Auburn definitely knows how to write a good menu, proved to be pretty basic at executing this menu. I really wish it tasted as good as it looks but it does look great.
I attended a birthday party for my friend's wife and we were seated in a private dinning area on the side of the band. I must admit this was one of the best dinning experience I have had in Atlanta. I have been to all of the so called top spots but Sweet Auburn Seafood outdone them all. First we waited at the bar until I room was ready; the bartenders were attentive, nice, professional and friendly. It was extremely crowded on this Saturday night. So the start of the night was great. Second the two servers we had were thoughtful and professional. They explained and made recommendations. Our party had about 10 people and no one was overlooked. Thirdly, our drinks both the alcohol and water was never empty and each server made sure everyone was happy. Finally, the lead performer from the band came to our room, making it very special for the birthday girl. Months later she still talks about the experience. THIS IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE MY GO TO SPOT IN ATLANTA!!!
I came for my birthday celebration with 7 of my friends. After dinner we all recieved our check. I was charged a $25 dollar fee for the cupcakes that were given to me as a gift. The waitress was nice, however, encouraged us to give her the cupcakes so that she could make them look special. There was no time during my interaction with this facility that a 25 dollar fee was mentioned for bringing your own birthday treats. Not online, not when I spoke with the reservation desk or by my waitress. In talking with the manager, she offered no resolution and stated policy at other restaurants in the area. They took a good night and ended it on a sour note. Thanks for the birthday gift sweet auburn seafood. I will never come back. You could benefit from customer service 101.
The food for brunch was great. We started with calamari which was perfect. The lobster pot pie was awesome, as were the shrimp and grits. The only down side was the hen was not cooked well for the chicken and waffles. They accommodated the people on my party who ordered that entree.
I went for mothers day. The wait time wasn't too bad. I was able to sit at the bar and order a drink before being seated. The lamb and garlic spinach was delicious. The staff was happy and professional. I would love to try them out for brunch.
My family and I stayed in downtown Atlanta and decided on Sweet Auburn Seafood based on internet reviews. This place blew us away! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the food was to die for. My crab cakes were quite possibly the best I've ever had. My son got the lobster pot pie and it was insanely delicious. Of course we all tried each other's dishes and everything was amazing. I don't know how often we'll come through Atlanta but if we do this restaurant will be a mandatory stop!
Delicious food! The general manager took extra care to ensure my food didn't get cross contaminated with gluten! The little things make the experience exceptional. Excellent job!
Excellent customer service. Waiter attentive and friendly. He reviewed the menu and wine last and made suggestions. Relaxed atmosphere with good music. The food was outstanding!
So delicious. The seafood is so fresh! The crab legs were amazing and the Seafood Nachos were to freaking good! The banana pudding was delicious and I am not really a fan of banana Pudding. It tasted like a mild Banana cheese cake. I took my Husband and 3 Month Daughter for Father's Day. They had a live band.
Nice atmosphere. We went on a Thursday. It was live music. The food was very good and the waiter was awesome. We had valet parking for $5 which was great since it was limited parking. I enjoyed the overall night. Great place to dine.
Went for the first time recently and took my friend there to celebrate her birthday. Sweet Auburn Seafood far exceeded my expectations. It was excellent start to finish... my raspberry margarita was made with fresh ingredients...appetizers were good and my entree (shrimp and grits) was delectable. I also had dessert (peach cobbler a la mode) which was divine. I will definitely be back!
I had read many reviews recommending this place. They were spot on. Sweet Auburn Seafood doesn't look like much from the outside, inside is a completely different story. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, live music and comfortable seating.
My only complaint was the drink situation. The bar is pretty small and was full when a friend and i showed up. Really wanted to try the food so we opted for a table. We were seated quickly. Wanted a drink before ordering but ended up ordering an appetizer because the first round took like 20 min. We were there close to two hours and only able to get 3 drinks before leaving. They were also $14 a piece. Slow and expensive. One or the other i can deal with. Both are a terrible combination.
On a different note, the food was fantastic. Had the seafood nachos as an appetizer and the lobster pot pie as an entree. The friend I was with really enjoyed the fried shrimp. Because the food was so good and the staff was friendly, I will be giving this place another try.
This is the PERFECT brunch hot spot! Amazing food, great atmosphere and good service. Parking is not an issue as there is valet parking available next door for for only 5.00. I enjoy coming here to meet with friends, listening to music (Not overwhelmingly loud) & encourage best combination of breakfast & lunch. The shrimp and grits is a "must try", the french toast is deeeliciuos and the bottomless mimosas are delightful. This place is everything I've been looking for in a brunch restaurant. I'll be back again and again and again!
We ate here last night and the food was outstanding! The staff was very friendly. They had a live band performance so the atmosphere was chill! For our meals we had Bang Bang Shrimp, Lobster and Shrimp Pot Pie, Lamb Chops with a side of Kale and Mac n Cheese. The bartender served me a surprise Margarita (got me 2 of em thangs) ... and they support the military... Thank you!
I took my wife for brunch, while my shrimp and grits tasted great there was a huge discrepancy between quantity and price. I asked my waiter about the size of the dish before ordering. He obviously lied about it, but kept asking if I wanted a side of kid's waffles. The bowl initially looked large, but was extremely shallow. I had more sausage on the plate than shrimp. It cost $20. My wife ordered chicken and waffles. The chicken had more bone than meat. I will never go back. I should not leave an establishment hungry, but did today. I support my own when possible, but I should've went with my first instinct and enjoyed another brunch at Murphy's in Virginia Highlands. Better bang for the buck.
Very nice place! A great crowd! The food was tasty, music was impressive but our server Pinto made our night! His service was second to none! Professional and attentive. Can't wait to go back!
I went tonight for a birthday dinner. The interior is nice, the host was amazing! Bartender was kinda rude. Service is super slow waited an hour and change for my food, plus the food came out two plates at a time in 10-15 minutes increments. Also took about 15 minutes to get water! Would give it a 2 but the host was so kind and stepped in to help.
Food was great! Live Band was amazing! Great atmosphere. The only downside is parking...if u aren't lucky enough to get in the restaurant's reserved parking right next door then u have to park on the street at a meter or a block down at a paid lot. Not very good if you are alone at night. Not the best of areas.
Went during first year opening and it was great. Most recent visit 9/17/17 over priced for disorganized and poor service with small portions. It was sad to see it function so poorly. We would have been better off celebrating occasion at another restaurant. Too many good restaurants to pay top prices for poor service. Not sure how long they will be in business if other people have similar experiences as we did. If you give it a chance make sure small group and non important celebration, at best it's unpredictable.
Customer service sucked the food is overpriced for its taste. The restroom was very disturbing I don't know whose fault it was I don't know if someone had a bad alcohol moment but no one tried to attempt to clean it up.
We ate here while visiting from out of town and looking for some place open late. Everything was delicious. We devoured the seafood nachos before they could be photographed. I also had a cocktail called Apple Jacks 👌🏽very good. Music in the restaurant is great too. Our server was also equally amazing. The only downfall is the area. Parking was available on the street but ALOT of homeless hangout near the area so be alert. A woman tried chasing us out the restaurant but she was stopped. They have security outside the restaurant.
This was truly one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Feel very good about inviting anyone to visit this fine establishment. Everything was absolutely wonderful! The manager Matthew who was a pleasure and a joy to speak with and the entire staff was on point. The live jazz ensemble was just enchanting and lovely
One of my favorite spots in the city, right downtown. Good for brunch or a nice evening dinner. Nice atmosphere The service was a little slow but the food made up for it, since we had a party of 15. Enjoy the bar too, We also had a couple drinks that were right on point.
My co workers and I were here for lunch, got there at 11:45am, there was no crowd, we got seated quickly, our waiter was attentive without being bothersome. Had the seafood burger which was really good and sweet potato fries. The fries were a little too sweet for my liking, I think they added brown sugar sprinkles, can’t tell. All in all, will definitely come back
The food was excellent. Well seasoned just right. Shrimp and Grits, lamb chops, lobster bisque, she crab soup, sweet potato souffle we're all delicious. We're going back before we leave.
My wife and I ate here and loved it. The decor was reminiscent of the French Quarters of New Orleans. I had the seafood burger.... & MAN was it good. I could tell it was a handmade patty and the shrimp that topped it was well seasoned and added another layer of flavor to the burger. We WILL be going back!
My wife and I went there because she loves Seafood, and I love to eat! We had the privilege of LeShun being our server - she was super knowledgeable about EVERYTHING on the menu (which I appreciate - because my wife takes forever to decide what to order) and thoughtful about presenting dinner options. The food came out better than I could’ve imagined. If you eat there, be sure to have the Shrimp & Grits, with the Shrimp fried - you won’t regret it! My new spot for good comfort food in Atlanta.
My friend made reservations for 4 people on NYE at this restaurant. When we arrived 10 minutes early for our 11pm reservation, we were seated immediately. Ten minutes later we placed our orders and waited patiently to enjoy our food and bring in the New Year. After 1 1/2 hours of waiting for our food, our waiter brought out some food for two of my friends, apologized for our long wait, and said he would provide us some dessert for free. We watched a people who came in after us were served there meals before us. After another 30 minutes, he brought the dessert out and asked us how we would split the check. He did not tell is that we would NEVER actually get our food. I sat there for 2 hours and never received my meal. I was not even made aware that I would not get my meal until he brought the checks for my other friends. This was a horrific experience, and I plan to never return.
I dined here last night for a friend’s birthday and I really enjoyed it. The vibe was great, food was amazing, but my waiter Emmanuel was awesome. He was a very gracious host and he really made the experience an all around enjoyable one.
First and LAST time dining at Sweet Auburn Seafood. My friend initially received the wrong order, the waiter apologized and brought back the second order containing a long piece of HAIR. The waiter apologized again, and 30 minutes later returned with a another order. By that time we had all finished eating, so she boxed her order to go. The waiter returned and advised that she would then have to pay for her meal per the manager, although it was wrong initially and contaminated the second time. We declined and returned the boxed food. We requested to speak with the manager. When I inquired about what he would do with the returned food, he stated that he would throw it away, which would equate to comping her meal? After speaking with him further, he advised that business is declining and there were personnel issues. As we waited to receive our bills, the manager returned the boxed meal and we politely left it on the table on general principle. I had heard great things prior to my visit (and reading the reviews), however the unprofessional manner in which this was handled assures that I will not return.
We arrive around 11pm with no reservation on a Friday night. We are greeted immediately and seated within 3 minutes. There was a live band playing great music most of the time we were there. Food was magnificent! I ordered the jumbalaya my wife ordered shrimp and grits! I would give 6 stars if I could.
I was visiting from Florida and my cousin took me to this place Friday night. The atmosphere was really nice inside the restaurant. Our server was very knowledgeable and polite. I asked her about the Sweet potato souffle, inquiring if it was stringy. She wasn't sure but went to the kitchen to ask. She came back and said no its velvety smooth. However, once they arrived it was a plate came out it looked like a brush full of hair. the server apologized and took them away. The crab cakes were big but blah in flavor.
Dion specifically was an exceptional waiter. Friendly, charming, and timely. Every other staff member was also prompt and polite. My water glass was never empty.
The Food: I had the cajun salmon and my mother had the stuffed flounder on Dion's recommendation. Both were perfectly prepared, generous portions, and came out piping hot.
Atmosphere was excellent. Despite the concrete floor and hard walls, somehow the acoustics were great, never had a problem hearing our conversation.
Food and drinks were decent. However there is no live entertainment on Thursday night as advertised. We drove quite a distance to celebrate my husband's birthday.. I made reservations and asked about live jazz. I was told it begins at 9 pm just as it says on the website. After 9:30 I asked my server who informed me they only have live entertainment on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I was extremely disappointed with it being my husband's birthday. If I had known I could've gone somewhere else.
Where do I start. Overall atmosphere was nice. We were seated immediately, my party of 9. I made reservations on open table. I had the chicken and waffles, no issues at all with my meal. Initially when seated the waiter was quite knowledgeable about the menu.
He advertised the “award winning” shrimp and grits. The waiter returned and said that they were out. 4/8 orders were messed up, but the waiter was friendly and accommodating. First time, but probably would not return.
I visited Sweet Auburn Seafood on this past Saturday for brunch. There was a thirty minute wait, but with Big Tigger as the live DJ I knew the time would fly by. Once our party of three was seated we waited for what seemed like forever to give someone our drink order. After becoming somewhat frustrated we decided to just flag someone down. Although the restaurant was full, it wasn't crowded in my opinion. We ordered a bottle of champagne for Mimosas and once the glasses came out, one of our champagne flutes were dirty. The waiter went to the back to exchange it without hesitation. I ordered the Lobster Pot Pie and it was Delicious! The service continued to often be less attentive than I would like but the food was a nice consolation. I plan to visit again when it's not peak time for brunch on Saturday and see if the service will be better. I'd give the food 5 stars any day. It's definitely worth a visit.
I was very upset with the service here. I had my wife and daughter with me for a night of dinning. We had made reservations and the seating was prompt (due to Sunday night and only 25% full) we ordered and the waitress kept coming back informing us that they was out of this and that concerning the food we ordered. After a hour of waiting they brought my plate and since my wife and daughter had to reorder it would be another 30 minutes before their food would be ready. Now I am sitting there with my plate and cant eat because my families plates wasn't there. They brought my wife a glass of water with a unknown substance in it . I ordered a Merlot wine ( but it was something other than Merlot) After a hour of waiting my family received their plates . The mashed potatoes were cold and the steak over cooked. The bill was extremely high for the the food portions. I tip the waitress (who just started working there) because it wasn't her fault. I remembered when this place first opened and it was based on great customer service. i don't know was happened in the past 4 years . However, I will never step foot in there again.
I went on a Saturday evening and it was packed to capacity. My boyfriend and I had a reservation so we were seated immediately. However, we waited an hr for our drinks and almost 2 hrs for our food. The live band made the wait much more tolerable as I do LOVE live music. The band even solicited patrons to sing on the mic which was very entertaining. The staff was very apologetic for the wait and comped our drinks. The kale greens were DELICIOUS. The lobster pot pie was ok. However, the chicken and mashed potatoes my boyfriend ordered were bland and cold. The music, greens and staff are the only reasons I would go back.
We had a reservation to celebrate my son's birthday. When we arrived there was a camera crew setting up in the restaurant. Unfortunately we happened to be there on the same night a taping of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta was taking place. Instead of restaurant management being proactive and approaching the rest of us "paying" customers asking that we not take any pictures or videos; our table was rudely approached by one of the camera crews security guards instructing us not to take pictures or video. After I addressed the situation with the manager there was no apology or accommodation made for how we were treated. This was my first and only trip to this establishment. Management totally disregarded the situation and did nothing to try and make the rest of us PAYING patrons a nice dining experience.
Excellent live band. Good drinks and reasonably priced. The closest thing to a “lounge” you will find in Atlanta. Classy vibe, but casual attire. The bartenders were phenomenal and the atmosphere is wonderful.
I was visiting Atlanta and came across this restaurant on google. We made reservations and were greeted at the door by a young lady who was very respectful. The drinks were good and the food was very flavorful and satisfying I had the French toast with the sweet auburn salmon hash, I definitely recommend the hash if your into trying new things. The waiter Omar was very respectful and courteous however he wasn’t very attentive but he was serving a lot of tables but we felt like he was catering to other party more because they were larger. Other than that the service was good I will definitely come back to sweet Auburn’s for the food and friendly atmosphere
This place was absolutely AWESOME! I visited on a Sunday afternoon with 4 friends. After about an hour of trying to choose somewhere to brunch at we came across this place. Parking was accessible and and Seating did not take long at all. The service was great and our server Deunte was amazing. He told us everything we needed to know up front so ordering was a breeze. I ordered the Fried Salmon with eggs, Gouda grits, and a biscuit. Pricing was very reasonable. I highly recommend this place and I plan on visiting again!
Visiting Atlanta from out of town, and was looking for something authentic and unique to me. Sweet Auburn seafood accomplished that and much more. Staff was all welcoming and kind, and the wait, even with no reservation, was short. Martinez was our waitress, and she was very quick and accommodating; great server. I ordered the fried shrimp, and I am not exaggerating in saying it was the best shrimp I've had in my life. The live jazz really took my whole experience to another level, with Maduka and company providing the music. Overall great experience, highly recommended.
Went out for a brunch meet up with the girls. I was worried it would be crowded as we know brunch spots can get ridiculous. Arrived around 11:45am, before the rush. Started about 2 hours and it never got crazy crowded. Good came out in maybe 10mins. I got the waffle which came with shrimp and chicken. It was delicious. They currently have $25 bottomless mimosas that you add your choice of syrup to. The mimosas are premixed so if you prefer your mimosa with an alternate juice, you won't be able to simply to so it seems. All and all, good time, enjoyed myself and the food. Will come again.
Oh and parking! Valet is offered for $10 & street for I think $2 an hour.
I would have gave this place a 5 star because the food, the staff and the atmosphere just nothing short of amazing. However, the floors were super sticky like they haven't mopped a in weeks. It felt like walking on glue traps to the table and back out the door, very uncomfortable. The location is good though parking is not hard to find in the area. I have the stuffed flounder and it was phenomenal. Must try place in Atlanta.
Went for birthday celebration. $28 stuffed flounder was served to me so burnt, that I could not cut it! Waitress got attitude because I returned it. My entire party was finished eating before I got another plate, which was not cooked this time! Got mgr to take meal off check. I had to leave hungry because the birthday girl wanted to continue her celebration. They didn't sing Happy Birthday after bringing a dry cake. Best thing about them was the awesome band!
Went to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday with my husband. We had to pay $10 for parking. The restaurant had live music that night. The singer was pretty good. The service was okay, but the food was overpriced. We paid $24 a plate for 6 shrimp and a handful of sweet potato fries. My girlfriend's husband had half a chicken and paid about the same. I would never go back to this restaurant. I don't mind paying when the food is good and I feel like I get my money's worth... not a positive experience. A ripoff.
Nothing but great times at Sweet Auburn! We stumbled across this restaurant- due to another spot nearby being crowded. This was the best decision ever! The customer service was phenomenal! From our greeter, to the 2 managers on the floor to our service, Bri! Everyone had a smile on their faces and made you feel at home! The drinks were great - and the live band.....just the icing on the cake! I will definitely make this a regular stop on my next trip back to the A!!
Where do I start?! It was my first time going for my best friend’s birthday and we went for brunch. Our waiter, Reggie, was phenomenal!! We had a large crowd and he was on point the entire time and no one had an issue with food nor drink orders! He checked on us consistently, had great energy throughout the entire time we were there and genuinely seemed to enjoy what he was doing! There was a DJ playing all the good music, the food was good, drinks were everything, everything was basically..PERFECT!
I was visiting from out of town and was looking for a good place to eat. I came across this place and hot excited. I called and tried to make a reservation but they said they were booked up. I called back to see if walking in was my best option. The server, Reggie picked up the phone and was honest but very helpful. I took my chances and walked in. We had drinks and the bar and were seated shortly after. The server we were supposed to have didn't come over. Then Reggie, who was training a guy named Brandon came over. I was very excited to get him as a server because he was very polite on the phone. Their service was on point! Thanks for making my bday special!
Top Brunch in Atlanta!! Great atmosphere, quality food and reasonable prices. Went here for a Brunch birthday on a Saturday morning and had a great time.
Was able to schedule a table for large group and the servers were very friendly. Very clean place as well along with great drinks and great tasting food.
Highly recommend this place whether your visiting Atlanta or just a local.
The food had a great taste but way to over priced. The service was phenomenal. It was good from the front door to the waiter. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was like being in a club. If that is your scene then this is the place for you. If you just want a nice quiet meal with friends then you should keep looking. I ordered the burger with the shrimp with a side salad. My salad was so basic and the burger was two burger patties nicely seasoned with half melted cheese and 2 pieces of shrimp for $20. That was insane.
My husband and I had a 9pm reservation this past Saturday (7/28/18.) We arrived a little early (around 8:45) and were told by the hostess to "step to the right or the left because your reservation is not until 9 o'clock.) She was rather rude, but no problem. We took seats a the bar and ordered a round of drinks. The live music had started so that was enjoyable. At 9:10 I went back over to the hostess stand to inquire on how much longer our wait for a table would be. The hostess ( a different one) asked if we had signed in. I was HORRIFIED because we had not, nor were we informed that we needed to and in the half hour that we had been waiting SEVERAL parties had come in so I was worried that we had been there all that time without signing in and had somehow been skipped. However, there was a sign in for walk-ins and a tablet for reservations. She told me that there were STILL 3 partied ahead of us and she could not say how much longer we would have to wait. Let me REITERATE that we had a 9pm reservation. I went back to the bar and....we waited. Finally, at 9:40pm I stopped a gentleman who appeared to be the manager and informed him of our situation. He apologized and told me that the hostess "probably thought we were going to stay at the bar." I told him that we would have needed to tell her that and we certainly did not as the bar seats were not the most comfortable for my 5'2" height and no foot rest. He apologized again and bought us a round of drinks. We were FINALLY seated at a table at 9:45pm. Upon his arrival we immediately gave the server our order after having AN HOUR to think about it. We only ordered appetizers. At about 10:15 the server came back to our table to inform us that the kitchen was "backed up" but that our orders would be out shortly. At 10:25pm there were still no orders in sight! We were so disgusted we just left. It wasn't even worth it to me to try and find the manager to complain. Sweet Auburn Seafood is HORRIBLE and we will never return.
Went here late Friday night (12midnight), so glad that I was able to find somewhere to eat like this at midnight. Met owner as I was ordering my food he was very nice and friendly. Actually told him that I almost didn't come to his restaurant because my friends talking about the reviews on the site, I'm so glad that I did the food was very very good. I got the gumbo and the shrimp and grits, no jokes it was so good, that I think I going back today the next day (back to back) and try something else, maybe the crab cakes I don't know I have to look at the menu again. My friend had the seafood nachos and she also said that it was really good!!! Take it from me, sometimes go with your first mind if you like what's on the menu and want to try a restaurant go try it cause people write reviews and sometimes it's not as they say.
The live music was great! As, for as the food I would not recommend this establishment. I had stuffed flounder. The flounder was mashed up. I was expecting a whole piece of fish. The waiter was not punctual. Overall I rate this place a zero. Big Daddy's (Soul Food) would be better than this place.
I found this restaurant on Yelp and check the menu and I was sooooo excited to try it out. I asked my restaurant buddy to join me and let's try it out. We went early to avoid the crowds that can come in Atlanta. I ordered the bang bang shrimp and they were fried nicely with a sweet chili sauce that was very good. So that was a hit. I ordered the Mac & Cheese and when I touched the bowl it felt cold but i tried it anyway and it was lukewarm. I asked our waiter who was great by the way to reheat it for me and he did immediately and it was fine from there. I typically order Shrimp and Grits but I am super glad that I ordered the Shrimp and Lobster Potpie. Lord it was DELICIOUS! It was the main event of this visit. They had several dessert options but I was very satisfied with my meal so I was unable to order dessert. Parking was easy "Thank goodness" use the Parking Mobile app. to park with ease.
So I visited this place cause I'm visiting with my family. I must say that the food was awesome. I ordered Chicken and waffles. The chicken was so juicy and cooked to perfection. The waiter name was Julius and he was great. The power went out twice and he kept reassuring us that he could not hold us there for payment and we left him a great tip. I highly reccomend this place. I will definitely be back on my next visit to Atlanta.
If you appreciate good food, ambience, drinks & service then this is the spot. This past week I had my 30th birthday dinner there and they were so accommodating. Even had front row seats to a great band who took requests and knew how to play the real happy birthday song. Would recommend this spot to anyone who is tired of being mistreated by other establishments in Atlanta. Enjoy and thanks for the great time Sweet Auburn Seafood! I'll be back *Terminator Voice*
One of the best restaurants I have ever been too. The food there is phenomenal! I had the flounder and my friend had the lamb chops and the food literally melted in my mouth. The service there is amazing and everybody is so nice. The food is so worth the price.
My first time dining at this establishment. Service was really good. Food was good. Drinks were also good. I would go back. Especially because it's great to support Black owned businesses.
We had a great experience with our party of 9. Royal was our waitress and she was super friendly and attentive to our table's needs. The food was delicious. The banana pudding was perfect - not too sweet. Parking was easy and the pricing was good too. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the building just seems outdated. It's a little creepy going to the bathroom with open offices on side of the bathroom. However, we look forward to going again.
There are many good reviews on here maybe that is relating toward dinner I'm not sure but I'm here to tell you that the Brunch is so not good. My family and I went here and we had a excellent waiter but the food could have been better. My grits were hard as rock, my sister found shells in her eggs, the calamari is filled with sodium, the waffles has to much nutmeg and cinnamon, some of our food came out cold . Honestly the best to order is the chicken, you cant go wrong with that. Maybe I came during a wrong time but I want be back no time soon! Definitely over rated!
Our server was attentive and offered suggestions. They were filming a commercial during our visit but it did not interfere with our food coming at a reasonable time. The broth in my pot pie was delicious, my lobster was cooked perfectly. I'd go again.
The best everything!! Service, food, drinks, atmosphere, good looking people. I love this place. I had the fried salmon which was recommended by our fantastic waiter and it was scrumptious !!
I saw the 4 star rating and thought that it must be good. However, I agree with most people who have reviewed. It is more like a two star. The reason why, is that the seafood taste frozen, and they are completely overpriced. The fries were $5 a piece, and it looked like it was just topped with store brought Parmesan. Maybe it was a bad experience for me.
I love that this restaurant is a black-owned business! The downfall is the food and the price. The seafood taste frozen and not fresh :/ also the fries cost $5!! the fries are literally regular fries with grated Parmesan nothing special for 5 bucks!
I’m not sure why this restaurant has 4 stars. It’s a solid 2 at best. I might eat out more than the average person but this restaurant was by far my least favorite. Over priced below average to average food. Seems like a good place to enjoy watching a game on tv with a few drinks but that’s it. I’d suggest you try it once so you know never to go back. Thank God a had a pretty decent waitress.
Nice atmosphere and decor (the paper table cloths seemed a little out of place though). The food was very good. We had crab cakes, bang bang shrimp, calamari, and mussels.
Smaller review based on their shrimp & grits. Selected this option based on pictures and a friends recommendation. Let's start with the presentation , which...read this and 481 more
