How would you rate Negril Village Atlanta?
Had the jerk chicken and waffles for brunch on a Saturday. Bruh. It was so good. Great portions. Good price. Very nice decor. Will definitely go back.
I came here on an informal business lunch with 3 others. While there weren't that many people at the restaurant for lunch, our service was great! The server (I forgot his name, but a lovely chap) was really great about explaining the items, drinks, etc. on the menu to us newbies. The food came out VERY fast, I would say. I had the oxtail pasta, which isn't the most traditional Jamaican way to have oxtail, but wow was it delicious!! Perfectly seasoned, not too rich, yet still filling, just a little spice...yum!
The decor and restaurant itself is beautiful (restored firehouse), and I will be sure to make a trip back. The only "complaint" I would have is that I blew by the parking lot on my first 'round the block, not really knowing it was the lot you were supposed to use if you're at the restaurant (it's a paid, public lot, not exclusive to the restaurant). As it was a paid lot, I just used a metered space around the corner that I was closer too anyway. I do hate to pay for parking, but the lunch was so good, I will be sure to come back again, regardless!
Service was awful. Restaurant was out of to go boxes. It took 20 minutes to get a bill. My food was lukewarm at best. Another plate had burnt bacon. Wish I could upload a picture because we definitely took one. Also, I asked to have my burger cut in half and was informed that I had my own butter knife at the table and that "they" (the cooks, I suppose) don't like to do modifications. (It's difficult to bite into a burger with braces.) I guess I was asking for too much.
I've been here a couple of times before and absolutely LOVED it. Food is great and atmosphere is welcoming. Which is why when I had visitors come in, I bragged about coming here. Well I was so shame. We went on Sunday before last and was completely disappointed. After I boast about the oxtails, the restaurant ran out before we got there (around 12:30PM). So I settled for the Lobster, Shrimp and Grits (not the best). When it was time for my friend to order, she ordered, the French Toast. Waitress said they were out of that as well. WTH! She went for the Jerk Chicken and Waffles (still one of the best dishes on the menu). My other friend ordered the steak which was extremely overcooked. granted the best thing was the Jerk Chicken and Waffles, I was still upset that this JAMIACAN Restaurant had the audacity to run out of oxtails. Plus service was unnecessarily slow. Your Sunday Brunch has gotten more popular. Kitchen and Waitress staff should be able to accommodate crowd. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I would hate for them to go out of business due to poor management of food inventory, scheduling, and efficiency.
Food and drink was good. But service was horrible. The food form the kitchen to the waitress. Took about an hr waiting time.
Overall the concept of this place is ideal. However the food was Luke warm and I would not consider it authentic Caribbean food. To top it all of my friend having this being the first time trying "Caribbean" food ordered the ox tail pasta and it wasn't what he expected so he asked for something else and the manager told him he had to pay for half the dish and still pay full price if he ordered something else....UNBELIEVABLE! I've been to far more upscale restaurants and they would never treat their customers this way. Disappointing.
Manager was absolutely wonderful upstairs staff went above and beyond to correct a reservation error. It's unfortunate i couldn't say the same for the hired help at the front door to check in guest who made reservations. He was rude , uncooperative, and unprofessional after I clearly stated on two attempts I made specific reservations for the upstairs dining area. He attempted too still seat us downstairs to order dinner and suggested that we carry our food upstairs to watch the live performance.?? He was certainly a very odd individual to say the least. He also raised his voice in an attempt too try and make my already unhappy experience with him much worse..not to mention i already waited more then 15 min just be seated . I don't know if he understood English or if he was just pretending not too understand English. However he definitely should not greet anyone at any professional place of business here or the country he came from originally.
The spot was real nice. Definitely nice décor and the food was excellent. I wish it was better lit... Too dim for my liking. But our waitress was horrible, forgetful, inattentive and probably has some hearing problem.
Went here this past Sunday for my birthday with a few friends. It was my first time there and I actually loved the place. It was completely different from other spots I've been to in the Atlanta area. I did the brunch and I thought the food was great. Had the waffles, jerk chicken and omelet with all the fruit I could eat. Only recommendation is that they have heated syrup and butter for the waffles. That would have been perfect. Anyway, the crowd was great, the music both upstairs and downstairs was awesome. Parking can be a challenge on brunch Sunday unless you get there around noon or you'll have to walk from one of the nearby parking lots. It seems the average parking in the area is 10 bucks. Never-the-less, while it wasn't a perfect experience, it was a very good one. The staff I dealt with were pretty good, there was some forgetfulness like another reviewer described but it wasn't an issue with my group. I'd definitely go back again and plan to soon!
I wish I could give separate reviews based on my experience. My first visit to Negril Village will not be my last.
Parking: 1 Star: Its best you pay for the 3 hours because you may get lost with time if you like it.
Concierge: 1 Star: When my girlfriend and I arrived, they were at intermission (between 4pm & 5pm) so, one concierge took out seating and while had drinks at the bar for them to call us for our table they never came. I had to go up and say something.
Bar: 5 Stars: The Mixologist were great! The drinks were great! Their service was great.
Seating: 2 Start: If you do not have more than a party of 3, you can not get a booth. You'll have to sit at the open tables.
Waiter (Terrence): 3 Stars: Knows the menu pretty well and but seemed to forget about us a few times. Kinda all over the place with his customers.
Food: 5 Stars: I had the Jerk Chicken and Waffles and my Girlfriend had the OX Tail Pasta...AWSOME! Please try the Collard Green Spring Rolls and the Ox Tail Empanadas for your App.
The upstairs bar and private room is awesome, gonna have my next birthday party here.
Consistent with the Stigma. Avoid for Large Parties or Upscale Events
I produced a charity event at Negril Village in November 2015. There were several challenges with the venue, which I reported in a post event letter. The letter was emailed TWICE to several personnel, yet no one responded. I will therefore share my concerns publicly. The challenges were as follows:
1. Poor Communication: Initial meeting with Marva was great. When she passed me on the Clive (GM, I assume), communication dropped-off vastly after they received the initial deposit. Emails and calls to Clive were not returned, which caused consternation going into the event.
2. Insufficient Servers: Though the advanced estimate of 70 guests was spot-on, the facility did not have sufficient servers. Food was served excessively late in many cases, with some guests receiving food 1 hour later than others, though nearly all guests were in place when the first table was served. There were also occasions of select individuals receiving dinner at a table while others at the same table received their dinner significantly later. Bottles of wine, which should have been brought out along with the meals, were enormously late in some cases. The white wine at several tables was not served in ice buckets. There were several bottles of wine that was brought to tables uncorked, and left.
3. Unexpected Upcharge for Wine. During the process of closing out the payment, The event coordinator, Tasha, apparently instructed by a senior person, brought a check that included a bill that was nearly 3 times the agreed upon price for bottle of wine.I was informed that because we exceeded the contracted bottles of wine that the “overage” would be charged at the much higher rate! I adamantly refused the pay the amount, and found the suggestion disturbing. Exceeding the bottle count is not to the detriment of the venue, and if it is due to not having more bottles of the specified wine, common courtesy calls for advanced notice before charging a customer nearly three times the agreed amount. I refused to pay the amount and only paid the agreed upon per bottle amount for the overages.
4. Faulty WiFi Access. I clearly indicated in advance the importance of WiFi due to onsite payments and donations. Though we tried the given password several times on two different units, we were not able to gain access. The password was written down by Tasha, we entered it precisely to no avail. As a work-around, we used a personal hotspot to process our transactions.
5. Parking Nightmare. During the initial venue meeting I was informed about the parking access at Bank of America parking garage, particularly if there was an event scheduled at the Fox Theatre. That option was then clearly communicated to the guests. No one at the venue informed us that the garage would close down at 10:30. Several guests were either locked inside of the garage, or locked outside and prevented from securing their vehicles for 30 to 45 minutes. If the venue suggested that we park there, I believe the venue should have also advised us that the parking garage would close at a certain hour.
The most disturbing part about all of this, is that not a single responsible person at the restaurant responded to the letter. They have lost customers and proven themselves worthy of the very stigma that is attached to many minority owned businesses. Unfortunate.
I hosted an event in the Private Room upstairs and could not have been more pleased. From inception to execution Clive was right there, and all contingencies were covered. It therefore was a worry-free event for me.
Servers were plentiful and courteous. The arranged music and drinks were wonderful and the staff even stayed late because guests were having such a good time! Will definitely host there again.
1st time here and Had a great night with my girls at Negril Village. Really nice atmosphere, food is great. Everything we ate was great. The red peas/beef soup was soooo good. Music was on point. Our server Rashad did an awesome awesome job. Really attentive and personable. Great 1st experience.
My wife took me there this weekend for my birthday. From the start the whole experience was excellent! It was a Saturday night, the atmosphere was intimate, yet lively, reggae-infused background music (a couple of old goodies were playing as well through the night). For appetizers we ordered the collard greens spring rolls that came with a sweet chili sauce. For entrees, my wife ordered the Oxtails Pasta and I ordered the Jerk Chicken Plate. For cocktails she ordered the Village Island Rum Punch and I ordered the Dark and Stormy. Dessert was the raisin bread pudding with a white rum sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Everything was on point! Food, drinks and desserts were awesome! It was our first time there and its instantly become one of my favorite spots! Will be back!
A1 Brunch Spot on Sunday's. Order the Jerk Chicken & Waffle!
The food is wonderful, when it does come. They brought main courses then the appetizer second. Main dish had to be sent back due to temp of food. Parking is not good, but street parking is available. I asked for a manager but no one came. Server was not the problem.
They took good care of me and my party! Reggae Friday was awesome! The food was great! Make sure you are very nice to the hostess she got me the best table in the house!
Great place but it's not worth the parking fees! The lot beside Negril only holds 15-20 cars and they charge $15. There is a lot a block away that charge $20 (probably not the best for women in heels to walk that far). The sticker shocker is the price they charge to valet...$30!!!! They have to figure something out quick before they lose customers!
I absolutely loved each bite. The cheesy grits, crispy fish, dumplings, bottomless mimosas....
I could go on. The service was timely and sharp. (Sopeak you saved the afternoon!) However, waiting with a party with a reservation was unexpected and annoying. The front of the restaurant had an inconsistent process that gave patrons no faith they would ever eat (even with a reservation).
Had an awesome experience! Nice service, great tasty food. I had the "oxtails with rice and beans and vegetables"and my husband had "jerk chicken and waffles". Will definitely come back.
Poor customer service. Was treated poorly at the waiting line only to find out that the person was the owner of the restaurant. He continuously ignored me while I was waiting in the line and let others pass me by. On top of that he ALLOWED someone to cut in between our conversation. A CUSTOMER had to tell him that he was not being fair to me and my friends because we were waiting for a while. His STAFF had to apologize on his behalf. Don't bother wasting your time or your money. If you can deal with rude people then go right ahead.

Great location and decor, food was sub-par. I'm of Jamaican descent, and that was not, I repeat, THAT WAS NOT authentic Jamaican food. This will make the second stop of Jamaican restaurants that has come up short here in Atlanta. Please consider this as a caution before you eat here.

First I want to start by saying the overall experience was nice. Now on to the pros and cons. We are currently here on Sunday April 17. We are here for a friend's birthday party. When we first arrived it was chaos. We had a 12 o'clock reservation and didn't get seated until about 12:20pm. No one knew were the party of 25 were seated. We had to figure it out on our own. The wait staff were good and polite. The food was well favored and tasty. The DJ did her thang! LOL! Parking was terrible. Overly crowded! Some equipment was faulty. A lady's chair broke while eating. Well I guess that is enough. I would like to try this again but no time soon.
Amazing food. Great service. Loved the laidback atmosphere. Also had a great time during the day party at brunch with the dj!
My first time visiting and I wasn't impressed. Although the restaurant has an outstanding ambience inside, the customer service and food wasn't the best. Our server was slow waiting on us and it wasn't like the restaurant was crowded. She seemed to be new because every time we asked her a question about the menu she had to "go and check". The food was not what we expected. It was VERY mediocre. I've had better Caribbean cuisine at the neighborhood Jamaican place down the street from where I live. And they're food is authentic. I'm certain I won't be returning back to Negril Village Atlanta. The price of the mediocre food and lack of good service was definitely not worth the visit......especially for first time customers.
Went there this past Saturday with a party of 7
Enjoyed the Service and food. I was quite impressed since they were very busy. The food was delicious.. Everyone was well pleased with there order.
The Live DJ was on point, as a West Indian the atmosphere was top notch mixed with the island family feel. The only reason I gave 4 stars was the portions, for what I paid for me and my wife I felt like i didn't get my money's worth. The flavor and style that went into the food however was AMAZING their chef knows what he/she is doing. Definitely going back just not for full belly, just drinks and apps
Excited by the prospect of some great "home cooking." Unfortunately I was quite underwhelmed. The ackee tostones appetizer was quite tasty while the rum glazed shrimp appetizer was decent - could have been flavored a bit more. I ordered the glazed jerk salmon with asparagus and sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes where quite bland and a bit undercooked. The salmon though prepared well also was underwhelming flavor wise, I could barely taste the jerk seasoning. The curry shrimp entree with jasmine rice was decent as well ,suffering the same fate as the jerk salmon. Bland flavoring and the curry a tad bit watered down. I ordered the pain killer alcoholic beverage which was pretty good and the rum punch was also very good. You can taste all the mixed ingredients and they did not skimp on the rum.
The service however was way better than the food. Our server was quite prompt and pleasant and our entrées and appetizers came out in no time at all.
Now maybe I was expecting a reggae or dancehall vibe when it came to the live music which is upstairs. Though I was disappointed that there was none of what I had hoped for , the band was quite good and the female singer had an amazing voice, freestyle singing to A Tribe Called Quests electric relaxation. A very talented young lady whose voice is reminiscent of Erykah Badu.
Parking is tight in the back so get there early. There is however a very good valet service that uses a digital system that you use 10 mins before you are ready to leave. Your car will be waiting for you as you exit. A bit pricey at 20 dollars, but I understand that I'm paying for convenience.
Went to Negril Village to celebrate someone's birthday. There was no parking left next to the restaurant but fortunately I could park on W. Peach tree for free. We were sitted upstairs for the Sunday brunch. The food was excellent and waiters were fine but the problem was the LOUD music. We asked if the DJ could turn it down and she did a little but as soon as we got up to get our food she turned it back up and even louder. First of all I know how loud music effects hearing and when it is so loud that you can't even carry on a conversation without yelling that is totally unacceptable. Secondly when music is so loud that you're chest is pounding while you are trying to eat, that is so inconsiderate. Music can be enjoyed without it blasting. My father was a musician and I a music major. Give your customers some respect.
Great place to grab some great food. My first time here was for lunch on my birthday. The staff great and the food even better ✅👍
I wanted to check out the Saturday brunch because it had a DJ and bottomless mimosas. The mimosas were pretty good - they have a punch flavored one that's popular instead of the traditional oj. Parking is ridiculously overpriced. $20 for valet. You can self park for less if there are any spots left. The food is so-so, it could use a little more seasoning. Overall, I give it a 3/5 for brunch. I'd go on a week night when its less crowded and parking is cheaper.
Very nice place. They have a fantastic Rum Punch that was very balanced. A lot of places will make those with too much mix or too much rum but they got it right. The food was good and the Ox tail was very tender. Service was friendly.
We came on a weekday evening. The jerk salmon, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus are so delish! And we ordered the cornbread served with guava butter, it was wonderful. The wait staff was excellent, especially Stephanie. They should add fried yucca to their menu.
We made reservations for 2pm didn't get seated till 3 something. Host at the front are awful and this was the second time coming here with basically the same experience. The food is OK and when I say OK it's cooked. But the entertainment there is EVERYTHING the girl who sings on Sunday is AMAZING. But everything is not good at all.
Love this place,
A great bar, inspired food, and a cool atmosphere all around. I really enjoyed the screening room aspect as well, although I feel service can "lag" up there a bit. The Sky Juice was phenomenal alongside the Collard Green Egg Rolls and Cod Fish Fritters. The bartender was friendly and tentative, even with a fairly busy bar going.
The staff is very pleasant, fun and professional. The food is great, both taste and presentation. They have additional menu items on Tuesday's featuring grilled special dishes on the patio. I tried the pork and found it very succulent, tender, moist and flavourful. On another note, I watched them handle a VERY disrespectful and obnoxious guest with the upmost patience and courtesy. I am all around very impressed with this landmark restaurant. I will definetly be coming back when I am back in the city.
The customer service was outstanding. Really nice atmosphere. We got the jerk salmon with asparagus and sweet potatoes. the salmon and asparagus were delicious but there was nothing special with the sweet potatoes. We also got some rice and curry goat I believe? It was delicious as well. Would highly recommend.
Customer service experience was A1 our waitress was pleasant & knew the menu well enough to suggest the best tasting dishes & appetizers on the menu. The food was fresh & hot when it arrived to the table. Everything was delicious. I will be back real soon! Congratulations for being the BEST.
My husband and I went for New yearsEve. Everything was amazing!! The Dj, food, bartenders and the atmosphere. Fun with other grown people. I will suggest this place to anyone. Hope they do something again this year!
First time ever in my 50+ years posting a review. Had a problem with the seating. Of course brought in the manager to resolve - who was unnecessarily rude and could have found numerous ways to make it a win for us without inconveniencing either the restaurant or other customers - but chose not to. I can't recommend this place for that reason. The feeling I left with, right or wrong, was that they didn't give a hoot if they lost a customer, they have plenty of them. In my humble opinion, there are plenty of places in that locale that are inviting and diverse and want your patronage.
Great environment. My honey had a complaint and it was adressed right away in a professional manner. Thank you. Food was yummy.
I absolutely LOVE this place! Brunch buffet could be a little less expensive, but everything was delicious! The staff and owners were the perfect mix of friendly, professional and fun. I would eat here every week if I lived in the area.
Enjoyed the Sunday Brunch Buffet with Bottomless Mimosas. The staff was great and DJ was on point. The Male Staff and Waiters are very handsome and fine especially the light skinned one with the dreads. Cant wait to return.
Great atmosphere, Great Music, Good food, Terrible Customer Service. Waitress Alexis had the worse attitude ever didn't greet our table of 8. She didn't deserve a tip but because of gratuity she made out good.
We dined here for brunch on Sunday. The meal was fine service was slow...Server was obviously overwhelmed. That isn't my problem though. I paid part of my portion of the bill with cash and the rest with my card. I checked my charges before I left and was immediately concerned because I had been charged twice once for the correct amount and once for triple those charges. I spoke with the manager who stated that she voided the transaction. She did not void the correct transaction and after 3 days of trying to get a proper follow-up from managers at the restaurant I've been forced to file a claim with my own bank. Horrible management response and incompetent people on the phone.
This was my first visit. The service and food was great. The only downside was the parking. It cost 20 to valet or self park. Of course this was New Year's Eve. Usually it's 6 through the week and 10 on weekends.
Waited entirely too long! Almost 2 hrs to later be told they ran out of certain dishes. Staff was not accommodating for a very hungry and disappointed family. I have eaten here before and my organization supports them for events but after a great afternoon at the Fox theatre. Negril Village was not the place to go. I can't give my money to poor service or unreasonable wait times. 45 minutes turned into 2 hrs and sad faces😩
Wife and I dined here before a show at the Fox. All of the food was amazing. Jerk shrimp was delicious and the Snapper was simply amazing. Desert was simple but just the right thing to finish an amazing meal.
The BEST!! I enjoyed my experience here for the third time. I love the atmosphere and the staff is amazing. The food was a big hit and the drinks were made well. I brought a group of friends from out of town and the enjoyed it as well. We will be back.
Everything here is delicious and the place itself is beautiful! I love the decor and servers are quick and very attentive. One of my favorite go to spots. Also, they have great private rooms upstairs for renting, beautiful rooms, rustic and elegant. Beware of parking in the lot, it is private and goes up to $20 when the Fox has a show. BUT there is metered parking on W. Peachtree right in front of Marta, $4/2hrs, it's a quick walk to the restaurant. I did it in high heels going and coming, no problem, so very close.
My first experience was not so great. But this time around it was different. Self parking was full so valet was our only option which was great. I just wish they would invest in better parking arrangements. Be prepared to make reservations in order to ensure speedy service. This place is reasonably priced and the drinks were great. The menu could be more extensive but with an island background, everything I needed was in attendance. I will definitely be back for brunch.
Nice place. A once upon a time converted fire station, now a pleasant restaurant specializing in Jamaican food...get it - Negril Village - Jamaica :) Food is great, so are the cocktails. Service is just dang slow. On the second floor they have the "screening room" where they hold screenings for local art films. Come back for a Dark and Stormy and a movie, bring your patience.
Love this place, I always end up going on an evening during the weekend. It's fun with a dash of grown folk, and a side of chilled sexy. Music is great.. me and my girls ussually spot man candy there... and the food (esp. the chicken and waffles) is great!
I loved this place. The ambiance is a social-upbeat down stairs and romantic smooth sounds upstairs. The food is really good. You had better pack your wallet with large bills before you come. It a little expensive, but well worth it.
Usually, you would have to choose between great quality food OR great customer service. But Negril offered us a wonderful experience when the two mended together. Our waiter Shawn was exceptional. The cook was spot on w/ the food from the beginning to end. The other employees were just as attentive in making sure we had a pleasant evening as well. One of the few Jamaican restaurants anywhere, to get it right. Decor, food, service, ambiance, location...and let's not forget one my favorite parts of the experience, spending time w/ my husband, sister, and brother in law, listening to some good music all night. This place came highly recommended, and now I pass on the same recommendation.
If you wanna try this place try it on a Sunday. Get there early for brunch or make a reservation. This place was packed and busy. The live band was great ....and the vocalist........Man!! Serious vocals!!!!!!THE FOOD IS DELECTABLE!!!! Everything on the menu looked amazing, it so hard to choose. The Banana Foster French Toast WILL SET YOU FREE!!!! And as busy as this place was our server Brandee was on time and on point!! If you haven't been to Negril Village you need to get there ASAP!!!
Great experience. I went with a large party on a Friday during lunch time. The food was great. Never get the oxtail pasta but I did enjoy the Oxtail plate. The food is great portions. The staff was great. The drinks were wonderful and everything homemade with the herbs and spices that they use. The rum punch and Jack Daniel Sangria was everything! Prices was not as bad as I thought it would be.
The food was amazing! And I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of the live band on Sunday afternoon. The place got packed indoors and out all at once & the kitchen got a little backed up, but the service was great and we were comped drinks without even asking. The food was definitely worth the wait and the price was very fair!
The brunch was good. Music was great. The atmosphere is awesome. The decor was top notch. The service was on point. No complaints any time I go.
Great for girls night out, date night and group dinners. Loved the hibiscus sorrel margarita and the staff is friendly. If you're dining in make a reservation and be prepared to pay for parking in the lot next door.
I have heard so much about this place and so I had to check it out. The folks there were very pleasant, mainly the young guy that does the take-out orders. However the food was average, very basic oxtails....try Scotch-Bonnett for some real flavor. In addition, the serving size was small and they do not take credit/debit cards without a chip. However, I will try them again and order another dish.
My friend and I loved the jerk chicken and waffles so much that we brought a group back the next night to enjoy them again. I'm not usually a fan of sweet "tropical" cocktails, but I really liked theirs, including the dark & stormy featuring their house-made ginger beer and painkiller featuring their house-made sorrel. They will also let you sample a couple of the cocktails if you need help making up your mind! The service was also great both nights.
This is my second time here tonight! First time was a year ago, we come for a bday celebration every year! Last year everything was excellent!! Tonight not so!! My family's rice and shrimp were cold and shrimp were tough! Not happy, only gave 3 stars for last years service and the good music.
Great food & great service and live music. My fiance' and I decided to do a Sunday brunch here. Every time we are in Atlanta we always make sure to get some Caribbean cuisine... We arrived around 11:45-12pm which was prefect timing because once we were seated a line began to form. Now we didn't have reservations so they only had their outside patio available. The inside wait was 45mins. None the less the food was great and since my man is from the islands he is a very hard critic on Caribbean food. He loved it. We will definitely return.
Very nice ambience. The food was average. The live band was too loud. so, you really couldn't get to have a conversation on a normal voice level. You'll pretty much be hoarse by the time you leave. Once we ordered our food, it took us 3 hours before we got our food. Our waiter was nice. I don't think I'll be back, though.
This was my first time coming to the restaurant for my birthday. We got there for our 6 pm seating and was immediately seated. Appetizers were good. Food was a B. I have been to other spots where food had better carribbean flavor. Great atmosphere although website said live band starts at 6 pm they started as we were leaving around 8 pm. I had a great time with my group of friends. The host patience at the end was questionable. She gave a few "hints" she was ready for us to leave. It was a big group so I thought our time there was reasonable. I will give them another try with a smaller group.
I have been here once before and was not happy with the portions of the food for the cost, yet came again for a birthday brunch… I officially will never come here again, couldn’t pay me. Spent $40 on a regular buffet which did not include mimosas/ drinks / nothing (isn’t that the point of brunch??) I ordered drinks that were weak for $12 ea. A WASTE – Last, a person from our party paid for parking yet still got a boot on their car because it was after 4pm. This was never advised that the time of parking not to mention your guest are paying for parking to spent money at an establishment only to come out and cough of another $75 for a boot. Dear owners, people are paying for service, don’t forget that. Do better!
Negril Village delivers great service and food in an awesome atmosphere with amazing decor, quality live music and convenient parking (valet or a self-park adjacent to the restaurant). The oxtails, jerk chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, jerk salmon, rice and peas, etc. are quite tasty Caribbean fair. The dining and bar areas were full and the food was still delivered quickly, fresh and hot.
Waited almost 1.5 hours for food that never showed up. When I asked for the check the waitress sat at the bar for an addition 15 minutes in hopes that the food would come out. After clarifying that I just wanted the check she had someone else ring up the bill. Thankfully I used valet parking instead of the hourly parking or else I would have paid even more money not to eat. It would have helped if the manager who had been walking around actually took the time to help elevate the situation but she was not engraving with the guest nor was she trying to figure out why her kitchen was an hour behind. She did not come over to apologize or offer a complimentary appetizer until the food came out. The food is good but not worth the price and bad service that comes with it , if you receive a plate at all.
Was there last night. Horrible experience, went to bar with date, there were 6 people including us, two batenders and we were being OBVIOUSLY ignored. Few min later 2 new bartenders, looked at us through corner of eyes and refused to help. After 10 min of this we left disgusted! I want to the bar around the corner, we dropped a $150 +30 tip, were seated upstairs and were well taken care. Of your bar staff is ignoring people because of the color of their skin and they complain about lack of tips, they deserve what the fail to net, the fact that mgmt is unaware of the obvious skin issue, I hope you tenure is short. After eating at a better place we went to the Fox and watched the color purple and the cast were obvious pros, fantastic show, worth the $$$ for the better seats.
The food is way too expensive for tiny portions. 20 bucks for average and NOT SPICY jerk chicken and rice. Parking should be validated at least! Caesar taste store bought. Looks great, Slow service. Not impressed. Wish i could give 0 stars.
Fast service and the food was really good. Nice atmosphere too. I had the roti, I liked they gave you the skin separate from the meat and let you put it together yourself. The homemade ginger beer was excellent! Convenient paid parking next door.
The funnest and livest brunch ever! The food at the buffet is immaculate! The food is great! Island breakfast and dinner. I couldn't stop eating. The DJ is one of the best that I've experienced! Great vibes, great food,
Excellent. Probably could do with a extra bartender as only 2 were working on the night but everything else was on point. The bread pudding and ice cream is a must try. Had the ladies moaning, real talk.
I truly loved the ambiance of the facility and the food was absolutely wonderful. However, our company booked a "private party" and we were not allowed to take carry out...wrong on so many levels. I know our company spent a nice penny for a private room and this is how you handle business. Oh and not to mention cramped small parking spaces to PAY for and to have some of my co-workers cars booted. No, not doing it again. Can you say make some changes.
Saturday brunch was good. Although busy the atmosphere was lit with the DJ mixing while Yu eat. Also the servers were attentive and we got sat pretty quickly, although it was a line. For brunch I had the oxtail hash, it's sweet because the has is sweet potatoes, but once I added salt , I had the contrast I needed. Really good!
This is a great restaurant with great food. I went on a Sunday for brunch. The atmosphere is awesome and the patrons make it even better. The live music was great too. The only downfall is the long wait and the parking. It's downtown Atlanta... So the bad parking is somewhat expected. But it's very expensive. We waited more than an hour for our table. But it was worth it! We had a great time.
We went for New Year's Eve and were late for our reservation but they still were able to accommodate us. They food was EXCELLENT and service at first was slow then turned out to be great, especially since we were a party of 8. I recommend, great Jamaican food in a nice atmosphere!
nice restaurant. very accommodating, we had a party of 10 adults 3 toddlers. not once did I catch a snide or side eye from the staff . other families had children dining in.
I took my sister there for her birthday...the atmosphere was loud, energetic, and fun!!! The live music and DJ were awesome! We had so much fun! Our server, Alexis was very attentive and our food was great, though a bit spicy due to the jerk. Collard green egg rolls were AMAZING!!! Drinks were strong, and we enjoyed our night!
The food, the location, the ambiance is fantastic. You can't go wrong with traditional Jamaican dishes like Jerk Chicken or Curry Goat, or more mainstream dishes like Shrimp and Grits. It's a cool environment and service is good. The rum punch is legit - not too weak which is good also. The only thing that holds back 5 stars is the wait, even WITH a reservation. Having a reservation and still waiting 20 minutes to be seated isn't cool. But you can get past it once you get to the dining experience. Would recommend everyone trying it out - just go at an off time if you lack patience.
I'm so happy I had the chance to have dinner here on a Friday evening while visiting ATL for a conference. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was so pleasant and provided great service. I was also pleasantly surprised when the live band showed up. It was a bit loud at times which made it a difficult to converse but I enjoyed the smooth island vibes. I highly recommend this spot!
EAT HERE! This restaurant was recommended from an Atlanta local that I met while waiting in line for another breakfast place. I am so glad that place was too busy. This is authentic Jamaican food...FOR BRUNCH! Jerk chicken and waffles is amazing. And this is the only place outside of Jamaica that I've had Bammie that is made correctly. The food is great, but the wait can be long, especially on Sunday. The location is a historic fire engine house. A wonderful Atlanta discovery!
Fantastic place. Food, drinks and service exceptional. Music (Caribbean) will make you get up and dance. And we did. Attire semi formal/elegant casual. Full bar. 1st floor live music. 2nd FL recorded music. Great place for a small celebration party 12-15 people.
Really love their happy hour, it was one of the first times I went & it's super cite in the summer time as well just eating outside in the city I love it. It wasn't pricey at all. During regular hours I highly suggest making reservations weeks or months before you come so many people love this place. Good food & entertainment all together. You will enjoy
Love the atmosphere. Beautiful establishment. Service was rather slow. The front host/reception desk was often vacant. BTW! If you order the ox tail hash just be advised that there's very very little oxtail in it. It should be called the sweet potato hash because that's mostly what you get.
The worst customer service. I went to meet some friends. While I was waiting, the bar took forever to take my order. They brought out curry goat instead of curry chicken. So I had to wait to for them to recook it. When my friends came I boxed the rest of my food and went upstairs to join them. I order a drink and the manager comes over and starts yelling at me saying "YOU CAN'T DO THAT" In broken English. I'm like what??? The server has to translate and say "you can't eat that food up here". I still look puzzled. He says "Did you order that here? I said yeah, you don't recognize your own boxes??? My drink comes out half an hour later. I order bread and plantains. They run out of bread and never bring out the plantains. Food is good but customer service is the worst.
Definitely recommend if you like Jamaican food. Ox tails, jerk chicken and waffles, red snapper, Mac and cheese all on point. Great service. Food came out quick and good prices. Will definitely go back next time I'm here. Nice vibe. Old fire house turned restaurant.
We went here on a date night and really enjoyed ourselves;however when we attempted to make a reservation for our daughters graduation celebration, open table would only allow us to make a reservation for 9. When we called to add one. We were told (rudely I might add) that I couldn't because they were fully booked. I have a hard time understanding how you are the person responsible for the phone with service that poor. If you're on a date, go but if it's a celebration this may not be the spot unless you're renting the private area upstairs.
Negril Village is wonderful. The food is excellent as well as the service. One thing to note. The Sunday buffet doesn't start until noon. It's much cheaper than ordering off the menu. Authentic
Great location and ambiance in a good looking place. Inadequate parking. Staff was short and not friendly. Our waiter mixed up everyone's orders (and this was after we waited for food over an hour and it came out lukewarm). He did not apologize for anything and suggested that we pay for what he's given us. He relented when he realized that was not going to happen and I was over it at that point because he really tried us like that. Lastly I'm tickled by all the high praise the food gets because this is not great Jamaican food it's palatable but far from great.
Love the bread pudding, which came in big bowl swimming in a delicate sauce taste like rum & cream. The decor and ambience of this restaurant is chic & comfortable. Not as crowded for lunch, which was great. The waitress was friendly but the food was disappointed not as fresh as I had expected. Had the spicy jerk chicken, which was peppery good and season well. The rice and peas taste a day old. My guest had oxtail. The food was lukewarm, not what I expected. Pricey.... Paid parking is available if you go....Near the restaurant.
Food was flavorful, atmosphere wonderful, and staff friendly. What made our experience for my daughter's 21st birthday was our server Shamorri.
He was attentive and interacted with our entire party seamlessly. He professionally explained matters that should have clarified prior by the event planner but had not. That is why only 4 stars.
The food was good & the ambiance was nice. The parking situation was left to be desired. My husband & i went for date night and did not notice a sign to pay, the lot is right next to the restaurant & we were booted. We are not from the area so it needs to be clear for visitors. I would definitely recommend the restaurant, i enjoyed it.
First of all the the house was over-the-top with hospitality he was very familiar with the minion and suggested with full detailed description and flavor items for dinner. He was lovely and also help us with making plans in the city. And so willing to take a beautiful picture for us. The waitress was very patient and loving and informational as well. Then the food was so traditional and genuine West Indian food I had the oxtails and they were so tender and flavorful my two Associates had the waffle and chickens which she was very pleased with and the other one had the curry goat and she cleaned her plates. I would definitely recommend this Jamaican restaurant to anyone that's in the mood for West Indian Cuisine. And I will be going back just make sure you make reservations because it gets full quick.
Good food, great band on Friday night! Loved the ambience of the venue. Sadly, our waitress had no personality, was inattentive, and very short as we interacted with her. She didn't remove our plates from the table for over an hour. I finally had to ask. Didn't refill drinks. Guess she thought she didn't need to give good service since there was gratuity already included for our sizable party. Sadly, she only took money out of her own pocket as all of us would have tipped more.
Went for brunch on Sunday. It started off really rough, we had to wait on several items to be replaced, the staff passed us several times not offering any water, drinks or even acknowledging the fact that we were there. I went and addressed my concerns with the manager who immediately rectified every last issue.
Overall the food was good, DJ was great ended up having a decent time.
Would go back just to have a better experience.
Love, love, love it! I went for the first time two weeks ago and had to go back within a week. Everything I've tried is delicious! The drinks are a bit strong but still tasty. The staff and customers are beautifully brown!
Where do I start? The jerk chicken and waffles infused with pineapple or the awesome drinks. All the food is absolutely delicious and not overly spicy. The mac and cheese is the best in the city. On Sundays there is brunch with a live band. I always leave stuffed and sleepy😊. The ambiance is classic and comfortable. The wait staff is professional with tons of personality.
Everything was "AWESOME" it was perfect I couldn't ask for any better from any other restaurant... Besides that the others should be on top of their game and they are definately now where near to even be close to this place. The plate we had and the drink for 2 was off the chain the waffles and chicken was jamming I want to go back everyday but its one of those restaurants that (speaking for me anyway) I have to save up 1 Time a month to go there. But its well worth it
Initially went to a vegan restaurant nearby. But decided to switch spots and come here. Great ambiance on a Friday night. Good service, good music... Felt right at home
Terrible service. Very unprofessional. After a horrible experience at this restaurant; a self proclaimed Jesus junkie associated with the restaurant and/or it’s owner decides to antagonize me online. What kind of people antagonize someone, because their restaurant/restaurant they are associated with and/or it’s owner overcharges the person and treats them horribly? Have you all not done enough? Your actions are demonic, not Christ like. I’m sure the Lord did not direct you to do such a thing. I’m pretty sure you were trying to be funny, but it just further proves that you all lack professionalism, emotional intelligence, and are inhumane. Get help, read a book, etc.
Good food, but terrible service! Good food does not substitute for good service! People can make good food at home. We dine out for an exceptional experience! I did not get that. I will not return!
Ambiance was nice and pleasant, live band is loud but definitely entertaining. The food was delicious!
Have been to the one in NYC and they are very similar. It’s located in a great spot and easy to get to!
Wait time is too long for food to get to table. Additional charges on bill. (Charging more for white meat without being informed before hand). No refills. And last but not least being charged a tip with my bill. I would like to tip my own amount according to the services provided!!
We loved the atmosphere of this place. I am in love with Jamaica and it’s culture. I’ve visited Negril Jamaica before and this food taste exactly as it would if you were Jamaica. Our waitress was awesome. Very attentive. The location is amazing, and the experience is awesome. I recommend anyone to go who is looking for that Jamaican feel to go. I would move to ATL just for this place.
I have been to this restaurant quite a few times and I have had good and not-so-good experiences. This last experience was the worst. The early days of this restaurant were the best, great food and service. They have lagged since in the service area especially, but the food was still good. After last night, I have to say, the food has gone the way of the service. The food was bland, the fish was dry, the jerk chicken was missing the 'jerk', the breadfruit was so hard, I had to put a bit of effort behind the knife to cut it. We were offered a complimentary drink for the birthday girl which never arrived. The restaurant was mostly empty and they still held fast to the rule of "the entire party must be present before anyone can be seated", forcing us to stand around. I mean, really, a little common sense goes a long way in the customer service arena. Truly disappointed to see how far this restaurant has fallen from it's initial glory days.
The vibe of this place was pretty nice and the food was amazing! The service was perfect and the food came out really quick. Special shout out to the salmon dish (can't remember the name) but it was one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. Will definitely go back when I get a chance
We threw a birthday party for my wife at the event space upstairs and the entire process was pleasant and well organized. The space was awesome, the food was delicious, the DJ was good and the event planner Kay and her team were amazing. Everyone was professional, extremely easy to work with and they did an excellent job of staying engaged during the planning process all the way through the party. I usually don't enjoy the process of throwing parties, but Kay and her team did a wonderful job making it enjoyable for everyone. My wife and our guests had a wonderful time. Thank you, A+ all the way!
Every time we're in town from Miami, we have to have brunch at Negril Village! The food is always authentic and amazing! Our server Michael provided us with world-class customer service. We'll definitely be back!
Great little hip spot in the midtown/ downtown area! The decor & lighting set a nice ambiance. The DJ sets a nice vibe to have dinner & drinks! Service we exceptional! Food was delicious and portion size was great as well! That parking situation could use a little help though! We paid $15 to valet & our friends paid $20 to self park, don't know what that was all about but get there early to find parking especially if you have a reservation!
Liked the atmosphere, lovely jazz band, singer has beautiful voice and engaged with the diners. Great staff. I witnessed a few diners coming in with attitudes, staff tried to graciously seat them. Hats off to the staff! Food was good. Ample servings! I live in Massachusetts, understand this restaurant is in NY, will definitely check it out. Thanks for a pleasant dining experience! 😃
Smooth hip hop atmosphere. Service very professional. Food was tasteful. Price was adequate. Relaxing vibes throughout. Will visit again for brunch.
Great time with friends even though I am not a fan of their payment policy for large parties. You are in business to make money so grouping everybody together on one check is difficult for your customers. You are supposed to make sure customers have a good time not stress them out. Other than that, Negril Village is a great place to enjoy brunch. Just be wary when you take large parties.
We love Negril! It is our go to spot! Tonight (12/7) we had Taylor..her hair was cute, her service was amazing and overall she was impeccable!! Also our Bartenders were EVERYTHING! I can’t remember their names but I referenced them as: cool vibes and the guy who brought my warm cornbread!
Went Friday evening (7:30 pm) and had a terrible experience! Waited over an hour for a table for 8 (reasonable) and immediately ordered a drink and 5 appetizers. 45 minutes later, we just received only 3 of the 5 appetizers. After continuously asking about the appetizers, the manager told us one had been sold out, over an hour after the original order was placed. In addition, sitting upstairs with the band eliminated some menu options, which we weren’t told by the staff prior to being seated. It was obvious the server was very busy as the bartender, another server, and the manager all came to the table. Her attitude wasn’t the best and she began pouring everyone a drink (we ordered pitchers of the punch) without asking who was drinking. The manager agreed to give us an employee discount but the tip was still at 20% of the menu price. 3 hours after arriving, I finally got the bill and I paid, since a party that large can only have 1 check. The food was great, but the service completely outweighed the great food.
Great restaurant. It is really beautiful inside and outside this building. The food presentations and food is really awesome. The spring rolls, jerk chicken, etc. it is really good. Although pricey, it is worth it! I hope this restaurant will own the parking deck soon, where it can be more convenient for attendees.
Came here for the brunch buffet. The food is amazing... Five stars for the food.
The establishment gets crowded quickly and you have to navigate through a sea of people to get to the brunch upstairs, but make sure you have your reservation!
Everything I ate was delicious. I especially enjoyed the jerk chicken and shrimp and grits.
The table service left much to be desired. I had to keep flagging down the server because he wasn't coming to the table to see if we needed anything.
The line for the buffet stays pretty crowded. You really don't want to get in line a second time to get another plate.
Everyone was friendly and the food was good... Service was poor because the server wasn't checking on us to see if we needed more water, drinks, plates cleared, etc. Very crowded.
This may be a good touristy type of place because it's only a few minutes walk away from the Fox Theater and a few steps from the Marta rail. A few hotels in the area too.
As a local, I won't be coming back to this restaurant any time soon.
I truly enjoyed my Sunday brunch with live jazz. I had the French toast and cod fritters. The fritters were slightly chewy but the avocado with a hint of spice was yummy. I would have liked more foster sauce but it was still full of flavor. Mamosa were good. We arrived around 1pm right as the music started and before the large crowd. Overall great brunch.
Went to Saturday Brunch Party and chose the buffet option. Initial impression was very positive. The music selection was good, the front door host was nice, and the layout was nice.
Upon getting upstairs, the impression switched. We had to wait for 15 min for tables to get cleaned so my party and I could be seated. The male host and/or manager (he was wearing a different shirt than the other staff) upstairs, snapped at one of the women in my party. She inquired about the buffet and how it worked and his response was "I was going to tell you about the buffet if yall would sit down". He was very annoyed and rude. There was not as much space as downstairs and even with most of the tables empty, it still felt cramp and crowded.
The food was really good, but some items did not get restocked as fast as others. The servers could have been more organized, or maybe they just needed the help with all the customers. But our server was nice and obliged our ticket splitting fiasco. I would possibly return in the future.
So let me start off by saying that I really looked forward to supporting this business, as it was noted as one of the best Caribbean restaurants in Atlanta. We celebrated my friends birthday, where we made a reservation for 7:45 PM on a Saturday. We literally had to wait 4 hours and did not get seated until 11PM. We watched other parties who came after us get seated before us. The restaurant has no system in place for seating guest in an orderly manner, leaving hostess to randomly look for small parties and remember faces. After bringing it to their attention multiple times about our reservation they put us in a small corner. Prior to seating us, the hostess did feel bad for our wait and had the decency offer our party drinks, however the manager that night gave the hostess a hard time to even give us that for free. The food was great...... Since we were celebrating a birthday, we brought a cake. Be warned if you ever plan on bringing a cake they charge $25 cutting fee (and no they don’t bake the cake or cut it for you). They also do not split the checks at all. The manager that night was completely rude and we just couldn’t understand why no one said anything when we first walked in, knowing they saw us with the cake and asked who was celebrating. As a first time customer, they could use some improvement on customer service and crowd control, to insure those first time customers want to come back.
It's hard to find quality Caribbean food in Atlanta, but Negril has some of the best meals I've tasted. I had the Jerk Chicken & Waffles and the Shrimp & Grits, and they were both "leave no crumb left behind" worthy.
Beyond the food and drinks, the vibe here is incredible. Every week, the brunch has great music and people dancing. It's a great atmosphere to be social and have fun with friends.
The food at this place is phenomenal. I ordered the oxtails and let me tell you they are as tender and succulent as you would expect. I will say if you plan on going carve out a little extra time as entrees do take awhile to come out. But they are totally worth the wait. Also grab the collard green spring roll appetizer to snack on while you wait. All in all it was a great experience and I'm definitely ready to eat there again.
Aside from the wait and the parking, this is a great place to experience. I've only ever eaten upstairs and have enjoyed the good each time. They have live music and offer a brunch buffet. The food on the buffet is just as good as anything you'll order and is well worth the price. If you find this review helpful, please press like below.
The prices are affordable and the staff is very helpful. I usually visit them in my break during my working shifts, the staff makes sure that i have my food with me in nearly no time. Even after such a quick service, they never fail to serve the freshest and delicious food.
Great Caribbean food, elevated. I am still surprised with myself that I passed up a jerk chicken and waffles order, but the curried goat I got instead was amazing. The mutton was super soft and slid right of the bones. And I still got to try the chicken and waffles from my friends plate--yummy. A tad on the expensive side for this type of fare, but the quality was awesome and the venue--an old Firehouse--was super cool.
Came here for Easter brunch. What a wonderful restaurant. The food is delicious, the music was great the staff is awesome. Will definitely be back again.
Always a fun time. Great food and entertainment. I always bring my visitors from out of town here. Plus this is the only place that met my mother's approval on first try and this is the first restuarant I took my dad for his first visit to the states. We just so happen to be from an area close to Negril in Jamaica.
I'd heard so much about Negril Village and how their food was so good and they did not disappoint me. I ate here with two of my friends and had a blast....read this and 696 more
