How would you rate Asbury Methodist Church?
Even after moving to DC, I occasionally check my paypal app to see if there are any offers in the area. And it just happened, Brasserie Beck was offering $10 credit one week. I decided to save the credit and tried a few side dishes- Brussels sprouts, mac & cheese, and beets.
Brussels sprouts cooked with poached pear and bacon bits - savory and sweet all in one dish - loved it so much, I went back the following day just to get this dish!
Mac & cheese au gratin - Cheesy goodness, great size to be shared over happy hours especially!
Beets - this dish however was underwhelming - strange, sour taste and tiny portion. I love beets but this dish convinced me otherwise.
Although I only had a chance to interact with the staffs at the bar, I was impressed by their attentive, friendly service and professionalism. After learning that a staff had forgotten to charge me for a dish, I immediately returned the next day to pay. The staff instead was apologetic and told me not to worry about it.
Overall, can't wait to return for their mouthwatering Brussels sprouts and to try their signature mussels!
I go here often and enjoy the variety of items on the menu. The mussels are amazing. Other dishes are hit or miss. The bratwurst, house made, fell short of my native german expectations. When items, such as heirloom tomatoes, are in season, the execution is excellent. I agree with a previous reviewer in that there are disturbingly long gaps in visits to the table. Whenever my head is on a swivel searching out our server, it detracts from the overall experience, which would, in all other cases, rate more stars. (This review is for the Kentlands location.)
This is where all the chefs hang out which is why I love it so! Low key great food and love Robert weidmaier! :) he is amazing. Love the skate wing on the menu! Perfect for a casual night out. #dishcrawlapproved
I went here with a few friends and when we sat down, we were seated right next to a another couple, which was weird since most of the restaurant was still empty. About and hour it filled up, but I was a little annoyed that of all the seats, we sat right next to another group.
First thing is first, they have their own version of a moscow mule which was great.
We had the Spicy Red Thai Curry, Peanuts, Basil & Cilantro Mussels and frites and Braised Beef Brisket “Goulash”.
The mussels had a good flavor. I just wanted to dip my bread into it and soak up all the goodness. But i wish the sauce reflected on the mussels more. It had a hint of spice, but my friend said he felt a bigger kick. The frites with the 3 sauces. The mustard was okay, but the other two were pretty good.
The braised Beef Brisket was just okay. It was nothing great. The beef was tender and the flavor was there, but not amazing for this caliber of a restaurant.
The service was just okay. I was disappointment that we waited almost two minutes before we ordered. We saw our waiter about every 30 minutes. When we ordered drinks, we would see it about $20 minutes later. When we said we didn't want dessert, he made an annoyed face.
Overall I spent about $40 with decreased tip obviously. I don't usually do that, but it was a high end resturant which i thought should have a had better service. Even more, when I left, the hostesses keep talking to each other and basically ignored us.
I took my family to Brasserie Beck when I graduate from Grad School and while it was tasty, I had hoped for more from this classy Belgian restaurant, especially for the price.
Their specialty is their mussels and they are good, but again I was hoping for more. My parents were happy and I suppose that counts for a lot. Otherwise, the atmosphere is great, the wine list as well, and their list of Belgian beer is exceptional.
Was a real pleasure to find this restaurant
Great french food, the meat is awesome
The staff (especially the French waitress) is wonderfull
Ask for the porkchop with couscogs znd eggplant
This was my fourth time buying property, but the first time I felt like my realtor was was working for me and not just the commission. He knows all the questions you will wish you would have asked, before it's too late. Choosing a place to buy is hard. Choosing Harry isn't.
Harry was a consummate professional through the entire process of getting my house sold. He showed up on Day 1 with a packet of extensive research -- about both the neighborhood and the current market -- which he broke down in such a way that my wife and I could easily understand and act upon. He did a great job of keeping us in the loop through the entire process, and helping us make key decisions (dates, price, house prep, etc). Most importantly, the house he helped us sell went on the market on a Thursday, had an open house the following Sunday, and then was under contract on the Tuesday after that! Five stars.
We were very happy with Harry & his team. We sold a house out of state due to a death in the family. He was very helpful when something needed to be done. He knew the market and the price points to complete the sale of the house. I would highly recommend his services!
Harry is a great agent! I was a first time home buyer and didn't know much about the process of making an offer and buying a home. From watching the HGTV it seemed like you just make an offer in terms of how much you're willing to pay. It was hard for me to understand the need for signing all of the contracts just to make an offer. Harry explained the process and helped me understand why it was necessary. Then I decided that the first place I made an offer on was not best for me. He did not get upset even though his colleague was representing the seller. Instead he helped me fine the place that was a great fit for me. He also guided me through the negotiations and we arrived at a great price. Harry is great and seems to have infinite patience!
Five years ago I talked with my husband about the possibility of moving away from DC because I was intimidated by the real estate. I didn’t think it was for me. Property here is expensive, confusing, and competitive. And then we found Harry. He taught us so much, and gave us the confidence to not only purchase our first property, a condo, but later our forever-home in our dream neighborhood. He truly turned one of my biggest anxieties into one of our proudest accomplishments.
Harry is a seasoned real estate professional who grew up in DC and has worked as a realtor this area since 1994. We worked with Harry for three transactions - purchasing our first condo in McLean Gardens, DC in 2015, then selling that condo and purchasing a standalone home in Kent, DC in 2018.
I can’t tell you how many times people have told me my husband and I have “gotten lucky” with real estate. I tell them we didn’t get lucky - we hired the right realtor.
Harry was an excellent agent for me and my wife as we purchased our first home. He made sure we understood all the ins and outs of home buying and how to approach open houses. We now know more than we ever thought about identifying good cabinetry, AC systems, foundations, flooring etc. It's a testament to how much he cares about his clients and ensures they land in the right place for them. He is a DMV native and knows the area so well, which made navigating the various neighborhoods easier based on our wish list. We also appreciated working with his team when going through final stages of making an offer and reviewing contracts. They made sure we didn't miss anything and that all our ducks were in a row. I would definitely recommend Harry to any first-time (or other) home buyer.
I've attended this church for five years. It's a smaller congregation, mostly made up of young families. I've been able to make good friends here and get...read this and 0 more
