How would you rate Roscoe's House of Chicken 'n Waffles?
I lovee roscoes! this place is delicious too bad im trying to keep in shape..
My go to spot for chicken and waffles. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this Roscoes! Chicken is delicious and never dry. Service is always good. Wait times can sometimes reach 2 hours on busy weekend nights which can also make parking difficult. Otherwise parking is usually good, you can park in the lots across the street. The don't allow splitting checks but they've done it if I do the math beforehand and ask nicely. Overall a positive experience here.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF THAT NEED TRAINING. GO TO THE ONE ON MANCHESTER IN LOS ANGELES.
Delicious chicken breasts, and delicious waffles. The restaurant is crowded and noisy, and the staff seem like they don't want to be there. But the food is amazing. The chicken is succulent and taste really fresh. The combination of chicken and waffles is perfect. Price is slightly high, but it's well worth it. I would definitely want to come here again.
I never thought I would ever eat chicken and waffles together in the same meal, but it was great!! Try it, you will probably like it too!
This is probably my favorite Roscoe's location that I've been to. Usually you can go on a weekend (day) and only have to wait a short 10mins or so for a big party. They have a fairly large waiting area with a few seats, but also is akin to a full bar in the same building so you can get your drink on while you wait for your gluten!
I ALWAYS order the #1 Scoe Special that has 2 waffles and 2 pieces of chicken. I put hot sauce on the chicken and syrup/butter on my waffles...because doing it any other way would be stupid. I also order a side of grits (add sugar and butter) and smothered potatoes. OMG! This is my last dinner request for sure. I'm not going on death row anytime soon, but I feel good in knowing that if I do, I'll know what I wanna eat. You also got to get the Sunrise (orange juice and lemonade)!
The servers/waitresses are always nice + they have plenty of parking across the street in a lot and also street parking.
Mmhmm!! Delicious meal with (almost) no guilt! While I did come pretty late night for their hours, I still got a tasty plate and very courteous service. My server was very welcoming, but admittedly a little slow to check up on me. I'm a very low maintenance customer, especially when I'm hungry hippo like I was this morning. He gave me his honest opinion on the dishes I asked about and I appreciated it since it was my first time. My chicken was beyond delicious- especially with the syrup and waffle combo going. I felt so happy to have come and gotten such quality food late at night. There seems to be a magic hour when the last of the acceptable food restaurants close, and I'm glad Roscoe's is available until 11pm. I'll definitely be back!
This location is close to Disneyland. I love Scoe's waffles but the fried chicken and fries were SUPER soggy and oily. My fries were also overly cooked. I was pretty disappointed with the oiled down food. The food was also slow as well. Decent service, same great yummy waffles but the other items were sub-par.
We were in town for my husband's graduation and had eaten at the original Roscoe's location in Hollywood,CA before. After finding out there eas a location closer to Irvine we were elated! We drove over to this location and the wait was not long at all, off to a good start especially since we came on a Sunday. After being seated we sat for about five minutes before we were greeted. After the server, who never gave us his name came over, he asked if we were ready to order. We ordered then waited for our drink order for 15 minutes and our food for about another 20 minutes. After receiving my food, i was immediately disgusted eggs, grits and fried chicken spilled on a too small plate. My husband's waffle small and overcooked and wings looked like that of a cornish hen. My sister's breast meat that she ordered was dry and greens unseasoned and resembled grated spinach rather than actual collard. The look of everything resembled exactly how it tasted. After I sent my meal back to be put in a bigger plate and separted so I wasn't eating soggy chicken, somehow when the plate came back my portion size was smaller. I was fed up at this point so I said nothing. After we ate what we could, we sat for 15 minutes for our waiter to come back. When he returned he had the check in hand. No refills, no how is/was our meal, nothing. We got to the counter to pay and they didn't have change for a $50? We left a large tip which our waiter did NOT deserve and left. Never again will we step foot in this location. We will drive the extra distance for a more pleasant experience.
Garbage food delivered with a garbage attitude. If your with your family go somewhere else. Everybody in my section arrived after us and we're served their food first. Not a care that 4 small children were hungry and waiting. When I questioned the waiter he said "I don't make the food"
The food was good. But the service was HORRIBLE right from the get go. We were seated in what seemed like a cave, the lights were not on and our waiter seemed angry and did not make an effort to disguise that he wasn't. When he did follow up it was from like 10 feet away and never smiled and was not friendly at all. the hostess receiving the money for the bill never looked at you in the face or asked how your meal was. they were busy gossiping at the front. The employees were not professional whatsoever.
I won't recommend this place to anyone.
This place was truly something amazing! Amazing food with even better service! If you're in the area I highly suggest coming! By far the best fried chicken around and probably the best in the country!
This place is awesome. Great service. Ask for Curtis. Our food came fast and hot. The chicken was tender and juicy. The waffles were heavenly. You have to stop in for the food. You won't be disappointed. Came up from Diego for the weekend. Great meal with a great atmosphere. Get there early. The place gets crowded quick. I well definitely be coming back.
Was able to check this out early sunday morning, parking was not a problem . Was taking pictures outside and a hostess came out ,and quickly asked how many people were in our party. I felt I was being rushed since I was not even inside the restaurant .
But I was not going to let that get to me , the restaurant itself looked nice and clean . The waiter that we had was great and and kept coming back to check if we needed anything . The food itself was good and probably would come back since its at a great location.
I did however notice other servers/waiters that seemed like they did not want to be there . I sure hope management looks into this and remind their staff, that the mood that each staff member brings to a restaurant environment can make or break the deal.
I noticed one staff member who was serving another table next to us was really not thrilled of working that time. Her customer service was pretty bad from the beginning, so someone else came up to help them. And this new person was so great that they tipped her instead of the original waiter. While that was happening the original server saw, the whole tipping thing going on. And I guess they went to the back to settle things.
To sum things up I sure hope this restaurant stays around, they just need to work on putting people who want to work . I get it not everyone is a morning person, so if your not a morning person maybe a different shift would be better . I am just hoping the next time I'm there I do not experience, what those people on another table experienced .
Roscoe's is NOT a 21st century diner.
The service was excellent. Walked right in and was seated. My server, Rocky, was very friendly and offered recommendations since I had never been before.
What you won't find are menu items for fad diets. There's no gluten-free, low-carb, or vegan section of the menu. The menu tells you very succinctly,l "No substitutions." What you see is what you get. The food came out hot and was exactly what I expected. For those of you who prefer salads and low-carb options, your insides will probably need a shower after eating most of the items on the menu. They're heavy, fried, and delicious. They're not trying to be anything else.
I love it. I'd recommend eating here at least once.
My company had placed a big order today and half of the orders we've made came with half the items of what was suppose to be included for each meal/plate. For example, on their website it stated that a #3 includes:1/2 Chix prepared southern style, 2 waffles, their own private mix; 1/2 a chicken consists of 1 leg, 1 wing and 1 thigh. I only received 2 pieces of chicken and so did the rest of my colleagues who ordered the #3 as well. If you are going to place an order over the phone and pick up your order, I would suggest for you to check your order if you have received all the items in your order/meal/plate or before ordering clarify what each meal/plate consists of. Their website displays something different from what you actually order with them. I also tried to contact the business to complain and wasn't surprised that they did not answer. I called another location and they confirmed that the number 3 Herb's special comes with 4 pieces of chicken and confirmed for all locations. They need to learn how better manage the business and procedures at this location. Not surprised that no one manages this business listing on Google.
Overrated! My wife's fried chicken is way better. It wasn't bad but it wasn't worth the inflated price. However, they offer a discout for active duty military. That helped some. The manager, Tony, is an outstanding professional. Every complaint and criticism he handled with a smile and a solution.
I hate to rate so low but I've been here on multiple occasions and my very first time here was not very pleasant the only problem I did have though was that they're very racist and tend to (don't wanna insult anyones race, roots, etc) black people first even though they got there an hour after I did they got their food and order taken within 15mins. Not only that just last night I was there and after we were seated I noticed a family next to us who looked like they're from out of town (they were caucasian) and they told me they had been waiting an hour and they saw 8 parties arrive eat and leave all in the time they were waiting for their order. I had to wait about 30mins before I asked the manager if someone was gonna take our order because I saw 3 parties arrive and get their order taken within 5 mins.
I didn't want to write a bad review so I'll leave off with this the food, is worth the wait so long as every one had to wait as long as I did or the family next to me last night. But their chicken!!! Always juicy never dry ! And their waffles!! Don't get me started on those!
We went after leaving Disneyland and it was hella hella bomb. Our server I forget the young homies name.... (He's from Dallas) excellent service. I highly recommend this location.
Definitely get pit it on your to-do list. Food was great. Gentlemen in the parking lot recommended #13. Very juicy chicken breast. Nice staff all around.
I've never been here before and I wanted to slap myself for waiting so long to eat here! Delicious food, amazing staff, our waiter's name was Marquise and he was so sweet to the babies and very patient with us, giving us advice on what to order. I will most definitely return!!
The place is clean and overall the staff is very friendly. My waiter it was a very very nice gentleman gave me great recommendations to have a number 13 just two pieces of chicken and waffles. He also recommended cornbread and candied yams. The only thing I did not like was the corn bread which was very dry for my taste.
Below there are some comments about people here being racist which I don't understand because I sit here and look around there are employees here of all different nationalities. So I don't say that person didn't feel something different but I personally did not have that issue.
Omg only thing what was good was the Lemonade. My mom and dad from New Orleans and this food was bad. Only the Roscoes in Anaheim was horrible the host was awesome but no substitutions and the candy yams taste like bark w/a dash of cinnamon. The only ppl who like this place is the ones who don't know any better and from out of town.
My chicken was half cooked. A lady took my order and made for dine in I wanted it to go and also mybfood was setting up there for an hour until in guy came from his break and asked me if I needed help.. That food was nasty now I've been to the one in long beach yhrh was good but this one ugh
Delicious chicken and waffles, I could eat food here every day. The food is only part I really enjoyed about the place. The tables and chairs are cheap and kind of broken, and service was ok (it took a long time before the waitress came to our table). Overall the food trumps the things I didn't like and I would go back again. It's worth a try
We went when the a/c was out or they just chose not to use it. This location wasn't as impressive as everyone talks about. For all the servers walking around I thought we would get better service but they most likely where hot.
The waffles were excellent.... The chicken was even better! Proper southern style fried chicken. The staff was very friendly and service was prompt.
Pricey but good food & great service.
I'm going to write this review strictly for the service because I do think that Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles' food is delicious.
HOWEVER, when the wife decides to get up from her chair to chase down a waiter in order to get water, then there is a major communication problem or they just don't care. This after multiple waiters have walked by the table without saying a word.
Maybe they were having an off night, who knows. The service was pretty horrid. When you get your food, god forbid you ask for any other condiments without them giving you a look of "are you serious right now?".
Like I said this review is for the service. Food was great, but not great enough for me to waste another 20 min of my life just waiting for acknowledgement.
Probably won't return to this one.
I had an issue with my order that had to be sent back three times. Once the manager was notified, he insured my food came out correctly. The staff is super welcoming, I always feel at home. Grits, two thighs and corn bread is my meal of choice here!
This is a place that sells the best chicken and waffles. You cannot be in this area and not eat from here. Roscoe's is historic and the Anaheim location has a very cool set up and awsome servers. Go here, you won't regret it.
It was everything I expected. We went they for our 24th ANNIVERSARY and it was great. Warren was very hospitable. Our server Jacqueline was the best server. Since moving to California this has taken me back home, in just one meal
Thanks ya'll Dave with the suspenders
Great chicken! Crispy, so tasty! Very very crowded!! Always a line but moves pretty quickly!
Very good service, clean facilities and friendly staff. Not to mention the great Roscoe's food that is always prepared with pride and love. I Highly recommend this location.
While Roscoe's certainly has charm and a lot of history, it is hard to see past some issues to appreciate it. During my visit the floors and tables were sticky and there was a dirty bucket collecting water from the leaking ceiling just a few feet from my table. The chicken and waffles were cooked well, but were lacking in seasoning and flavor.
Good service, and great food. No Complaints here
Love the chicken and waffles! Great "cheat meal" when your really hungry! This specific Roscoes give 50% discount to military. I love places that support the military!
Best waffles you will ever have! I don't know what is in the batter but they are so delicious! I really hope they open up in San Diego soon. The staff is always so friendly and quick. We have driven a hour and forty five minutes a few times just to have breakfast here. Well worth the drive! It is normally busy and does have a wait but the chicken and waffles make it worth it.
The fried chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The thighs were huge! Greens were tender and had just a touch of smokiness. The greens were leafy with out hardly any stems, thanks Roscoe for taking the time to remove the stems. Mac an cheese didn't blow me away but still good. The big piece of cornbread was real tasty. Service was friendly. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience.
Great chicken, awesome waffles, best chicken livers.
The corn bread was not good very dry. Mac and cheese could have been better.
While a long wait time can be expected at a place as prolific as Roscoe's, the portion-to-price ratio and overall quality of the food is really hard to justify considering the hype. The food itself is passable, not much to write home about, but it definitely does not deserve the high price tag, and the portions are pathetic. Important to remember for groups: they don't split checks. Everything is lumped together onto one meal ticket, and the staff is less than helpful when it comes to divvying up. I had to split my party's bill up with a calculator myself, the cashier asking us to step aside to help the next group in line. All in all, the experience was underwhelming at best with lackluster food, unattentive and unhelpful staff, and a far from convenient system for payment.
My experience was ok. Our waiter ( Rosie) was really really nice but she forgot our food but she was nice enough to comp our bill. However the front cashier Jaclyn was really rude, needs to.Work on her customer service skills she had a really nasty attitude and for that reason I won't be back. Being a cashier its part of your job to set the atmosphere for your guest. The waiters were under staffed So I understood why it took a while which wasn't their fault but the cashiers attitude "ugh" NEEDS WORK ASAP
Active duty gets 50% off! Dine in only
Nothing special. The service was a little slow, and the restroom has graffiti everywhere and there was no toilet paper.
It was hot and humid inside to the point of being uncomfortable.
The food was just average, nothing special but not terrible.
Get waffles, get chicken. They are the best items in the menu, everything else is mediocre in comparison.
They say you have to try Roscoe's once, now we have, we probably won't come back.
Superfast considering it borders Disneyland.
This is one of the most efficient breakfast restaurants in Anaheim.
Staff is super friendly and the food is extremely consistent with their other locations.
#9, Thanks Obama!
Staff and food were amazing. We had Marquise as a waiter and he couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. It was my first time there and we will definitely be back. Thanks you!
Waiter was awesome, the gravy was amazing. The menu is terrible they need to up date it. The waffles were different but I've had way better. The chicken was pretty average. A solid 3.5/5
Best chicken and Waffles I have ever had. The staff is very nice and they seat you right away. It's always busy and they have a very family friendly environment.
I came here on a whim with my friend. We drove by and had to try the famous name for ourselves. When we walked up to place our names we were told there was a 45minute wait. Not bad so we sat down and waited. Then we started to notice we were getting skipped, when I went up to the man at the desk he told me I was next without looking at the book.
I said to myself maybe he realized he'd skipped us so I said out loud "Okay thank you." And returned to my seat.
Then we were skipped two more times! So I got up again to ask what happened and he asked me for my name and then realized that he had most definitely skipped us and escorted us inside where he pointed to a waitress simultaneously calling her name and asked her to find us a seat.
Looking inside there was plenty of seating available for all the customers waiting outside in the sun.
She pointed to a random table and said from across the room. Your server will be with you in 5 minutes. Well 15minutes later we had yet to be even given menus. I got up once again to hunt down some menus and find myself a server to place our orders. Once I found an employee I asked and she promptly catered to my needs and found me a waitress. She took our drink orders (2 waters and a coffee nothing fancy, nothing that takes time to make) and she took our food orders. Then we waited yet again. We did not receive our drinks until we received our food.
When our food was brought out me and my friend were both just disgruntled with the entire experience surely nothing could be done at this point to satisfy me. Then I took a bite of my food. And...I forgot about the entire experience I had just received. The food was amazing. The chicken succulent and full of flavor in ever facet it had to offer and the waffle melted in my mouth just as easy as the butter placed on top of it did. Once we were done with our meal they then asked us if either one of us were military and we both are. Then they informed us we get a 50% discount on our entrees.
In the end looking back I know not everyone had the same experience as me that day. Some people got served their meals and enjoyed their experience through its entirety but I was not one of these customers today. Someone else may have the same beginning story I had here but if it were not for that discount I may have felt cheated out of a quality dining experience more so than I already did. Food was amazing but the service is going to keep me from coming back again.
If you like waffles and fried chicken.. this is your place. The service was quick. The food is over-priced. A side of mac and cheese for is $5.40. Our bill was over $50 for three for breakfast. The waffle was a treat..whipped butter and syrup.
Best Chicken and Waffles anywhere. Food Network rated them #2 Best places in America to get your grub on. #1 was The place where the hamburger was invented so...... You really can't complain about being number 2.
Service was great! Food is overrated! Our chicken was way overcooked and super dry. Almost looked like chicken jerky. Waffle was soggy at best. Too hyped. Didn't live up to expectations. Potato salad and cornbread did not disappoint. Best thing on the plate tbh.
After Disneyland I decided to come here for a late night comfort food dinner and must say that I am highly satisfied. The service was quick, I was able to arrive and pay my bill in around an hour. The food was delicious. The waffle has a hint of cinnamon and tastes amazing. The chicken has a tasty seasoning in it which allows you to enjoy the flavor on it's own without condiments. My server was awesome as well! Terrific experience, wish there was one in Texas!
The food was amazing , I enjoyed every last bite. The waffle was so freaking good wasn't to thick or thin, the chicken I can't even imagine eating chicken from another spot any more without thinking about Roscoe's and comparing it. Every time I go to Cali I am eating there getting the Obama meal (Waffle n three wings $10.60) well worth every dollar.
We came on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately. We're a family of six so that was surprising. The service was good but the food was not. My family and I left more food on the plates than we ate. Very disappointing but typical for chains.
We chose to eat here because we had previously enjoyed the one in L.A. My entire family was disappointed. We were seated reasonably fast and our order taken quite quickly. Our food was also delivered rather quick. Our server was also very polite. That is why I gave 2 stars. The food quality was very poor. Our waffles were too cold to even melt the butter. Our chicken was very overcooked, it was dry and the batter tasted slightly burnt. After our meal the waiter said he was going to get our bill and we were stuck waiting on him for at least 15 minutes. I would also like to add that the restroom was deplorable. It was clear that a toilet had overflowed and that someone had mopped the areas people walk but didnt even try to mop up against the walls so there were pockets of water all over. Worse the toilet was still full and no one bothered to put an out of order sign up.
Love eating here every time. Never a bad meal or bad experience. Waitress and staff friendly and wonderful. Great tasting food like my,chef mom made for us. Rib sticking . Down home cooking.
This was first time visiting a Roscoe's but it won't be my last. The food was delicious. I love grits and to finally have them after not having them for a long time was great. The chicken here is so good. Juicy with plenty of meat. Plus, the fried chicken is not greasy like you would find at other places. The portions are large. Staff is very friendly. Can't wait to go back.
Love this place, although I have noticed the prices went up a bit, but still worth the wait. Last time we waited to be seated for 20 minutes, then another wait to order, and another wait for utensils.... I was about to eat with my hands! At least the people were nice to make it all worth it. Always expect a little of a wait when coming here, but you'll be happy you did.
Good food. Great service. No veteran discount unless active duty. We veterans who are no longer active duty, mean nothing now. Will not patronize your establishment again. Will pass on to other veterans organizations about my experience. Bye bye Roscoes.
I was thrilled when Roscoe's came to Anaheim. Previously when I had my "Easy Ed's Omelet" craving I had to drive to Long Beach or Hollywood.
The Anaheim branch delivers the same high quality experience that I've experienced in the other locations.
It is great soul food and American diner food. Do not miss having a waffle. I just love having a waffle at dinner and not feeling guilty in the slightest.
I had my second visit to Roscoe's Anaheim location and both times were amazing! The food was delicious. The service was on point and the speed of preparation was impressive. I always get the Obama special. My wife got the greens, Mac n cheese and cornbread! All was delicious!
I have eaten at this location for breakfast 5 times over the last year. The service is always great, and the food is always on point! We always get the chicken and waffles and the big mamas special. It is truly one of my favorite breakfast spots! Dont listen to all the bad reviews, give it a try! You wont be disappointed!
Ordered their chicken and waffle and was a little sad about how small the chicken thigh was for the price of the meal. Both the chicken and waffle tasted pretty good. Friendly service from 2/3 people who were there.
I've been to the Hollywood and Long Beach locations as well and this one is almost as good as the others. It's a busy. Location...plan on waiting a while for parking and being seated at prime dining times. The food is amazing however they over cook the chicken sometimes when it's busy...but it's still delicious even then. The corn bread and Mac n cheese are great sides. I always get the Carl C Special that includes a chicken breast and a waffle...it's always enough to fill me up andi can eat!!!
When I got there, there was a 30 minute wait, which wasn't all bad. I was looking forward to trying Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles for a really long time because I missed the opportunity the last time I visited California, and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. It tasted alright, but maybe my expectations were too high. The party I was with ordered some gizzards, and 2 orders of the Chicken and Waffles, one with the syrup and the other with the syrup on the side. The gizzards were nice and hot, but the Chicken and Waffles were not; just kinda warm. The breading on the Chicken was light and the waffles were similar to an eggo. Once again, I gotta say, it was alright...
Came to eat at the famous Roscoe Chicken and Waffles. Was disappointed with the service. After waiting for thirty minutes we were seated and handed menus. We then waited an additional twenty minutes for our order to be taken. When we let the greeter know we were ready to order, they went to look for our server who had apparently disappeared. The greeter herself took our order and apologized for the inconvenience and said would have another server to help us. Food was delicious as always.
WOW! I can’t describe my disappointment completely in a paragraph. It was my first visit today to Roscoe’s and I’ve been in California since 1992. I was excited. We brought family in from out of state and was throughly embarrassed. The waffle was the only thing edible, the chicken was HORRIBLE !! Dry with no flavor! Before we ate the chicken I made the biggest mistake and ordered 100.00 worth of take out for later for others that could not attend. We ordered Red Beans and rice that was drier than the sand on a beach, the rice taste fake if that’s possible. I’ve never had a bad piece of cornbread until today. The people on this website are lying about the food at this location. Stop cooking food here and regroup, it will not be long before someone with clout will shut this place down. I know with certainly, My family can cook chicken and cornbread better than this.
If you've never been here give it a try. We went in with a party of 20 and they were so accommodating. Our food came out timely and our waitress was very helpful. The the waffles and chicken are both come to perfection.
Food was excellent! Service was great! The highlight of the evening was meeting Elmo, the owner. What a great man! He made us feel like we were some of his closest friends!
The server left after bringing us or food and never came back. Chicken was dry, but the waffles were good. After finishing our food, we waited over 20 minutes for the check and finally had to get up to find someone just so we could pay. We had been entirely forgotten. Not one glass was refilled.
This is the best Roscoe's out of the four I have been to. The restaurant is always clean. They get a lot of traffic everyday, but they move pretty quickly. So you don't have to wait long. The waffles, chicken, and grits are great.
This restaurant is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is amazing, the service is amazing, the food is amazing. I have no complaints. We visit one of the locations (usually Anaheim) every single time we are in California. The food here really cannot be beat.
Hit & miss depending who's serving. Sometimes we get exceptional service other not so much. I like my sunny side up, waffle and chicken crispy; chicken not sits on grit. Server/s sometimes give attitude when i request. And server would not take order even if we were ready, we were told 'i'm only here to take your drink order first'... It was 3pm there were only 4 tables in the whole restaurant. Would go more often if service is good all the time.
It will be my last time ordering the #22 it doesn't taste the same but the chicken did. Also prices have changed. All the other food was good... All staff is nice, personable and friendly. It won't be my last time here
Great chicken and waffles! The chicken was great - crispy and not greasy! Staff was very friendly and provided great service. I did not leave hungry, but did order some cornbread to take home for later. Try the Obama Special with a side of Mac n cheese!
We were seated relatively quickly and had great service, wish I could give 4-5 stars but it comes down to the food. We are used to going to the Long Beach location and in comparison after trying the Anaheim location a few times our food always comes out luke warm which drives me crazy. Long Beach always brings out your food hot. I'm not sure logistically what is going on at this location but they have to figure out how to get the food to patrons while hot. The chicken wasn't seasoned well and the waffle was crispy instead of soft like I'm used too. I really want this location to do well.
The food is iconic, as expected. But this location never seems to be operating to capacity. There is an upstairs dining area which rarely seems to be used during daytime hours. Meanwhile, guests sit in the outside waiting area below and are told to expect a 60-90 min wait!
I always try to make my way to Roscoe's when I head to LA. There are many different locations in southern California but this one was closest to where I was for the week. I ate here for breakfast before heading to Disneyland and there was NO wait. Usually there's about a 10 minute wait but we were quickly greeted and seated! Service was super fast that day! I get my usual- the Obama Special which I believe has 3 chicken pieces, 1 waffle and I ordered a side of greens. This is a perfect portion for me. I used to be overwhelmed by the variety of options but this is now my go to! I always finish my plate with no left overs and I feel satisfied each time ! Roscoe's you NEVER disappoint me! Thanks again for a delicious meal-see you in about a week when I am down in SOCO again!
The fried chicken has a great flavor. And the waffle has a nice set of spices with a hint of vanilla. Don't expect a Belgian waffle though. I liked that can accommodate large groups. The restaurant does a good job of turning tables quickly, and food is quick to be served.
The chicken is delicious. The other items OK. The food comes out very fast. Service is generally good. The prices are OK for chicken but high for sides. Moral of the story: go here for great chicken, don't worry about the rest.
This location is the only Rosco's I have bodies and it was really good. I got the chicken and waffles and would definitely recommend it. The syrup is spiced very well and the it came with a TON of butter, which I love. They ask you which cuts of chicken you want too, so you can get exactly what you like.
This place is near the Anaheim Convention Center so it can get really crowded. Maybe we happened to visit on an exceptionally busy night. The service wasn't great. It took a long time for our food to arrive and when it did it was cold. Room temperature at best. Still a good waffle and awesome chicken though. Just wish it had been warmer. I never have this problem at the one in Hollywood.
The wait was short on Wednesday night. The server seemed tired or something because Everytime we said oh we want this or that he said "Sorry, didn't get that." Almost every time we put in order of drinks or something. Other than that, expect good soul food !! The grits, chicken, waffles, smash potatoes were freaking amazing!!! They offer military discount without uniform! So we appreciate that very much. My God the chicken skin is so crisp and juicy it's unbelievable.
Better than Denny's but cost a lot more! Can't speak regarding the chicken, because I am a vegetarian. But the waffles are good, the eggs with cheese and onions are only so so/poor! They never arrive to my table hot, not even very warm. So after 3-4 visits, can't give em more than a 3.5 score!
This is a FANTASTIC establishment. The staff was VERY welcoming and I'd never known how "at home" a person could feel at a restaurant. The host was very down to earth and made sure my meal was perfect. I am not a local resident, but whenever I come back to Anaheim, I will make sure to stop at this location.
Always the same great food and strange customer service. You might wonder where your server is at first, don't worry they will get there. Once you put your order in the food shows up a lot faster than it took for the server to get to your table to take the order.
It like that at all the location I have been to over the past 20 years.
It was a cool experience for my first time. The food was great. For it being as busy as it was, our server was on top of everything and we didn't have to wait very long for our food. The only problem I saw and had was the customer service. I understand it was busy and hot, but my party of 6 wasn't that big compared to the size of other parties and it seemed like the some of staff was irritated and upset.
Fast service! Great food! We went during a weekday around 2p and it wasn't crowded at all. The only problem I had was that the chicken was a bit small. Maybe I walked in Hungry! Overall, I recommend this place. Also, Active Duty Military gets 50% off their meal. (Just the members meal, not towards the whole check).
This place is amazing. Never disappointed
Customer service was very delightful and informative.
T was just a pleasure to have as our server. She was sweet and full of smiles. She answered all of our questions with honesty and smile.
Thank you for starting our honeymoon off with some good ole southern food.
Roscoes lives up to the hype honey! If anybody tells you otherwise, they are lying! I’m from Maryland and was visiting my sister in San Diego. Drove from SD expecting to be some kind of wait, but there was none and were sat immediately. (Around 10:30pm.) Our server was nice and attentive and the food came out in a timely manner. The restaurant was pretty full. My sister’s chicken and waffles were to die for and I tried some of their sides as well. Pretty small portions but with the chicken the Mac n cheese, candied yams and greens were great compliments.
Had a great experience. GPS took me to their overflow lot. The gentleman there was very helpful in directions me to the restaurant. The staff was very helpful, courteous and professional. The food exceeded my expectations. Too bad I'm vacationing in San Diego.. otherwise I'd be back
Everything was great! Even though it was packed they managed to get the food out in great time and the service was spectacular. The staff is great and always have a smile o. There face. RECOMMEND HIGHLY.
I've been to all of the locations here in California and I must say that this is the best of them all. It's down the street from Disneyland and is very clean and spacious. The management and wait staff was awesome. The food was really good. I don't eat meat but my family truly adored it. I've been vegetarian for the past year and I was able to get a fulfilling meal and very flavorful. The food came out hot and fast! If you're looking for a great place to take the entire family, please visit this place. Family oriented and kid friendly! My grandson was very sleepy and needed a fresh cup of milk. The staff took his cup and washed it out and gave him a fresh cup of milk. That's customer service!
Good waffles. Southern style chicken tastes like Kentucky fried, so nothing special.
Staff doesn't seem to care much about customers. We waited an hour for our food and then our server disappeared. I don't know if the front was just overtaxing the staff, or this place is just slow. Whatever the case, won't be back. Not worth the money or the wait.
Stopped after a day at Disneyland, service was great. Our waiter was on top of e everything, super friendly and had a great sense of humor. Food was good. I usually hit up the one down town and I an say that the food was super fresh.
My biggest issues was the old dude at the door doing the waiting list. He seemed to have no actual system of letting people in. He would take names and party numbers and put you on the list but if people he knew came up after you, he would let them and kept people on the list waiting for almost 30 minutes. If seems that if you want to get into the restaurant in a timely fashion, you need to know people who work at the restaurant.
Let me start off by saying I have had chicken and waffles before but this place takes the cake! Mr. Warren and Elmo were the first two faces who met us at the door. Very friendly gentlemen! They got us seated right away and we had our food nice and hot! The food was good the service was good and Mr. Warren and Elmo were both awesome folks! When I come back to Anaheim I will definitely go back to talk to my new friends! Awesome job!
Five stars down too three. Waffles great as usual, but smaller these days...? Chicken's definitely smaller. Prices good. Omelette was really good.
It gets no better than Roscoe's! My family and I loved dining here and *Mr. Elmo* truly made our visit so special! So much that we picked up some chicken and waffles to-go for our plane ride home! 😝 Definitely worth visiting! The service was equally as great as the food! 🐔
I’ve been there twice. Love the restaurant... for several reasons. However, the biggest reason is *imperfection*.
The restaurant does not accept split checks and would definitely not be a perfect restaurant if the definition of being perfect was to give you *fewer excuses* to bother friends who you went to the restaurant with.
We’ve got used to the convenience offered by restaurant to split checks when have lunch or dinner with friends. The question is: “is it always good to have the convenience?”.
I remember some moments that I had to bother friends. Those moments were not comfortable initially, but when we opened heart, talked and solved issues, those moments turned out to be one of my memorable and great moments in my life. How about you?
In Roscoe’s, you HAVE TO interact with friends to discuss how to pay meal because the restaurant does not accept split checks!!!
With that said, this is definitely a great place to validate or enhance friendship bonds, while have delicious food!
(Friendly notes: meal portion size is decent. Don’t waste food, otherwise, prepare to get educated :))
The food was amazing! Well it's hard to put works to the taste but for sure worth going in and trying their menu. Normally I post pictures but the food looks so good that it didn't cross my mind to take some pictures. I will definitely be coming back when ever I'm in town and I'll be bring my friends and family here as well. Customer service was great and friendly without any complains. The atmosphere was great and didn't feel awkward at all. I recommend this place if you want some great food.
Hispanic girl with glasses and black hair at the register like 2 minutes ago was really rude. I’m easy to please. All I need is a simple greeting or a please or thank you. She didn’t even give a “hello” or any greeting at all. Not sure what that was all about. I was just trying to pay my bill.
Enjoyed a filling meal. Herb’s special white meat is the way to go. Shuffled through the crowd of about 40 waiting to dine in and placed an order quickly and picked it up to go in less than 10 minutes. A little pricey at $22+ a plate with tax for 2 large waffles and half a chicken. But The waffles have flavor and the chicken had us licking our fingers. Good meal.
What stands out most about Roscoe's is the very friendly service. You are greeted with a smile from the time you arrive to the time you leave. We were a party of 12 and the wait wasn't long. Our server was prompt, helpful and also friendly. He came to check on us regularly and refilled pur drinks without us having to ask. The food was tasty. The fried chicken was moist and tasty. The waffles were cooked to perfection and also delicious. We also had their mac and cheese which is different from any other I have had. This was a great place to visit. We will be back to try other items on their menu.
The chicken and waffles are always on point at Roscoe's! Tasty, perfectly fried chicken combined with crispy, flavorful waffles, all with hot sauce and syrup drizzled over the top! Makes my mouth water just typing this out!
But the service really leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. I get it, y'all are busy, but a lot of the interactions with the staff are curt at best, and they aren't terribly friendly.
But other than that, I love me some Roscoe's!
Great food and maybe the best waffles on the planet. However the food is certainly overpriced and the service is just alright.
Had a poor experience with the greeter/hostess who would not allow me to wait inside on a bench for the rest of my party to show up when it was 55 degrees outside. I would understand if they place was busy but it was dead and they could have made an exception to their bizzare rule.
Still I would not hesitate to come back to enjoy their delicious meals. Hats off to the cooks.
Roscoe’s have some great chicken and waffles and their service wasn’t that bad. The staffs were friendly and the food was good. Great spot to go and eat with your friends and family!
I can see why this place is iconic! I ordered the Obama. The fried chicken was delectable. The waffle was a little softer than I like. I also ordered the collard greens, and they were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Iced tea is OK. Parking is about one block away, but free.
The service we received here was top notch. Everyone from our host, to our server (pretty sure his name was Levi), to the gentlemen who brought our drinks to us, were all so upbeat even though we came 30 min before close so I am sure they were tired! The food was piping hot when it came out and the wait time was very short. My husband and I both ordered the #1 which is 1/4 chicken and the 2 waffles. Don’t be afraid to get 2 waffles- they are a bit on the thin side. The chicken- fried to perfection, the breading was so good and honestly I am not usually a big fan of fried chicken because I am picky about breading. The waffles were really great too, the only thing I might to differently next time is ask them to leave the waffle in for a little bit longer so it is a bit more on the firm/crispy side. No stars deducted for that because that is a matter of preference and an easy fix next time. As we were eating the waffles, we were trying to guess which spice(s) they use in their batter. I think I taste quite a bit of nutmeg- not sure if there is cinnamon in there.... whatever they are doing, these waffles are on POINT. We will be back soon to review different items!
I love the food. Excited they opened in Anaheim. Hats off to the chefs! Remember management treat your staff well. They work hard to keep the customers happy. Always run the restaurant professionally, and respect the employees, and reward them frequently.
I had a five star experience. Comfort food. Great cook on the chicken. Good waffles. Solid service by Levi.
For a decent sized meal it is about $14 a plate which is more than I was expecting to pay. But my tummy is full and I am happy.
Great job tonight Roscoe’s!
This place was great. Great fried Chicken and really tasty waffles... although I prefer a crisp waffle when I do chicken and waffles These were a bit floppy but they had a great flavor. I would suggest cooking the waffles to order to get that 5th Star. I really enjoyed all the art on the wall as well if you go in there you should check it out some pretty brilliant paintings.
I'm not sure why but beautiful wife and I got the distinct impression that our server did not care for us for some reason and considering our kind of attitude to the world in general that surprised us but she did her job just fine and I appreciated the quick service.
Food was very good. Waffle was one of the best I’ve ever had. The chicken was fairly dry in the middle because it was so big, which is the only reason for 4 stars, but it was still very delicious. Service was also good. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try.
I came here and my service during, before and after was excellent. My server was great! The food was excellent, especially the waffle! I needed a reprint of my receipt and Justine was awesome! My request threw off the check out process but she was kind, helpful, and patient despite being frustrated because my request sent the system into a tailspin. I will definitely be back! It's rare to find good food and service to match 😚
Great fried chicken place. Even better waffles. I'm a big fan of thin waffles and these are bomb. They even serve beer to go with it which is a great combination. Pretty long wait but it wasn't the place's fault, there was just a ton of people because it's so delicious. Great service too, our waiter was extremely attentive and accommodating.
Visiting from Oregon and we waited for 20 minutes to be seated. When we sat at our table it seemed sticky. Kinda of a Shari's breakfast vibe in the room, and I wasn't expecting much. Once we got the food it was so well worth it. The chicken is super tender and juicy, and the waffles are fluffy! So delicious!!
A classic meal and everything was delicious. The waffle has just enough thickness to take up all the syrup and not fall apart. This fried chicken is very crispy and tasty. I also had a nice brisket covered in gravy. All good. Service was on the slow side, but was more than helpful.
Best chicken and waffles I’ve had in my life. Husband and I shared a number 3 and it was perfect. We’re both full and ready for our day at the park! Please expand to Oregon!!! Customer service was excellent as well. All the staff greeted us and we were seated immediately. Our waitress checked up on us at least 4 times in the span of 20-30 minutes we were there. Our food was out so fast as well! Maybe waited 5-7 minutes at the most! Definitely recommend coming here for breakfast or dinner instead of in the park. Cheaper and tastier food :)
Overall the food was tasty, but the service was very poor. I waited about 25 minutes to be greeted by a server. The order came out perfectly, but after receipt of my order, my server went on break and no one came to check on the table during his break. Meanwhile, other tables in nearby sections were served quickly and servers constantly followed up with their customers. Although the food was good, the service (or lack of) made me extremely uncomfortable. I hope this is not a racial issue, as I have visited numerous roscoes and never had this problem.
This place is delicious! The staff was super friendly and the food is delicious! The fried chicken doesn't have a heavy breading on the outside so you actually get to taste the chicken itself! The waffles are a little different than what you expect (I think there's a touch of cinnamon in the batter maybe?) but they are wonderful! I can't recommend this place enough!
An iconic brand, so I had to try it when visiting the West coast! Got the Oscar...three wings, grits, biscuit, egg over medium, and a side of gravy. Egg was cooked PERFECTLY and chicken was fried nicely, but lacked seasoning. The real issue is with the biscuit and grits...biscuit was clearly of the "take 'n bake" frozen variety and the grits were cooked without any salt!!! For $15, somebody should be able to make a pan of biscuits from scratch (not difficult or expensive!) and they should know that YOU CAN'T COOK GRITS WITHOUT SALT!!! When it comes to grits, adding salt at the table can't save them! Same with the gravy...I could tell it was roux-based, likely using the same flour from breading the chicken, but it fell flat due to lack of salt. On a good note, the bathroom was immaculate and service was friendly!
Roscoe's was recommended by a colleague who had previously travelled to the area. it's not fancy. But it doesn't need to be. I ordered a #1: two pieces of chicken and two waffles. It was PLENTY of food.Chicken was very good and the waffles were PERFECTLY done. Service as very good as well. We were there a tad early for dinner, but not too early. I would imagine they would be a lot busier during peak tourist season. They have a parking lot several lots down the street from them, so I'm sure they get busy at times.
Excellent food. Chicken crispy and flavorful, red beans and rice were good. Cornbread was amazing! Need to offer sweet tea for being southern food restaurant. Need to take my husband here, he will enjoy it.
Not nearly as good as the Fullerton or Hollywood locations. Food tastes good but wasnt very hot. The other two locations just seem like the food was a more fresh.
As fast as our order came out compared to the other locations, I'm guessing some of the food is kept in warmers until an order is received. My last visit at the Fullerton location, my omelette and waffle (same as this photo) was served so hot I had to let it sit for a few minutes. The Anaheim location not so much.
We love coming here every time we’re in Anaheim! They weren’t terribly busy when we came in on Monday night. But the server wouldn’t sit our party until everyone arrived(understandable).
The fried chicken is by far one of the best I’ve ever had. Super flavorful, comes out nice and crispy hot. I’m getting hungry writing this review!! The waffle is decent sized and definitely sharable. Make sure you order the candied yams, SO GOOD.
Rice and beans were flavorless and comes in a heaping pile of waste.
The cornbread was dry, I’ve had and made better.
Our waitress that night was super helpful and patient with our party. She gave great suggestions on the drinks.
Overall, stop by if you’re in town for a convention, conference or going to Disney. You won’t be disappointed.
Wish I could say this was a hidden gem but I think I’m just late to the party. We were impressed before we were even in the door by the parking attendants who guided us to an open spot. Once inside we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. We were seated quickly and served even faster. The food was outstanding, a good mix of sweet and savory. Definitely try the greens and the Mac and cheese. I think this was one of my favorite meals ever.
Our experience at Roscoes was amazing. We walked in and was welcomed and seated. Immediately drink orders are taken and back at the table for you to drink while checking over the menu. We ordered the customary chicken and waffles and was not disappointed. So so hot and crispy, the meat was so flavourful, tender and juicy. The seasoning was spot on. I love the sweet and salty combo so the waffles went so well with the chicken. The waffles were nice and fresh with a crispy shell and warm fluffy interior. They even have a awesome range of merchandise like hats, shirts, key chains etc. I got a shirt to take home and I wear it often and it’s still holding up well. Overall a great experience. Always so consistently good. We usually find ourselves visiting numerous times each time we stay in LA. Thanks Roscoe’s!
After hearing so much about Roscoe's and seeing them on different food channels I was excited to see what all the hype was about. The Anaheim location was very busy. Best to make a reservation but not necessary. The parking lot has adequate parking with the usual handicap spots easily accessible once in the parking lot. The Staff are courteous and professional, they are accustomed to crowds so things move like clockwork. The chicken was succulent and crispy. Could've used more seasoning but that's just my preference. Mac and cheese as a side order was about a single serving. Much like the rest of the side orders we had as our take out meal. Greens, Red Beans etc. The corn bread is delicious. Overall not a bad experience would definitely eat here again and recommend checking it out.
I was in the city for the weekend and was told that I needed to come visit this place while I was here. I did and the food was amazing!
The specific waiter that we had, on the other hand wasn't the best. If I had to rate the food only, I'd probably give a 4 1/2 stars. I ordered the Chicken Salad, thinking that it was a garden salad with their chicken but it was more of a potato salad variation with chicken in it. That was my mistake for not asking what kind of salad it was, but it was still amazing nonetheless.
My friends that I came with ordered fried chicken and I got to taste some of it. It was amazing! I used to work at Popeyes for years and the chicken was on a whole different level!
If you are in the city and haven't been here, I recommend checking it out for yourself! It's definitely a place where you'll get great chicken if that's your sort of thing. If fried chicken isn't your thing, then you might favor better going elsewhere.
If you're looking for a true chicken and waffle experience, you've got to go to Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. They have several locations throughout Southern California, and we chose this one after a long day at Disney California Adventure. The servings are generous, and it is easy to over order because everything looks good. Roscoe's had the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. My wife said their greens were just as good as her grandmother's greens, and she has Louisiana roots. The staff was kind and attentive. I would highly recommend making this a stop if you're in proximity to a Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles.
Traveling to southern cal & had to go to Roscoe’s for some chicken & Waffles! The service from the staff was excellent. The prices were better than I expected and The food was good. I prefer my waffles to be thicker and harder, but that’s my personal preference. The chicken was cooked just right and tasted great! It’s definitely worth a visit.
I came here with my daughter and her friend and we all had chicken. (How could you not?!)
I had the chicken breast and waffle and can honestly say it was...read this and 2529 more
