Strategies for Successful Leadership - Dr Stevie DeJaun Springer
Dr. Stevie Springer is native of New York city by way of Texas and now resides in New Mexico were he is currently chef/owner of Chez Axel French restaurant here in Albuquerque. Most of his time is spent working on his business empire. Along with owning a fine dining establishment he is president/CEO of a nonprofit scholarship program for at-risk youth in the performing/visual arts called “Young People with Talent Inc.” Dr Springer earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Huston-Tillotson University and a Master in Music from the University of New Mexico and a Ph.D in Business. Dr. Springer has served as a high school educator in public education since 2000 teaching music, English and government.
This course defines leadership and its relationship associated with other business leadership demands in the workplace. It examines overarching theories of business practices as leaders and explores the fundamental concepts and principles a business owner should embrace for effective outcome. Key concepts include identifying personal leadership styles for facilitating organizational design; understanding human behavior for employee response to workplace environment to maintain internal stability; and how to evolve and adapt to the challenges of work stress. This is an introductory course in leadership management, designed for both first time business owners and current entrepreneurs and managers in sustainable positions. The consistent theme in this course is the development of a qualitative understanding of the leadership, management, and advertising concepts needed for a structural, practical, effective point of view. This course assumes that students are currently in leadership positions, have put together a business design for future facilitating or are currently pursuing an entrepreneurial occupation. Student Learning Outcomes
The business leadership course will focus on helping individuals understand their leadership style. Students will receive insight on business behaviors that identifies how one may process, gather, and deliver information. The course will address strategies to help combat work stress, which is one of the leading causes of a decrease in office moral and the innovative process. Another insightful area of concern is business performance appraisal, which makes available an opportunity for owners and leadership to:
- evaluate the needs and concerns of workers
- showcase great admiration for work accomplished within teams
- set new working goals moving forward
Students will be enticed by the marketing/advertising plan that they will design during class time and be able to put the plan to action immediately.
