How would you rate 40/40 Club?
the restaurant/club has a very nice atmosphere, and the food was decent, however the prices add up quite quickly ($130 for 2 people with chicken dinners and 2 drinks each) and in my opinion are not worth the money. the service was quite poor, and after having our order taken by our server, we did not see her again until we asked a plate boy to have her bring us the bill. decent food although overpriced, but poor service.
Cool spot. It has a mature audience which is good. The drinks were on point and food service was fast.
Had my boyfriends surprise birthday party there on 08/03/13 and it was crazy fun. Paid for the silver package had about 20ppl i was then upgraded to the players lounge at no extra cost which was awesome. The food wasnt all that, but everybody was too busy drinking to notice. Its very expensive spent over 3k but it was worth every penny...would definitely go back!!!!!!
Of Couse I Love this place. Im a huge fan of Jay-Z. We visited there 6/14/13. Beautiful place and staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the drinks and food. I ask alot of questions because that who im, so its nice to know the staff knew what she was talking about. We had a Wonderful Time and can not wait for the next time to go :::))))))
Worst experience at the end. Bartender chased us out for more tips!!!
Went there on a Sunday night with 4 friends. It as a dead night not many people at the bar. Rescheduled 3 times for dinner had no issues. Sat at the bar had 2 drinks that are horribly taste. The bartender did nothing but serve drinks to all of us. We didnt have too much fun and left before 1am with 12% tips. As soon as we went outside the bartender came out with another stuff and said to us: "I usually get 20% and more tips. What did I do that you dont like?" My friend was shocked that someone has ever ask this questions so she said "nothing and we gave tips". He said we should give more....my friend just wanna peace out the whole situation and gave him $20 more and let him go....Two of us were taking pictures on the other side otherwise we would tell him to return the tips that we already gave!!!! Gratuity is a courtesy not mandatory. Who the H ask for 20% tip?! Jay-z i'm very disappointed that your club hires people like that. Unfortunatelly we didnt write down his name - but if anyone read this - he was the only bartender worked at that night and it was on Sunday August 4th 2013 around 11pm. THIS EXPERIENCE IS TERRIBLE. I wont go there again. Period.
place is really nice n beautiful. just be careful with the waiter matthew aka spit. he will change your tips more then u gave ... give him cash instead of cc. he likes to add more money then you gave him
Great music, great vibe, great seating, awesome drinks (coconut mojitos), delicious appetizers and cutie waiters too! Oh yeah...sports on every channel...My friends and I always have a great time.
Elegant and sheek space for after work festivities, $$ reasonable, food excellent. Be sure to RSVP for table service during weekend outings for this venue.
it's amazing. the view inside is so beautiful and the food was great
Good vibes. Great drinks.
Awesome food. Cheers to the chef. Todays dish was awesome! Loved it all from 1st base. 3rd. Dug out! Awesome! I loved all the music playing, had a great time with the bf.
Lots of fun for a night out - no cover and open bar on fridays from 10-11! Gets crowded, but staff is very professional and the venue is out of this world.
it is fun but definitely overrated.
I called to plan a party here and the person who I was transferred to for VIP service was rude, didn't share much information and made it hard to try and plan anything here with her constantly speaking over me and non-personable and non-inviting personality I'll pass, and because I've never been to Club 40/40 I was really looking forward to it even if not hosting a party because I don't live in NY but I wanted to fly up from ATL for the experience but geeeesssshh with that HORRIBLE client/customer service it's a wonder that anybody pays to enjoy such a beautiful club especially if she's booking, or maybe she's just use to the rich and famous and no one else's money matters! Oh, Well... I hate I'll be losing out on that experience :(
I had quite a few negative experiences here. I went Friday 2/6/2014 and 2 female representatives outside questioned me like I didn’t belong here. They asked if they could help me with nasty attitudes as I proceeded to enter. I told them no I was fine and continued to proceed.
I was dressed appropriately and so was my friend so we were confused. It was his first time going to 40/40
Then we enter and there were a bunch of people with sneakers on which wasn’t a problem for us but made us question what I am about to mention.
Another friend of mine came by who also had sneakers on and he got in fine. It was also his first time going to 40/40
A 4th friend came by about an hour later as was denied entrance before he could even get close to the door. He had on a button up shirt jeans and sneakers. He was dressed neatly and we had a table already.
They would not let him in at all. Sadly it was his 1st time attending 40/40 as well.
The was Short little man by the name of JOHN who is the host who was an ABSOLUTE DOUCHE bag. HE was very aggressive and demeaning and since he represents the 40/40 he will have some explaining to do to upper management.
I have done several events here where my company has spent money and so have I with my colleagues and friends and we will no longer be spending our money with this establishment.
I am a pissed consumer and I had been going here for years. Its sad that it got this way. They need to fire that John guy, you don’t get a 2nd chance to make a first impression.
Although I called ahead of time and made a reservation and was present on time, they made us check-in our coats first (which we didn't mind) and then after we entered they said we don't have an empathy table. After waiting for 30 min they clean one of those stand tables by the bar, right next to the exit door (in one of the coldest night of ny) and said this is your table. For those who don't know, the tables for dinner and bottle service are entirely in the second floor. If we are willing to spend more than 4-5 hundred for a night at such an inferior place, we expect a better service and better courtesy. I've been to places in differed parts of the world, thus I have a pretty good understanding of what a good service means. Folks, don't waste your money here, there are way better places in this town to enjoy your nights.
I came to NYC for the first time and attended the club on a Saturday night. We got there late close to 1:00am. Apon arriving ppl were already leaving the club. There was probably no more than 30 people in the club. All vip and reservation seatings were empty. They should've gave out free reservations. It cost $10.00 to enter after 10 and free before 10. I ordered wings and it was a great proportion for $13. (40/40 style)
The club it self is very upscale. I loved the scenery, music on point...but the drinks was for the birds. I paid 14 dollars for cranberry juice. Thats was suppose to be vodka and cranberry. Come on Jay Z. I don't want to fall on my butt on the first drink. Can I at least taste the liquor. If u only giving one shot..drop the glass size from a 6oz to a 4oz..so it's like equal amount of juice and liquor. The bathroom that men and women share..don't know about that one...I don't think that's a good idea for a club, cause ppl get drunk and things just might happen in a bathroom...IJS...
Since i was in NY for business, I decided to visit the 4040 for two reasons: my love for baseball and the Mayweather v Berto fight. I reserved a table for 2 to be seated for 10pm using the 'Open Table' app. Arrived at the club around 930pm and had to wait in line, until i notified the security. Which is disapointing because every other establishment i go to, the host is always on top of things like that.
We had a bit of a table snafu going on; my +1 rainchecked so apparently they couldn't sit me. Now i could understand if i had reserved a table for 4 and end up being the only person there, but not being able to sit me due to 1 person missing? That's ridiculous. Keep in mind i got there well before my 10pm slot. The lady trying to sort out my situation kept taking on other assignments, i ended up waiting more than 30 minutes trying to find out what's going on. She comes back after and suggests i share a table with another couple, who i believe would have been turned off by that idea.
Anyway the club's baseball theme interior definitely grabs your eye. The decor is somewhat similar to the Mayfair club in the UK.
The night ended up being great, i made business acquaintances and Mayweather won. Caught a glimpse of Shaq!
Management please utilise your staff. I saw a lot of workers standing around, whilst my hostess running around. Delegation anyone?
When it comes to the table situation, if i reserve a table for 10pm, i do expect to be sitted by that time. Being unable to sit me due to the fact im riding solo is nonsense. It feels as if the service provided is linked to their perception of your wealth. Just because i am not wearing baggy jeans and Jordan's, doesn't necessarily mean I can't afford whats on show. Which brings me to my next point.
Dress code. Don't be inconsistent. Hats or no hats. Boots or shoes? If I'm following what i believe to be the dress code, why is the guy walking in dressed like he's about to shoot a rap video? Mr Shaq O'Neal was smartly dressed, a testament to his character. He looked the part, and he is probably worth more than half the population in the establishment. Be consistent. If Shaq can follow the dress code, why not the guy with the red sneakers, yellow hat and 4 gold chains?
Lastly - your drinks. You might as well give me some water whilst you're at it.
This place has a lot to go in terms of being high class. Next time I'm in NY i will definitely avoid this place. I urge you to skip this mismanaged business.
Amazing place. Food, drink... everything special \o/
I was at 40/40 in November and had the best time. DJ, food and drinks were on point. My reserved table was right in front of the tv on the balcony and my friends and I watched the fight. So this past weekend my sisters and I met in NY and I told them about 40/40. I made reservations for 9 p.m. then changed it to 10 p.m. I received an email confirmation for the change and we got to the club maybe 9:45. From that point on it was downhill. One hostess finally sat us at the table which is the very first table in the club as soon as you walk in the front door. The other hostess comes and asks, "Were you seated by a hostess?" Yes we were. "Are you sure? Because this table is for a party reservation." Really. First of all don't question me. And when I respond, you question me like I'm lying. You direct that question to the person that you work with. Okay so we are sitting at the front door and each time the door opens it's cold, not freezing but cold and then the smell of cigarettes from people smoking outside. I told my sisters how good the food was. I got the same exact order I had last month and it was horrible. The penne pasta was not done and the sauce on it was so pasty. It was just a bad experience overall. So needless to say, my sisters were not impressed. And neither was I this time. The DJ was the best part of the night but we were out of there within an hour and a half.
This place was completely empty but we went there relatively early considering NYC doesn't start partying until late night. We ended up getting a private tour, which was nice. We walked through the party rooms and saw the various signed memorabilia upstairs, it was a decent place and I'm sure gets bumping later in the night, we didn't have time to stick around to find out.
Service was horrible we were seated and given menus but never serviced again. The best part of the experience was the greeter marlon. He tried to get our waitress to come back to the table but it was too late. On top of everything the place was empty.
Fresh and sophisticated mixed with some class and a touch of the unexpected. Great fun was had by all. Wil definitely be returning for future endeavors.
My reservations were for 11pm which I didn't get seated for an hour for them to tell me they have NO TABLES when I booked days in advance, it was my birthday. 1 of my parties went to the bar to buy a drink, BC the waitress took a while, they had the audacity to put that on my bill which I dont why, will be calling about or writing to COOPERATE about over charging. 2nd the food was not all that the breast of chicken was not hot at all. On 2/22/16 I get an email saying I was a NO SHOW if they had a clip board an asked me my name, how many they would know I was there with all my guest then they would know but my bill knows I was there. And why take my CC,DL so you'll can charge it or think someone is gonna skip town. But besides all that I see ppl in there not dressed as casual as they say on there site I saw guys with sneakers smh. After I got a few drinks in me I was good, I can say the DJ WAS THE BOMB, he kept giving the birthday girl some shout outs, thank you for that, I danced my tail off. Overall I might try it one more time just cause the music kept me on my feet. But the service was HORRIBLE.
Best night ever. Servers and bartenders were quick and attentive.
The food was amazing. This will Def be my goto spot on a regular.
Terrible don't waist your money In this place . Service was terrible the waitress took about 15 mins just to take our order she was not attentive at all. The food was okay not the best. But I wouldn't call this place upscale. I don't know I expected better service she took forever just to take our order place wasn't even as busy. I wish i could give this place a 0 stars. Plus when we got the bill she demanded $20 tip me and my friend didn't think she deserve $20 so we gave her $10. She had the oddasity to tell us $10 was not enough that she wanted the $20 . So we have her the $20 to avoid any drama with this ghetto girl. But there's better places in the city with better service don't waist a penny in this place this place gets a 0 star from me. Friday night almost ruined!
We arrived, I informed the waiter of my reservation, only to be notified later the next day that my reservation was not honored, so they needed my bill statement or receipt to verify the reservation. I've never been insulted in my life, only because it was a party of 4, we paid with cash and no one keeps receipts just for proving something so trivial. The rest of the waiters were good, but the maitre'd was horrible for this. The food was good, a bit overpriced as well.
Had an office party there. Really nice decor with many areas for a more private outing. Very delicious blue house mix drink. Not sure of the name but it's great!
The waitress was awesome, she was engaging, thorough, warm our food was delicious. The atmosphere was electric, with hip hop blasting through the speakers & the huuuuuuge flat screens all around. My cocktail was perfect, right blend of spirits.
Great experience in a sports bar. The staffs are nice and friendly. Service was pretty fast. You could meet some interesting characters once the nba game is on. The bartender is pretty chill and cool. Food is awesome here after a couple of drinks. Prices and decent for this neighborhood. Overall great experience and will be returning in the near future.
Had the wings and they were the best wings I've ever had in my 43 years of life. First time visiting. Now starting to plan my husband's 50th bday there in 2 years.. 2 thumbs up to the Jigga Man....
The club itself look amazing but the server or bartender the blonde girl she look Russian,Ukranian or Italian she should be fired like six time force people to tips her she give customer a nasty attitude and she always gives the wrong drinks she gave me and my friends 5 times wrong drinks she's so nasty please this Club deserve descent people, I don't if 40/40 pay they're employees or not but please let customers to be satisfied, the rest it's perfect good food good the door Men very friendly
It is a very nice club. You need to dress up when you enter inside the club ,but it is very expensive. I paid $10 dollars for one Corona and you have to spend at least $30 dollars to use your debit card or credit card. So, do think you are going to be frugal or cheap when you are inside this club. Overall, I had a good experience and it is worth a visit if you are in the NYC.
Not what I expected. Traveled all the way from Dallas, made reservations a month+, in advance, get there, there was no need to even have a reservation, we basically seated ourselves and it was only about 50 ppl in the entire place including staff, I thought we might have been early, but it was only about 10 ppl left after 12am. the best bartender left at 12. This bartender was actually nice, but I don't know if that's because our waitress was so rude we ended up just leaving and was talking about it outside and the manager happened to overhear us, (we had no clue he was the manager until he was like "I'm sorry about yalls experience, how can I make it you all, because I'm the manager?") We were so disgusted at the service that we just wanted to leave, and he offerered to buy us a round of drinks to make the experience better. That was the only good part about the whole thing. With all the hype, I expected more, since it was owned by Jay-Z. He would have done better to open a Basic fast food restaurant instead of this because customer service at McDonald's is better. Our waitress needs to take a few classes on customer service and being more attentive. I order a peach Margarita from the frozen drinks menu, she bought me back a plain margarita on the rocks. So I asked her to come back to the table and asked her, "what type of margarita is this, she replied "a plain margarita", I said this is not what I ordered, she said well I only heard Margarita and began to walk away, saying "maybe you can get that on the next round", until I was like can I have what I ordered? So she went and changed it. The drinks were very watered down. After 3 drinks,no buzz. The food was horrible, I ordered the empanadas, they were cold, and tasted like something from your local grocery store freezer, that was heated up. Couldn't finish them. My friend ordered the nachos, and they were so nasty, she couldn't eat 2 bites. We told the waitress, and she said "ok let me get your check", didn't care at all. Will never visit again, everything that's in the previous reviews are true I wish I'd read them before going there.
The 40/40 Club has a mostly sports atmosphere. There is ample bar space, tall table space, and plenty of TVs around for any sporting event. They also provide private party rooms if you wish to rent. Also, the staff is very professional!
Worst experience ever!!! We had many problems arranging reservations with them not responding in a timely manner, never remembering who we were when we called to follow-up. It took 3 attempts from 3 different people in our group to finally get a reservation completed & paid in full.
Thirty days later we arrive to the club to receive more inconvenience & disappointment. The General manager, Sherwin Robinson, chose to not honor our reservation because the original bank card used for the transaction was stolen, & was replaced by the bank. He stated they need the card that the payment was made with as final confirmation for the reservation (if that's the case why process a complete charge instead of a deposit with a hold on the remaining balance). We asked to speak with someone higher than him or the owner since he couldn't (technically refuse) make the executive call to honor our prepaid, non-balance remaining, reservation based on the situation that happened with the previous card. Sherwin stated there is only the owner, Jay-Z, above him but he refused to contact him. After lengthy discussions with him, us asking him why would we make a prepaid reservation, flying over 1,000 miles to a new state for our birthdays & anniversaries to receive problems & inconvenience, he offered two options: for us to make a new reservation payment with the new card (which is still connected to the same bank account of the original transaction he chose to not honor, & we're now paying twice) & he'll refund the first payment, or he can give us a refund and we can leave. We chose the latter but Sherwin then flipped the script stating he couldn't process the refund. He stated that the refund is processed thru the business/corporate office which is only open Monday - Friday (but earlier he said no one is above him outside the owner. If that's true then you have the access & right to process the refund). We asked him to call Melissa whom handled our entire reservation & he refused. We had him write up a refund statement & sign it. Sherwin placed the wrong first name on letter & did not enter the refund amount. He corrected the name but came up with a new excuse to why he wouldn't enter the refund amount. The new excuse Sherwin gave is we wouldn't receive a full refund because they charge a 3.5% plus $3.00 processing fee. So now the club still wants to keep portion of our money after General Manager Sherwin Robinson is the primary person making the decisions & choosing not to honor our reservation because of an unexpected life incident that caused the bank to replace the card. The hired staff made this place completely unethical, non customer service savvy, and took money away from the assigned waitress (lost gratuity on bottle service & additional cash tip-outs from 12 people in the group). I don't recommend this place for anyone wanting a party reservation.
As of 8/11/16: Melissa refuses to send me an email stating the refund is being processed. She said the letter we received from Sherwin is sufficient enough. She was asked if she would simply provide an email saying that the process has begun and the time frame for money to be returned but she won't. She was reminded that this was money provided for a group (not individual reservation); therefore if she didn't provide an email, the members of the group will contact her.
Cons: totally disorganized and unprofessional hostess, unprepared for large crowds.
Pros: good food, good music, good waiter (once we had a table)
We made reservations weeks in advance during a fight night to show up and be told there were no tables and there might be some in two hours. And when we asked how they would notify us if something came available, the waitress said "I'll come find you" or in other words not happening. After 20 minutes we found a waiter and told them we wanted to do bottle service and were miraculously found a table.
The DJ was good and we had a great time once we were seated, but they obviously need to make some alterations to their reservation procedures if they are not going to honor them. There are way too many other options in New York!
From my experience this club is very good and look amazing especially since the renovations. Some say it is pricey , that's true but no more than all those clubs or bars around. If you go there you better have a budget but just like most place midtown you don't go there if you have only $20 in your pocket. The music is great. Well I always had good times and memories there.
Classic NYC club atmosphere, prefer upstairs and the private rooms to the main floor which can get packed....
Great venue for launch parties. Security was extremely professional and courteous. Naturally, drink are pricey as anyplace in the flatiron district, but overall a well run establishment.
Great place, the food was excellent and the atmosphere is beautiful. Would love to go again.
Terrible service, poor food options. Would not recommend. Waited 25 minutes for food for 2 people after half the table was served and never once did they come to the table to update or apologize
Awesome location, great music and drinks. Love the Jay Z connection! 🎵🎵 Get your free Lyft ride when you use promo HALFTIME50 🚖
Elegant, classy and definitely not budget friendly, good food, helpful staff.. Attracts a "who's who" crowd.. Females appear to come to get bought alcohol
By far my favorite sports bar. Jay Z definitely runs a great place. Atmosphere is top drawer, gold bottles all up and down the walls behind the bar, gold baseball bats lining walls behind booths. Food menu is somewhat limited, but all tastes great. Highly recommend ordering a beer bucket, makes for some of the cheaper beer in the city per bottle. Great place to watch major sporting events, my buddies and I always get reservations here to see big fights or playoff games. Final thing that impressed me is that when the DJ goes on duty he turns up great music during the commercials and then when the game's back on they turn down the music and turn up the TV volume so you can hear commentary, which somehow makes the experience considerably better.
Pretty solid place to watch a game or fight, featuring music featuring hip-hop mogul and co-owner Jay-Z every three or four songs. Probably not what they are known for, but I was very impressed with their nachos - evenly spread toppings; not a single chip was left uncheesed! Also, they have a special for cheap beers - bucket of 5 for $35. Pretty solid deal, and enough to sit back and finish off an NCAA basketball face-off.
Very nice bar and setup! Food was great! Only thing stopped from 5 stars were how the drinks are made. It was $15 per drink unless you bought a bottle or margaritas.
Wow. Great service. Great Crew. Beautiful 3 large VIP rooms with their own billiards room upstairs. My kind of place. Great private party rooms.
This club/ bar is quite mediocre in my opinion; it's designed very well and the inside is lavish but I believe it's mostly hype because of Jay. The music was good but it was empty on a Friday night...
The fries were delicious and the drinks were expensive and not worth it. Also tried Dusse but I wasn't a fan of it 🤢. Maybe I could see myself going back here for a major event but I wouldn't attend during an average night out of all the clubs in nyc
Amazing experience! Great atmosphere and friendly People. I even met Jay-Z right hand TATA. TaTa looked good in all White. I Am So Proud of Jay-Z for just making a club how it should be. The bathrooms are nice along with the venue. But what I like about it, no one bothers you!
Excellent decor and audio visual for a luxury sports bar. The service DOES NOT meet the status of a luxury or upscale business. It appears most of the staff has no concept of the importance of customer service and hospitality in the food industry. The food falls short for good or high quality ingredients. The space is very clean, great music and the private rooms are cozy.
The atmosphere was great, food, and the DJ was great. But I bought a VIP package, that included was suppose to include "according to the website" VIP seating, a baseball cap, t-shirt, and photos. Well the photos was taken with a Polaroid type camera that didn't come out to great, the pictures were smaller than a 4 X 6, the pictures that my party took with our camera phone came out better than the pictures that was in our package. We did not get the baseball cap or t-shirt as the package stated, but our server told us that we had to pick which souvenir we wanted. The VIP seating was just a reserved table in the front. I think had my party would have known, we would of just paid to get in and took our own pictures with our phone and just ordered our food, and they charged my card twice.
I thought it was a club, but its more like a upscale bar, they had no dance floor. The party I was with we paid for VIP, it wasn't worth it at all, we was in a corner near the door, just had a reserved sign on it, around 12am the DJ turned off the music and they showed a boxing fight, we paid all that money to just watch a fight, so at 12:30 we left. It wasn't worth the money for VIP, and we didn't have any fun. It was my friend Birthday and we came all the way from Raleigh NC to go out and enjoy the night, and we didn't have any fun.. 40/40 club is just overrated, it needs say bar and lounge.. the food was good, I must say that.
This place is bad for food service. Order was wrong, then brought out another person's order. Charged me for stuff that was not mine. Takes for ever to get a drink and that was at 6pm. I couldn't imagine how long it takes when busy here. Brand was just way off. I think of great things when I think Jay z. I can't believe he puts his name on this place.
Design is beautiful, however, the staff is unprofessional and there is little value in the party packages that can be purchased on their website. A group of friends and I came to 40/40 to celebrate a birthday. We purchased a VIP package and also ate at the restaurant prior to being "seated" in "VIP". Servers were nice but highly unprofessional and untrained. One of the ladies brought my friend a piece of lime for her drink with her bare fingers... at the dinner table. After ordering our food, we were told that the shrimp pasta would have an extra $10 charge. We inquired about the additional charge and was told that it covers the cost of the shrimp. However, the menu had no information about the charge. After we asked for the manager, another server came to our table and asked what our questions was. Although she was not the manager that we asked for, we entertained her and asked her for a reasoning. Her answer was no different from the previous server. We asked to speak to a manager again. After this request our original server came out to inform us that her manager said it was ok and that we did not have to pay the $10 extra. Food came and was lacking seasoning. Before our plates were cleared, we were told by our servers that we had to get up because there was another reservation. We were shocked that they would ask guests to get up but we complied and asked to be placed in our VIP. Our server stated that if we were supposed to be placed in VIP, she would've sat us there and that it is much nicer. She stated that it was not her fault that we were not placed in VIP for dinner because we did not tell her. We assured her that it was okay ( but also confused about the type of apology given). We sat for about 30 minutes and waited to be prompted to move to our section. The server came and stated that her manager said that where we were sitting, was VIP. We were in total shock because there is a CLEAR VIP section in 40/40 and this was not it. The section that we ate in for dinner was located just to the right of the door and there were people that casually entered to be seated. If this was VIP, what did we pay for? I could've walked in off the street and been seated for $500 less. The manager finally came to the table and attempted to recover the night but it was a total bust. We asked for a refund before we received our "VIP" items and was told "no" because he had already blew up balloons and ordered a cake (these were some items that we prepaid for) from the corner store. All of which probably cost $40. I felt like we got scammed. All we could think about is how this is not what we thought we paid for and the servers and unprofessionalism aggravated us even more.
Inside is a beautiful set up, but I wouldn't expect anything less. I go here when I wanna feel extra fancy and to be cute in the club. The food isn't the best but if your really hungry it'll do.
Music was pretty bad (not JayZ style) and I was not feeling welcomed. There was a lot of hate on the dancefloor.
Very spacious beautifully decorated. Good food. Great atmosphere! Staff very attentive
Sophisticated and classy, but bring a fat wallet. Ballers and models will feel right at home - not so much anyone else trying to turn up on a budget. Private players lounge is spacious, well appointed and your private concierge does her best to make sure you and your guests have anything you want. Oh yeah, and the food is absolutely amazing!
This place is gorgeous, beautiful, elegant, classy, refined, and still hip - accented with black and gold. The fact that it's still opened speaks volumes (as most places opened by entertainment people typically don't turn out so well).
As a club, it's not the best for dancing. There isn't really a dancefloor. There's a wrap around bar area, restaurant seating along the wall, "tiered" sofa seating with low tables for eating or drinking (think of long bleachers with nice leather sofa seating overlooking the bar area), and also "lounge/VIP" rooms open to anyone who wants to play pool, watch a sports game on a flat screen, or sit on the huge, comfy sofas to chat.
The downstairs lower level has singular bathrooms (one toilet each) that are unisex. Once I went and there was a main bathroom that was unisex with everyone going in there, which can be a bit unnerving to women. All the bathrooms or stall doors have blurred glass, so you get some privacy but not compete 100% of it haha (not the boom boom room).
I've had the best time when I've come here to eat, and well to have a few drinks and chat.
While Hip Hop music is played, it's not a spot where people misbehave (I have not heard of a fight breaking out here, as I've experienced at another Hip Hop lounge). I would definitely recommend this place for the early dinner and chill vibe during that time.
Hanging out with friends and family was great because we had a private room. Also, the pool table gave us a way to have something other than drinking to do. Prices are moderate and the crab sliders are awesome. Would go back in the future.
Love it great service great music great people great place had a phenomenal time and we can't forget about the food amazing...
My company hosted our holiday kickoff party here. Very nice venue, the right mixture of sports and upscale lounge decor.
Music was legit, old school hip hop and cherry picked tunes from today. To my pleasure, no mumble rap, sorry (Not sorry) if that's your thing.
Bathrooms are unisex and each stall is very private, the unisex common area makes for interesting times when folks get drunk - here's hoping all people can maintain their composure when liquored up.
Food was great, but we had a mishap. Some employees are allergic to peanuts and the staff wasn't prepared to answer questions about food content pertaining to allergies which resulted in a bad time one guy. Would have been happy if we didn't have to wait till his throat swole up to learn about the contents of the food.
Still haven't changed my opinion about this place. I was surprised it was still open never was a huge fan of it. I went there because a friend had a special event taking place there otherwise I would never step foot in that venue always hated the atmosphere and the decor
Went for the first time NYE. The space is gorgeous and service is awesome.
My only complaints are having guests who already paid and bought booths and stadium seats waiting outside in 10 degree weather that felt like -5 degrees for no damn reason. If the space is already paid for VIP should just walk in.
Also, there were technical difficulties with the sound towards the end of the night.
Prevent these two things from happening and you'll have 5 stars.
Amazing Service! We were a party of 8! Building was clean and nice. My party even got a tour of the upper level. Food was fresh and quick from kitchen. Terrell was our server and he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the club and menu. Pricing is reasonable, great cocktails for $15. I would definitely be returning.
Very elegant and classy club. The ambiance is wonderful, great atmosphere. Plan on visiting again when I come back to New York.
On my first visit I was not told that they did not take Discover Cards. Going out in New York I only took one card with me and of course you know it was a Discover card. The place was crowded and it's very embarrassing to be told that I couldn't use my card. I went back on my next visit and the experience was much better. I spoke with the manager and he make sure everything was right my second visit
Very cool space. Trendy. On the pricey side. Great place to dance and let loose.
Hardly worth what your pay, the menu is subpar. The food was not present well. The waitress however was very kind and sharp, that's the only reason why I'm giving it two stars.. She earned it for the entire place. If you want to feel like a "baller' go to a steakhouse... If want to impress your date with ambience, Bc the place looks cool, then go there.
Incredible place for a party. I went here for a film premiere, with all of the TV’s there was not a bad seat in the house. I imagine it’s a perfect place to watch a game. The staff was as professional as they come. Great service and despite the rowdy nature of the crowd that night they handled everything and didn’t kill the vibe of the party. I hope to go back again if I get the opportunity.
Classy comfortable so plan to come here.
Dont just stumble in make this your destination or plan your events right here in this spacious open seated Roman gladiator arena meets modern day super clear visualizations. They display everything from boxing to soccer they have it all.
Come down and see what great service is all about from the bar to vip.
There is something here for everyone looking for a great night out.
Come have some fun I know that I had a great time.
They saved my birthday party! I had initially gotten a non refundable table at Coapcabanna, only for me to get there and be told that there are private events going on and so the hip hop floor is combined with the Latin floor. Anyways, my friend auggested 40/40 and when we got there, the people at the door were extremely nice and accommodating. The DJ even played me some Nigerian music. I had THE best night! The chicken wings were bomb! Music was amazing. Thanks for a good time !!!
Jay Z owned sports club. Great for private group events with individual rooms as well as multi level bars and lounges. Modern and chic.
Only reason for 4 stars is the food I ordered. I was there for a party I got invited to. It was in the "Jay Z room." Very nice. Wide open and roomy with a few wide screen tv's spread throughout. Sofas and comfortable chairs as well. A Pool table placed in the center gave the room a "club within a club" feel. Portraits of the greatest athletes hung on the walls too. Very nice! During the party, servers were very nice and they kept the drinks coming! The wings served were perfect. Platter after platter. Upon leaving I placed an order for the same wings.... trusting based on the experience of the party... I didn't bother to check my food. I get home only to find MY wings had NO FLAVOR and the ranch dressing didn't help. That was my only issue. Otherwise the place is A1. Music was good too. I will go back with friends. I'll be sure to check my food next time. Lol.
Service was great, prices were outrageous considering no one attends the club. Club was so empty they wouldn't even open the upper level. Horrible!!!
Food and dessert was terrible. Drinks are excellent. Alicia was outstanding. I will only come back if she greets us. She made up for everything. Thanks!!!!
Great food. Drinks and atmosphere if you love sports or not.. 3rd time dining here, music was on point.
The atmosphere was nice and music was a good variety. The catfish and chicken wings were good. My fries and my friend fries were bogus, but they did remake them and resolved the issue quickly. There was no cover to get in, surprising for a Saturday. I really enjoyed myself.
I was able to call this place and someone was able to answer my questions. Food is great, the ambience is nice and the bartenders have a good rapport with their customers. I highly recommend this place for hosting big or small events
We reserved a table. Arrived around 12:00a and the the place was pretty empty, yet it still took about 30 minutes for a waitress to take our order. The floor around our table still had food all over it. Not sure if the air conditioning broke or what, but the 8 of us were sweating all night. It was extremely uncomfortable in there. There are many other places around Manhattan that are nicer and where we would have been much more comfortable for $1k we spend.
1. Our 1st reservation was lost.
2. Made a new reservation, received confirmation, day of reservation, received a text, replied to the text, on the way. I was not late, arrived to the club, was told we had no reservation bc we did not pay in advance (there was a fight airing). I had no idea a fight was being aired.
3. On top of this, we had to pay $40 to get in. Bought 1 drink each & left bc we had no place to sit and eat dinner.
So we had to pay $40 to be told, we had no table. RIP off!!!
I'm disappointed, was looking forward to it on my New York vacation.
Great food and sporting events. I love watching championship games here. Great DJ spins during commercials. For pretty flawless night of entertainment.
I went for an after party during NYFW and the DJ absolutely sucked. Nice interior and big screens. The bartenders are good looking and attentive. Prices aren't that bad
Great ambience. Music was great if you love hip hop. Literally a mix of a sports bar and night club. Food is pretty good in comparison to other sports bars. Big screens everywhere. Disappointed in the service and wouldn't come back for that reason alone. Went on a Monday and there were barely any patrons and our waitress came around to check up on us maybe once every 20 minutes. This would t have been an issue but my food came out a full 30 minutes before my friends and there was no explanation as to why and a weak apology. If you love sports paraphernalia, check out the top floor. They have signed jerseys from great players all sports.
This place is a must go! My husband and I went for Monday night football. We were very pleased with everything. Great music playing until the game started. We were given a tour of the club. Loved the layout of the place. Many different areas to hang out, all very comfortable. The chaise seating and being able to put our feet up was much appreciated after two days of non-stop walking around the city! The huge TVs were amazing to watch the game on. The food and service were awesome. Special shout out to our server Sara who was so friendly and attentive ...up and down the stairs to check on us all night (we sat at the top). Looking forward to going on a weekend for the wilder side of things.
Very beautiful, I love the hot wings and cherse burgers and fries. Was so delicious. I enjoy my night. I saw fat Joe when I went. I had an amazing time
Attended a V.I.P. event. Enjoyed the big screens.
But, the liquor served was called "House Liquor" by the Bartender. She wouldn't show me what brands they had. And i couldn't order "Top Shelf" because of the party i was with. So I ordered whiskey on the rocks. She said i couldn't order it like that. I went to the other bartender and got it twice!! And they refused to show me what the house brands were! LOW CLASS MOVE! THE HOUSE BRANDS ARE CHEAP!
Never been there before. It was a nice venue. Large space for New York city. I think the bar was expensive.
This is a great spot to hang. Granted it was snowingraining when we went the whole place was spacious. Lots of people, great atmosphere, friendly staff. 4 stars because it was a little hectic trying to find a place to sit, but that could also be attributed to the sheer amount of people inside. If you want a good vibe atmosphere I would recommend it. That and the view is gorgeous.
Horrible bartenders and staff. Overpriced and watered down drinks. Stay away and don't waste your money here.
I've been going to the 40 since it opened. Had my bachelor's party there in addition to other parties. Hadn't been back in a while and I have to say that the atmosphere now is a bit more adult..and muted especially on a fight night. Not necessarily a bad thing though. Maybe it's a result of recent "events" there or maybe we're just all grown up now. Always been a good time though.
Who needs a gym?? I lost 20lbs dancing Friday & Saturday night -- Love it! The Staff is so sweet & so is everyone that goes there! See you there! I'll be the one first one on the floor! 😊😂😎
Came to this place with a group of friends. Honestly didn’t know what to expect, but the presentation was definitely outstanding.
Great layout, finishes, staff and service.
Amazing food, good priced drinks and a chill staff.
Definitely recommend especially if you’re into the hip hop, dancehall music scene.
Love it here - great music and atmosphere - went for all star shoot out and service was great - we had the whole balcony - this is our go to date night spot. bathrooms co-ed... be warned. or excited?
This is easily the worst drinks I've had not only in all of New York, but in all of my travels. An old fashioned should never be bright pink and taste like cough syrup. I returned that drink along with what was supposed to be a chocolate martini, but was actually skim water. Yes, skim water. Like watered down skim milk. Also the worst dj. He couldn't let a song play for ten seconds before he just had to tell something into the mic. The only thing good about the place were the servers. All of them were gracious and helpful. I would never go here again.
I wish I had read reviews prior to eating here. I was looking forward to an upscale experience but this wasn’t it.
Our server was amazing and very informative. She also was accommodating given that we were cold by the door & asked to move.
The food portions were huge, and the food was tasty but nothing special for the price. My drink was very tasty though - I ordered the code.
The music was toooo good! We jammed all dinner ! My favourite part. The venue was dingy, a lot could be updated & made more upscale. I also packed my meal to go & the take our bag & presentation was horrible, that of a convenience store or something.
I think the mistake we made was eating at an obvious club. This place comes off totally different online which I find kind of shocking. There wasn’t much luxury about it. It came off as though they lost it over the years. They can do better with presentation & food for sure. They should definitely turn it into only a lounge/club & keep it at that.
Went here for the bachelor party package. Pros and Cons listed
Very nice atmosphere, very good service. Seated us immediately upon arrival. Wings and catfish fingers were banging!
Dress code is supposed to be impressive attire. No hats, sneakers, work boots or anything close to a sweat suit. What we saw was all of the above. Normally not a problem, except I dressed how they asked me to, only to feel overdressed. That was disappointing.
The package included 10 shots of liquor. That was some nasty liquor in those shots. We had to order something else. Very pricey replacement.
I would go back, but not my 1st choice.
It was pretty cool! I went to an app release party there ( it's called whatsthemovenyc on android and apple devices btw. They tell you all the go-to places and events in NYC & NJ) sorry for the plug but back to the review. We had a great time. The staff were very nice and the food wasn't bad. My fries were spicy how i like them & the Crab cakes were good. It was cool to see all the the around us playing sports as well. They even played the company's commercial through the TVs! Very cool. The interior decoration is very beautiful. I would come back again
This was one of the must visit places during my Husband's first time to New York City. It has a nice decor, our server was super friendly and didn't seem to mind discussing all things Jay-Z and what a nice guy he is. The food and drinks were ok, enjoyable. I'd seen it over the years, but never stopped. He was happy, which is all I cared about.
Attended 40/40 in a private room for my wife’s holiday party. The decor and food were very good. Ambiance is a lot of fun.
I visited the 40/40 for a networking event and I had a good experience except for a few things. The events location where it was being hosted was very HOT. To the point where there was only 2 stand fans that was cooling the room where there was about 20 people standing around. It was uncomfortable to be in the room and I had to network in the hall way. Hopefully the property will provide better alternatives for the A/C unit.
We had an awesome experience the 40/40 club! The staff were attentive, flexible, knowledgeable about the best package for us. The service was first class. The stadium section is first class, all the way! Thanks to James and Ishmael for making sure we were well taken care and received high quality service. There were more staff that ensured we had a great time, also. Not only will I recommend the 40/40 club, but I will definitely book events there in the future.
This place has a great ambiance, a lot smaller than it looks but a nice way to watch any sporting event. The drinks are not ridiculously priced like other places in the area and the music doesn't get TOO loud. The staff is friendly and the bathrooms are clean.
Date night out with my husband & this was a great choice!! 8:30pm on a Saturday night & it wasn't crowded at all, even though it was Pride wknd! There weren't any events taking place, so it was nice. The music was good & the service was great. My husband had the short rib & LOVED it, my chicken was good as well. I would definitely recommend this place & plan on going back again.
The music is absolutely amazing. The food is good. The club and atmosphere is excellent. My friends and I went to 2 other clubs till we found the party here. The drinks is kinda pricey. The bathrooms are gross so carry baby wipes and hand sanitizer because they run out of toilet paper and soap.
I visit this spot with my mates last Saturday. This spot has an extraordinary feel, much littler than it looks however a pleasant method to observe any donning event. The nourishment and beverages were alright, agreeable. I'd seen it throughout the years, however never ceased. It is the best spot around the local area to go with associates after office for getting a charge out of beverages and feeling unwind.
First time. The 40/40 experience is NYC authentic. The people are real life leveled up, you can tell excellence is the focus. While aware, I happened upon it while on a visit to NYU.
I booked a party on a Friday night at the 40/40 club. I wasn’t told that it was a slow night due to “summer”. My party flew in from different places to celebrate my birthday, and we could have stayed at home basically. The club was dead and the manager along with our waitress was very rude. I paid for my whole package a week in advance including gratuity that’s probably why they didn’t care to treat us well. It was a terrible experience, and Jay Z needs to check on his club performance cause it’s not popping at all for it to be his club.
Love this place! My girl friend took me here last year to watch the NBA FINALS and I must say I enjoyed myself ! The scenery is just amazing, the bartenders are awesome... they treat you good here
My experience was exceptional since it was my first time at the 40/40 Club. A perfect spot for date night. Very intimate and cozy with huge flat screens showing various sports.
Upscale joint they told me, but it was way more acceptable on the dress code more than I thought. The TVs is amazing, and the upstairs joint in V.I.P is off the chain too. But this should never be your last stop if you go out, it's more of a appetizer to start your evening.
I believe this is Jay-Z's club right? This place was amazing! Came here over the weekend and we had a blast. Haven't had that much fun in a long time. hoping to come back soon for real!
Stopped in on a Saturday. Had reservations for 7. We arrived and were seated next to the main entrance. It was pretty cold, so we asked to be seated somewhere else. The waitress was fine with it and seated us near the side entrance. Still cold because the guy at the door kept opening it up for no apparent reason. We asked if we could sit near the center of the restaurant but she told us they were $1500 tables only. I'm not sure how a party of 4 could spend that when the most expensive thing on the dinner menu is $38. Anyway, we were hungry and decided to stay. Our "booth" was semi private. Shared by another table. The tables are coffee table height by the way. Our server hadn't arrived yet, so the girl that seated us took our drink and food orders. Our waiter showed up sometime between our drinks being delivered and appetizers showing up. Food and drinks were pretty good. No complaints. The server wasn't the greatest. Took plenty of time in between visits. Not a problem if it was busy, but it wasn't. Not really sure where he kept disappearing to. Not what we're expecting. Definitely will not be back.
Place has several clean private rooms for large parties. Staff is friendly and competent. Bathrooms are unisex, which is weird. They are clean though. Food is good. Basic bar food. You can bring own DJ.
My party of 5 came in from different cities to bring in new years 2020 at 40/40. I was given word that this was supposed to be an upscale night spot me being a business owner you think this would be professional managed establishment. Security and manager’s are rude. I’d rather have hosted this at Sip n Chat in Brooklyn. Will not travel from Houston to waste money on unappreciative staff at 40/40.
Came here for basketball playoffs. The surround sound is amazing for sports since it totally feels like your fully immersed in the action.
